🤯STRANDED AT STEEP POINT😰 Going back to basics with no caravan!

That’s right, we are ditching the luxury of our caravan, heading off grid and going back to basics!
Come with us as we make the bumpy, sandy and corrugated 3 hour journey out to Shelter Bay in Edel Land National Park right near Steep Point, the most western point of mainland Australia
Little did we know our campsite was going to be right on the beach.
We spend a couple of days enjoying our beach camp fishing, snorkelling, stand-up paddle boarding and enjoying the diverse marine life around us, including dolphins, manta rays and sharks.
We head out to Steep Point, the most westerly point of mainland Australia and experience the slow-going rugged limestone terrain to enjoy watching the giant waves from the deep blue Indian Ocean crashing against the beautiful white Zuytdorp Cliffs.
Back at camp, we have to change sites from beach front to a little more secluded site and show you guys our “going back to basics” set up.
Rain on our last full day dampened our spirits slightly, but when the amount of rain closes Useless Loop Road and the potential of having to stay out in paradise for another night was on the cards, we weren’t too worried.

New subscriber wow epic episode love the energy. Great content cheers from South Africa
Have you been to Steep Point? If you have, what was your favourite thing? Ours would be perfect beachfront camping 🏖 If not, is it on your bucket list? We recommend it!👍
Unfortunately not this time around. We were at Big Lagoon from Sunday until yesterday and Useless Loop was closed the entire time. Francois Peron NP was also closed from Tuesday afternoon, due to the rain, but we were allowed out! Hope to pop back there on our way back to Perth in a couple of months - fingers crossed!
That snorkel is a shocker! Didn't realise that stainless amplified things so much.
Love your spice pantry ❤
That snorkel noise would drive me INSANE
Good information. Jess is great with her information on kms travelled and expenses. Tell us about the trouble with the vehicle you had. What communication gadgets did you use and expenses in relation to that.
Good vids guys. What was the name of the Lake you camped at?
Love the various montages with full volume music, very nicely done
I tried entering, useless loop road on Monday and was faced with a road closed sign grrrrrr
If ya haven’t already get a diff drop kit to save ya cv’s
How good! I'd say we where neighbours we where down at blackies camp for the week got there the day before the rain came in! Had the 2 tinnys
Some very good music selection… been to steep point… really worth the effort to go 👍!
Wow❤
Hi. Just watching your blog….how come you are running yr fridge on 12v when stationary instead of LPG
Go west young man, go west and you did
Went as far west as we could 😂😂😂. To be honest we would go back out there again and again and again. It’s an unreal place!
Loved it fam! Al im always here for fishing tips mate haha
hahaha Sounds good to me!
I've got to know - what is the music at 20 minutes?

Part 2 just as good as Part 1. The amazing scenery of the cliffs and rocks, compared to the beaches and sand. The rain just added to the adventure.
The rain is just part of it hey, no way we were going to let is destroy our time out there. So glad you enjoyed the episode too, we love producing them and sharing them for you watch 🫶.
Loved your latest episode. Vet in a Van you tube recently spent time on Dirk Hartog Island.
Thanks so much for watching, we appreciate the kind words 😍😍🤗🤗 Also thanks for the heads up, we will go and give Vet in a Van’s video a look.
Great video guys :D
Glad you enjoyed it!
Always watch you guys first up on a Sunday morning, just makes our day 🤗Epic footage of Steep Point , especially the giant seas smashing against the cliffs with all the spray…. Stunning 🤩 Not a bad spot to get stranded 🤙🏼
Naaawwww you guys 🤭🤗😊 We know it’ll be a while away yet, but we are already looking forward to your steep point video 😉
Great episode guys thanks for sharing it's on our bucket list to do 😊
Thankyou so much for the kind words 🥰 It’s honestly such a beautiful area, no matter the weather. We recommend it for sure. 👍
Goldie
Nice and easy, I like it!
