One Year Later || IS CERAMIC COATING A LAWN MOWER WORTH IT? || eXmark 21 || Adams Polish
Переглядів 5 тис.2 роки тому
After I restored my eXmark 21 X series mower, I ceramic coated the entire unit top to bottom using Adam's Polish Graphene Coating. Then.... I DID NOTHING! I purposefully neglected the mower for the entire 2021 lawn season and put it away filthy for the winter. I wanted to test how much abuse the ceramic coating would take, especially under the deck. Today, we found out how it held up and answer...

HOME OWNER BEWARE \\\\ Do you really need LIME applications? // DONT PAY FOR WHAT YOU DONT NEED

For years I have heard professionals say... "all lawns in this area need lime applications". Landscapers, maintenance companies, turf managers, even licensed applicators (who should really know better) have all said it. Seeding, throw down lime. Fall or spring.. yep, you better get down some lime. The truth is, your lawns soil system can be vastly different from the one on the other side of the...

    The problem was not you. I had perfect conditions. Same as you looked fantastic initially. But then summer came. Never fully recovered. More than half didn’t survive the winter. You can’t take the blame for rain. Or mother nature. Black beauty ultra. Original. Dense shade. Sunny blend. If you look at the labels, majority of it is all the same stuff. Except for find fescue in the dense shade. None of the Jonathan Green grass seeds are tested by anyone. The cultivars have been around for a while. Is it terrible? No. Is it the best see it out there? No. Is it over priced for what it is? Yes. I still use it for touchup because it’s available locally in small amounts. But for a full overseed or renovation. I go with whatever blends are at the top of the NTEP.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to create this video and sharing your journey (great insights). I've thought about using that dense shade mix and I wouldn't have thought that I would need to treat it any differently, but your story really brought that my attention. Thanks! I can so relate to that sudden change of weather (I live in Chicago, it's Sept 3rd 2023 and I over-seeded a few weeks ago in mid August because we really had a cool spell and I thought that would carry through to the start of our normal cool fall weather, and surprise, surprise we've had some really hot weeks and now I'm trying to keep my new seeds alive. It's always tricky trying to dance with mother nature!

    I've been trying to grow grass in my dense shaded back yard for 4 years now. I've used 3 different seed types. The Jonathan Green Dense Shade grass was no better than the Kentucky 31 grass I grew. The Kentucky 31 actually lasted longer before thinning out and turning to bare dirt again.

  • @pauldrummond8641
    @pauldrummond8641 Рік тому

    I made a mistake using the dense shade mix. You see I have 3 trees that overlap at the back of my yard. The sun is able to creep through only for about 2 hrs in the mornings. Anyway I initially seeded with Dense Shade in the spring and it germinated nicely for a few months. In the summer though the grass started to regress a bit. They didn’t die but basically stopped growing and thinned out. Anyway I watched a lot of JG you tube videos and saw that the Shady nooks is a way better option for 90% shade. I bought 2 smaller 7lbs bags and reseeded today. Let me see what happens .

    I have 4 of the old yellow colored Ortho dial-n-spray sprayers that I got like twenty to twenty five years ago and they work great compared to the red ones like you use. I guess they changed something with the nozzles or something because they never clog. I spray a ton of liquids and they have worked great. They have a thick hard plastic straw tube that just touches the bottom of the tank with a little screen on the end. They don't have that floppy tube like the new ones have. Why do they have to change something that works great

      @@TerranceSTL What really helped me was attending a Zoom online prep course that was put on by Penn State and the PA Department of Ag. I would call your extension office and inquire about if that's available. Your state provides the appropriate literature in the category you are looking to be certified in as well as CORE materials. Read and REREAD all of it and use any practice tests that are in it. When I took the test I was surprised how many questions there were on the CORE exam on interior pest control topics. As a lawn guy, I didn't focus on that stuff because that wasn't what I was going to do with my license but CORE covers all types of basic knowledge. So know it all, not just lawn and landscape info. Lastly.... SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY there will be a lot of questions about safe handling, storage, use, and personal protective equipment. Also drill this into your head.... THE LABLE OF A PRODUCT IS WHERE 99% of all info is found so know how to read a label.

    • @thepursuitofgrowth964
      @thepursuitofgrowth964 2 роки тому

      I would wait until spring once the soil is no longer frozen and before you apply any products. This will give you the best picture of what's actually in your soil. There is no need to test your soil conditions more than once every few years unless you have specific reasons to monitor things more frequently. you could do an arrogate of your entire turf stand by collecting samples of the whole lawn or split it like you mentioned. Its really personal preference and how micro focused you want to be. I would just start with one test for your whole lawn as an average. I do one soil test for each customer that takes 8-10 plugs on average for the whole lawn.

    • @thepursuitofgrowth964
      @thepursuitofgrowth964 2 роки тому

      That is a tough question to answer without seeing the property and conditions but you will for sure want cool season grass types. Mixtures of Kentucky Bluegrass, Perennial Rye Grass, and Turf Type Tall Fescue are preferable. I like mixtures that are predominantly Tall Fescue with a small amount of Blue Grass. the sandiness of your soil will also play a part depending on if you live near the coast.

Right now fert prices are rising. what are they going to do when they can't get what they need to complete their applications? We are going to see what business models sink under pressure and which ones thrive.
