Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC - RTX 4090 Benchmark
In this video we'll benchmark the RTX 4090 in Final Fantasy VII (Final Fantasy 7) Rebirth at 1440p and 4K. We'll be using DLAA, DLSS, TAA, and TAAU, as well as multiple graphical presets to measure the game's performance.
We'll be using a Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU paired with 32GB of DDR5 6000 MT/s CL30 memory.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth runs on Unreal Engine 4, and while the game runs a lot better than Final Fantasy XVI it does suffer from the usual Unreal Engine stutters, namely traversal and shader compilation stutter. Shader compilation stutter especially is very prominent during combat scenes.
System Specs:
Ryzen 7 7800X3D
32GB DDR5 6000 MT/s CL30 with tuned sub-timings
MSI Liquid X GeForce RTX 4090
Gigabyte Eagle B650 Motherboard
2TB Gen4 NVMe Storage Drive
Corsair HX850I power supply
Windows 11 23H2
ReBAR enabled
Memory Integrity disabled

Переглядів 8 тис.14 годин тому
In this video we'll be testing the updated DLSS4 in Cyberpunk 2077 with the RTX 4090 and 7800X3D. We will be testing the performance differences between the old CNN model compared to the new Transformer Model. I'm really not that good with making image quality comparison tests so we'll only focus on performance differences here. We'll be testing at 4K with DLSS Quality, Balanced, and Performanc...
How to Actually use Lossless Scaling Frame Generation Correctly!
Переглядів 17 тис.21 годину тому
I made a video last week where I tried to get as high a framerate as possible by using Lossless Scaling. In this video I take a look at what Lossless Scaling can do when actually used correctly. We will be testing 2X and 3X modes while using a framerate cap to try and max out a 165hz monitor. We'll be using a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, and 32GB of DDR5 6000 MT/s CL30 memory ...

Can someone help me: I have 144HZ TV, when I set the limit in DD2 of 50 FPS (currently my game is drawing 50-55) and apply loseless scaling (any scaling mode) it lowers the base framerate at about 30-ish. It also happens no matter what lock I set in RTSS. It also happens when I scale Twitch or UA-cam videos, it just lowers base framerate ALWAYS.
Try making a new profile then add the individual .exe file of the game and set an fps limit. Remove the global limit. I've seen it happen where if it is done under the global profile / preset it limits Lossless app as well.
Considering that TM in performance looks about as good as CNN in quality you probably wont ever see the 5% performance decrease if this was the DLSS we had back in 2018 I wouldnt have been so cynical for the past half decade
Yeah, that's another angle indeed. You can now use lower quality presets while looking better, meaning you can claw back the slight performance loss.
You helped me realize how badly my 10700k was holding back RTX 3080. Upgraded my cpu and didn't expect the performance boost i see now. Nice video.
que usas para medir los fps? se me hace una manera muy bonita
Lossless scaling for frame generation in online movies is the best.
Never tried it but I've heard many people say that now. Will be sure to give it a shot 👍
I got the Nvidia overlay to work in Hell Divers 2. Latency is doubled from 15ms to 30ms with scaling enabled.
If you have a decent gpu and play 1440p you will cap 120fps in this game. Same for 4k 90-120 depending on your rig. Its not an insanely graphical game to reach 120fps
i have a problem which is different, when playing msfs 2020 while setting are maxed out the gpu and cpu usage are below 50% how can i fix it and no the frame rate is not limited (in other games everything is normal)
Appreciate the work fella I found the settings a bit basic tbh but understood what they meant & I think the game looks much better than FF16 for visuals Looks sharper with less blur & less of a softer image quality, similar style to the FF7 Remake On top of that it runs very well I went 100% and it ran well on the 4080 Super also I'm a big fan of FF myself since the FF7 Remake
I still don't understand, because I'm stupid. Good video though
Dont be so hard on yourself! If the GPUBusy Avg and Frametime AVG are close to each other it means little to no CPU bottleneck. If the Frametime AVG is much higher than GPUBusy Avg it means you have a CPU bottleneck of some sort. Could be RAM, or even just the game not utilizing resources to the fullest. If that still sounds confusing then look at the GPUBusy Deviation. The higher that %, the less GPU bound you are.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews You're the real MVP! Definitely clears up my confusion. So if GPUBusy is much higher than the Frametime AVG, does that mean it's a GPU bottleneck instead of a CPU one?