Dirk Hartog is amazing budget for it and do it.
Sounds like we might have to take another trip out there just to head over to DHI 😂
@@Explore_oz you won’t regret it
Another great episode, guys 👍. Always enjoy getting up on a Sunday morning, sparking up a coffee, and checking out. What You guys are up to on your adventures . Camp spot looked like a great place to spend a couple of days 😀. Definitely need to come up with a name for the caravan just for fun 😂 we called ours Jayco Gyllenhaal 😆 it's pretty silly, but that's our style. we are two twin idiots 😅 . Take it easy, guys, safe travels, and will catch ya in the next one 👍🍻🤙
Name for the caravan 😅 looks like a boiled egg . White on the outside and has a yellow ish tinge to the timber cabinets on the inside 😂
Thankyou so much legend!!! So happy to have you watching our episodes ☺️, plus… Coffee is the only way to start the morning and day 😂 Have you got shelter bay on the list of places to visit?? We can’t wait to get back there again one day! We looooove the name ‘Jayco Gyllenhaal’, it’s absolutely brilliant!!! 😂😂😂. Not silly at all, it’s perfect 👌
Hahahhahaha I had a good ol laugh at the boiled egg 🥚 love it! Jess was a hard pass on it though 😂
@@Explore_ozha ha not too bad you can call him Eggy 😂 he he all good guys safe travels 🤙🍻👍
Getting 'stuck' at steep point...oh suffer in your jocks. It's a bit like the time (on lap 1) when I broke down just out of Lorne on the Great Ocean Road. We adventurers have to take the good with the great.
Hahaha bad day adventuring still beats a good day working 😂
What a cracker of a spot! Looks like you spotted a Giant Shovelnose Ray. Its on our list of places to drag the kids to lol!
Great episode guys
Thank you so much 😊. We are so happy you enjoyed it 👌👍
Hi guy's Good job on snagging the camp spot Jess you go girl, nice golden trevally. Alan what can we say hunterr gather ,not lol🤣 The big unidentified is. The Giant shovel nose ray they commonly grow between 2mtrs and 2.7mtrs, are common in the area you're in ,lovely creatures. Keep up the great work and have a lovely time Stay safe and can't wait to see next upload Cheers wazza. My mouth-watering over fresh tacos yummo
The big unidentified can stay in the water and we won’t have any troubles 😂😂😂 Shovel nose does sound about right for it though, just didn’t know they got the big 😳. Me, hunter gatherer? Nah… maybe one day 🧐😉 I will say though, I’m pretty proud of Jess catching the fish and I’m always happy to be out fished by her. Well almost happy about it 😂😂😂
Loving your content guys, My wife and I are about to set off in our 2013 Colorado and 1997 Jayco poptop. Its great to see people out there proving that you don't need the latest model car and van that will take so much out of your travelling $$$. Keep it up, might see you out there somewhere.
You guys will have an incredible time! One of the biggest things we’ve learnt is that it doesn’t matter how much your setup costs, we are all going to be parked up at the same place looking at the same amazing views 😍
Golden trevally is 😘👌🏽to eat. Well done jess. And cracking flathead Alan. Loved this video.
Mate those trevally tasted fantastic! We had them the next day in wraps and tasted damn good. Thanks as always for watching the vid :D :D :D
@Explore_oz always mate. Love them!
@Explore_oz always mate. Love them!
You’re taking us crabbing when we get out your way right?
@Explore_oz when you eventually get here, yes I am.
Were you guys affiliated with the caravan company?
Nope, we have no caravan company affiliations 😊☺️
Thanks for the tip for making wraps. What was the coffee pot you used?

Loved the video. Back to Basics for a change. Camping, Fishing and home made Wraps. Just sitting around relaxing. Great Drone footage.
It was exactly what we needed! We love the luxury of the caravan, but it's good for the soul getting back to basics and enjoying nature. We need to do it more often ;)
Allan, you are fired as the fisho. Haha, I love it guys, and you go, Jess.