@@blebinmawnor1891 Happy to help! The best case scenario for the GPU would be if they are equal. The Avg frametime cant be lower than the GPUBusy time. GPUBusy time means the time it takes for the GPU to render the frame, so the best it can be is equal. Dont let that confuse you though. The way to look at it is if the GPUBusy time is 10ms, and the average frametime is 10ms, it means the CPU can prepare the frames within 10ms or lower, and the CPU waited for the GPU, so GPU limited. But if the avg frametime is 20ms and the GPUBusy time is 10ms it means the GPU waited 10ms for the next frame to be prepared by the CPU / system / engine, meaning a CPU limit. The CPU limit in this case can be anything like RAM, game engine etc. CPU limit is just an umbrella term for when not fully GPU limited. Hope I didnt confuse you again now haha!
test it on the grasslands thats where performance matter
Was really hoping DLSS 4 boosts the FPS even higher and reduces stutter/dips.
The good thing here is that DLSS Balanced at 1440p now looks better in many places than DLSS Quality at 1440p, so if you want a bit of a boost drop the DLSS preset one lower. It'll still look as good, or better, while performing better too.
is dlss aa or tlaa better for 100% render res at 4k? hitting 4k 120 consistently with 4090 + 7950X but dont know which AA is superior
I personally prefer DLAA as it does resolve finer details better. And soon you'll be able to use the new DLSS as well via Nvidia App which will make it look even better.
DLAA is sharper.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews via nvidia app? am i missing something lol? im still on geforce experience did they get a new software or something? i keep saying upgrade to nvidia app when i open experience to update my drivers but ive been ignoring it
Also can I run VRR with lossless scaling or is it better to set it to vsync?
I'm playing on a 4090 and on a 360hz 1440p OLED monitor. For some reason when i set the "display sync technology" in Rebirth to V-sync instead of VRR it allows me to go over the 120 fps cap in rebirth. My framerates regularly sit around 135-200 in some smaller areas and pegged at my driver level 240fps cap in the combat simulator for those interested. Idk if it's a bug or what but hey im not complaining. lol
Hahaha, that's interesting. I tried it out on my 165hz panel with v-sync on and it stayed at 120 fps, so maybe a bug with higher refresh rate monitors? Very cool though.
@ I also have g-sync and v-sync enabled in Nvidia driver. Idk if that would make a difference or not. I haven’t seen anyone else mention this yet and I’ve confirmed with 3 different fps software. Nvidia app, RTSS and my monitors built in fps readout. Also on W11 24H2 with a 9800x3d.
So could I use this to run rebirth at higher than 120fps which it's locked at? (I have a 4080 laptop gpu)
Come on. Input latency with frame generation enabled in cyberpunk is so high I manage to end mouse movement before the camera starts moving. Even the riva says my frame lasts only for 16ms.
So now its twice as good as native cuz according to nvidia fanbots dlss3 was already better than native? 😨😨😨🤣 720p = better 4k aka 5070=4090 aka the more you buy the more you save era has begun 😂😂😂.
Framerate itself is okish but the the game stutters a bit and the lack of improved shadows res and casade over the laughably bad ps5 verison is also disappointing. Stutters way more then Remake did for me but at least we have dlss this time Also heard tons of crashing and weird textures and models all over the place. I mean FF16 ran at 20fps for me so doing 4k max dlaa 80+ is cool even though the graphics are underwhelming at times and I had to cap it to 60 to minimize the stutter
Yeah, it definitely suffers from the usual UE issues, and quite badly at times.
Do you think this would get rid of the Dragon's Dogma 2 micro stuttering?
Unfortunately not, that game is broken from a CPU perspective 😔
Really want to see Quality CNN vs Balanced or even Performance Transformer for image quality because either of the TNN should have better performance and either the same or better image quality.
2025 and still no adjustable HDR sliders in most games. Also saw negative comments to "no widescreen support". These things should be standard, but the game is so beautiful and runs and plays perfectly, it does deserve a positive review anyways. Just unfortunate that we have to mod and fix stuff ourselves to get these settings we want.
Yeah, it's insane that today we need to rely on modders to fix and implement features that should be standard in 2025 :(
It has an HDR luminescence slider
Good stuff, thanks for the video. I have to assume that x2 FG will also get better/smoother for 4xxx users as drivers mature for nvidia's push for the 5xxx series. The new upscale model being supported on older cards is a huge W.
Yeah, it should get better and better with time for sure. Look at where DLSS started and look where we are now. It's a major improvement.
Bbbbut you see... 😝😝😝 Now your TENSORFLOW HARDWARE IS COMPLETELY USELESS AS NEW MODEL DOESN UTILIZE IT LOOOOL. You PAID FOR AIRTX 4000 😉.
Thanks man. It's help me so much. What the software you use to measure average pc latency?
You're welcome! For latency I just used the Nvidia App overlay.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews thanks a lot man.
So the issue is low vram .. otherwise it's somewhat good
I personally dont mind DLSS, and now with the new transformer model even DLSS Performance at 4K will look good. But yes, you are going to run out of VRAM in more games than not, especially going forward.
In light of mediocre 5090 gains according to reviews today, this video here just became the most interesting one, especially for 4090 owners... May allow me to skip 5090 for and wait for 6090 (with my 4k 240hz OLED)!
That's basically what I'm going to do. I'm skipping 50-series, and if games start to struggle closer to the release of the 60-series I'll just use Lossless Scaling 4X. In my opinion it is better to have some artifacting using LSFG than it is to be out $3000 for mediocre performance uplifts.
DLSS4 performance has a beautiful image quality... Until you get to a person
bro my 5600 is always above 85%....and fps is mostly around 50fps....
Was the x2 frame gen feature for the 40 series supposed to go live with this 2.21 patch?
2x is the standard FG for 40xx series, the 3x/4x is for 50xx series
much better than the last few offerings and come on no final fantasy what kinda savage are you sir haha
I have no culture, I blame my parents 😔
well I guess we'll let it slide just this one time@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews
Why aren't you enabling ray reconstruction? This technology was developed to solve the blur and ghosting issues that occur when ray reconstruction is enabled. It definitely needed to be tested in your video. Without ray reconstruction, it's very difficult to understand the difference between DLSS 3 and 4.
As stated in the video this wasnt an image quality comparison video, but rather to answer the question about the impact on performance the new transformer model has. The performance differences are the same between the two methods, with or without RR.
It's hard to get a read on it just yet but hopefully it pans out
Terra Ware said he is going to do an image quality comparison video. I think that'll shine some more light on it.
right on@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews
Just a simple drive around with the 2 different dlss methods to check out the smearing would have really cherry on top, but great comparison video
Thank you, and yeah, if I had a bit more time I wouldve done just a simple test in motion too. The patch dropped oit of nowhere and I thought to quickly just show the performance differences as it has been something that has been speculated a lot. When the Override function becomes available via the Nvidia App I'll test a few more games and also show motion 👍
The Transformer model in Quality setting really impressed me. 1440p completely indistinguishable from native, even during movement and on distant detail. I hope people can find a way to rip the DLL so we can use it in other games that won't get patched.
It really does look good yeah. You'll be able to override it using the Nvidia App for the games that wont get updated.
hi! can i use nvidia control panel to cap my frame rate?
Yes
Yes you can!
Getting about 60fps 4k on my 4090 but I guess because I’m still using a 3900x it may be a bottleneck. Everything maxed but I can use the program *Lossless Scaling* from steam to double up the fps while also sharpening the image.
Maybe you have the 60 FPS cap on?
@@FloatingOfficial nope, set to 120
hate to say it but 3900x is a massive bottleneck on a 4090 compared to recent cpu's. Though I would try using DLSS
Don't know how you have that combo! Since Zen 2, cpu improvements have been substantial! I mean, the 4090 was bottlenecking many CPU's even at 4k when it came out. Now with these modern games, its even more severe I'd imagine! Although I must say that the performance disparity is, even given what I said, extreme! Could be memory issue too (or pcie speed)?
What are you doing with that CPU on a GPU like that ? 🤔😂
Does the PC version support HDR?
Yes
Yea 👍
Yes but unfortunately not adjustable natively as many would prefer it. As of now the 0-10 counter seems to lock the peak brightness at at least a 900 nits ceiling and make a small floor. It looks good, but will turn it off and compare with RTX HDR and set the ceiling according to my Displays higher peak brightness.