Hey that’s ok with me, as long as Jess keeps catching fish we won’t go hungry 🤤 😂
Excellent,excellent, excellent.
Thank you so much! Hard for it not to be when it’s such an amazing place ☺️🥰
Wow that was a good time for you both, look forward to episode 2. Nice to go back to basics now and then, the caravan will feel like real luxury. Cheers Judy
Such an incredible time, we want to go back already! We honestly loved our time going back to basics, and of course we forgot a few things (tent pegs for one haha) but that makes it all the more enjoyable :D
You are both true adventurers, you make the most out of every moment , really love tagging along , thankyou the footage the laughs and awesome scenery well done to you both enjoy 😊 and thanks again for sharing 👍🥇
Thank you so much, that is so nice of you! We love getting out and exploring and is we can make you laugh or smile that makes us happy. We will continue to share our adventures for as long as we can.
Fantastic episode - your smiles say it all 😁 Looking forward to next week's episode.
Smiles for miles!! Such an incredible time adventuring out around there and getting off grid. Next weeks episode is just as good 👍
Have a look at Cowboy Kent Rollins and for bread, the camp oven king, he adds icing sugar.
Cheers we’ll look em up. Icing sugar could be an interesting touch 🙌👍
Fantastic episode guys! Adding Shelter Bay Campground to the list for sure, looks incredible.
You won’t be disappointed. We can’t recommend it enough!
It was the big dark hungry shark
Thankfully we didn’t get to find out if it was hungry or not 😂😂😂
🤣 lmao
Forgot the word ‘scary’ too 😂
Looks like ya had a good time out there
Mate, have you been out there? It’s beyond words, absolutely unreal.
@Explore_oz nah I am about 40 hours away and haven't made it past woomera Roxby downs
@lyonsy143 ahhh ok fair enough. Might be time to take a trip 🧐😉
@Explore_oz working on it, but need to stop the old lux having a constant loss rear main seal and gearbox input seal lol, then to get she who must be obeyed to like and get use to camping
Awesome episode, guys 👍that looks like a great spot to burn a few days away 😀 no idea what kind of shark that was, but it's definitely a bit big for my liking 😂 thanks for the wrap idea that's super simple will have to give it a shot, good job guys 👌🤙🍻
Thank ya so much for watching! Really appreciate it :D Thankful the shark wasn't a hungry one otherwise the whole trip could have been a bit different haha. If you do cook some wraps / bread make sure to tag us, we'd love to see how they turn out :D
@Explore_oz no worries, we will give it a shot at some stage. we will definitely mess it up somehow 🤣
That’s what makes it even more fun 😂😂😂. We have been known to chop up some chocolate and mix it through the dough… makes for an interesting dessert pizza base 😉
Absolutely fantastic video. The footage of the Dolphins and Manta Ray was just insane. So stoked that Jess shows ya how to make her wraps, yeahyy… we are going to have a go at making some 🤙🏼 Omg we can’t believe it, you camped on the very same site that we stayed on site 1- Turtle camp ⛺️ So cool , the best campsite right 🫶🏻🤗 Another awesome video guys , love travelling along with you 🚙🎥
How's the small world camping on the same site!! That's unreal! Super looking forward to your steep point content as it starts to role out ;) The wraps that Jess does work really well for pizza bases too, we've done some amazing dessert pizzas with them before. Used TimTams of course haha
Beautiful Enjoy ❤
Thankyou so so so much ☺️
I've literally started to follow you guys based on Jess' snacks😂 we are gearing up to start to travel, can't wait to get to WA and NT
Honestly…. Jess really does love her snacks 😂😂😂 Such an exciting time for you! When do you think you’ll be heading off for travel? WA and NT are probably our fav states/territories of Australia!
Squid, look in tackle shops for a silver can of lure sent. Peanut butter to the squid.
Sounds good, I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the tip :D