@@NearynHubwhat display are you using?
Yes but it appears to be broken
Lossless scale saved me a lot. I can add most of games to McFly ray tracing mod with lossless frame gen. Modders are gonna save the games and players.
with path tracing + ray reconstruction, the transformer model is a lot better than the old CNN one. before, especially on lower DLSS modes, the game had this kind of "painted" look to it - edge of objects moved around a lot and were not very defined. all of it gets fixed with transformer models. there is a performance penalty for me at least but it's worth it
Yeah indeed, character faces looked like melted wax models with PT and RR enabled. This is much better now!
Does 4K Ultra Performance even look better with the new model compared to 4K Performance and the old model???
I havent tested Ultra Performance yet at 4K, but DLSS Performance at 4K looks slightly better than DLSS Balanced at 4K, so I reckon Ultra Performance at worst would be equal to Performance 4K.
I've noticed it's blurry in RDR2, and the performance penalty gets worse the further the generation you go. It's not much, but it's still something when every FPS counts.
How do you get DLSS 4 in RDR2 ?
@@HDRGamingHub manually switching dlss and model probably
On my 2060 super, rdr2 dlss quality cnn is 80fps and dlss quality transformer is 69fps.. it's huge for me, not worth. Edit: As per some users, new Nvidia driver 571.96 found in some dev cuda toolkit improves performance alot for transformer model.. we should wait till Jan 30 for official driver release.
@@GameplayUnboxed Yep, so much hype around it but no one will tell you the huge cost it can have
huge visual diference is with path tracing and ray reconstruction enabled
Just tried it in Stalker 2, and there it makes an even bigger difference than Cyberpunk in my opinion. The game looks as if it is being rendered at a much higher resolution for about a 2% cost to performance. This Transformer model is really good!
oh god ... 3080 owner .. that made my day .. on 3440x1440* or on 4K* realy thinks is more stable and realy love NVIDIA .. <3
This update to existing DLSS technologies is more interesting to me than the launch of the 50-series ;)
Same on 4080 Performance slightly faster with CNN, which is disappointing. It looks better. But where was the 10% performance increase meant to come from? DLSS? FG? I'm not seeing it, probably just marking BS.
The performance improvement is supposed to come from FG but it doesnt seem to make a difference currently, so not sure if it's botched. The transformer model was always going to cost some performance but it should be mitigated by an increase with FG, which doesnt seem to work correctly currently.
It comes from FG when used with the old CNN model
@rohithmekala2608 So, it's pointless then. Most people will use the new model for better IQ.
Why nobody tested ray reconstruction FPS with new transformer model vs CNN?
I see a lot of people are reporting crashes with RR enabled. I'm not seeing crashes, but that's maybe a reason. That said, The performance differences between CNN and Transformer are identical for me with RR on or off. I wanted to mention it in the video but I completely forgot.
@Mostly_Positive_Reviews my 3080 ti has like 104 vs 84 fps with rr enabled cnn vs transformer
Happy new year 🥂🎉 Does transformer DLSS look much better than CNN? Could you tell the difference at first sight?
Thanks bud, and happy new year to you too! Yeah, there is quite a big difference. Lines are a lot cleaner, a lot less aliased, fences look a lot more stable, and flickering lights are also much improved. It's definitely worth the slight performance cost.
Thanks for this vid
Any time! Thanks for watching!
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviewsthere isn't much you can do with a craptop with Ryzen 3 7320U with soldered 8GB RAM
@@nsawatchlistbait289 Oh, yeah, soldered on components arent ideal :(
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews I thought I'd get the same performance as the steam deck because same architecture. But the r3 7320u has only 2 GPU compute units while steam deck has 8. And its got double the ram

Thanks for the comparison video! What driver did you use? 566.45 Fix
Thanks for watching! Yeah, 566.45 hotfix driver. I checked if there was a new driver before recording and there wasnt. But there probably will be one soon for the 50-series.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews Got it. Thanks for the answer!
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews Hi!! Did you install the NVIDIA App and you don't need to enable anything in it?
@@GENTZIS The game itself received this update so nothing needs to be done in the Nvidia App or anywhere else.
PT is a gimmick in gaming, way to expensive for current hardware
