Are you currently travelling? How much does each week cost you?
Is $1000 the normal amount?
Enjoy guys. Love your attitude to the whole scene.❤
nnaawww thank you so much :)
How good! Can't wait to follow your adventures :D
Yay, thank you!
loved your dribble. and very casual approach . keep safe
Appreciate that 👍. We are about as casual as it comes to the way we travel and do our life 😂
I've literally started to follow you guys based on Jess' snacks😂 we are gearing up to start to travel, can't wait to get to WA and NT
Honestly…. Jess really does love her snacks 😂😂😂
Such an exciting time for you! When do you think you’ll be heading off for travel?
WA and NT are probably our fav states/territories of Australia!
Keep on being you, champions!
Thankyou legend! We will always keep on being us 😁. How's Victoria / Melbourne treating you? Loving life down there?
Thanks for sharing. Great info and love your sense of humour.
Thank you so much 😊.
Great sjmmary of your travelling life.
Cheers Ian, greatly appreciate it 😃😀
Did we cover all the questions you might have had?
Hahaha thoroughly enjoyed guys. very fun
Glad you enjoyed it 👌. Thanks for the question 😂😂😅😅
Love watching your subscribers count climb 😊
Thankyou so much! It's a slow process, but we love sharing our adventures.
2 questions from Ben...
1. How do you handle mail?
2. How are you finding the R50?
2 from me...
1. Loving cooking with Jess but when is it Allans turn?
2. Jess, how do you put up with Allan?🤣
Right so.... had a good think about these questions....😅.
Ben - 1 Mail is really easy to handle. We have any normal mail (we receive almost none, it's al digital) addressed to my sisters house. She opens it and lets us know if it's anything important. As for packages, AusPost has that sorted. We use the auspost ap because you can choose a parcel collect locker in pretty much every town anywhere in Australia. If we know we are getting something, we just make sure to get it sent in the general direction we are headed.
2. The R50....still soooooo much to learn 🤣🤣🤣. The simplicity of the menu and all the options for photos and videos does make everything super simple though. Just pick a photo mode on the touch screen, point and shoot!
Con would be the cropping for recording video in 4K, but can be addressed with different framing so nothing too major. Better stabilisation would be nice, but we are thinking this camera might be more for face to camera rather than vlog type recording. Still got a lot to learn about the colour profiles, but that's all part of the fun!

1 - It's my turn soon enough!😁 I'm sure Jess has had enough cooking and just wants me to cook (and clean up) for her. Any suggestions on what I should cook? Always willing to give anything a go 😉
2 - Easy....she loves me (most of the time). She also loves going for long walks by herself 😆. But you're on to something, one of the things we didn't talk about is the fact that you are with each other 24/7 when you travel. Doesn't matter how much you love someone, there's only so much time you can spend together without starting to pick on each a bit 🤭
Hi guys, that was refreshing and informative. Nice to hear some real people for once. I'm almost a year on the road myself.
It's slightly different when travelling with dogs. But like you said all Australia is fantastic.
Hey Reg 👋
We’re glad you found it refreshing and informative, hopefully we covered any questions that you might have had.
Congrats on nearly a full year on the road, that’s amazing!
How do you find it travelling with dogs? Does it stop you from being able to do certain things at all?
@Explore_oz
Hi guys.
Travelling with dogs has its issues, but I go to places that are dog friendly. Obviously, national parks are out. They are my travel buddies so it's all about them. On longer travel days they rest in the back seat, with regular pit stops.
I guess if you really wanted to go to a national park there is always someone willing to look after the dogs for a little while.
We have dog sat for people while they go out and explore, which we love doing.
I'm with you Jess with the snacks... such an important part of any road trip. Keep up the great work and see you out there again some time.
Snacks are always important 😂. Stops us from getting hangry while waiting for the next main meal!
Which way are you heading early 2024? We’ll try organise a proper catchup somewhere around Australia 👌
@@Explore_oz Tassie in January then back to Brissie in April to sell the van, then ✈️
No way......You're selling the Van?!?! @@nigelandsueadventures 🤔. That's so exciting and scary at the same time!
Looking forward to seeing your overseas videos though. Where to first when you do leave Australia?
@@Explore_oz as yet still undecided. We have a few plans, but we will see what happens. And yeah we need to sell the van to finance the next stage of our journey. We already have one vehicle that’s been sitting in the mancave unused for 3 years! (Nigel’s Landcruiser)
Ohhhh don’t sell the Land Cruiser! It’ll be a collectors item soon enough
Excellent Video and information you two....
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed and hopefully we helped you with some good info 👌
Hi Allen and Jess ! Great video. We really enjoyed it! Lots of great information! New subs here from England
Oh hey there 👋
So glad you enjoyed the video and we hope you got some helpful info out of it. Have you got plans to visit Australia?
@@Explore_oz oh we wish, right now we are in Croatia with our motorhome.
One day maybe if we save up lots and lots 🌎
That's amazing@@thevigarfeeling . Croatia would be an incredible place to explore :D
If you ever do come down to Australia, let us know and we'll happily show you around if we are in the same place :D
Excellent videos.
Thankyou so much 🥰
Hi guys! You are doing exactly what we hope to be doing in a year or so. Love your down to earth approach, and your honesty about that mythical money tree on the back of the van.
Have subscribed and will be watching you guys with high interest!
Might see you on the road when you return to WA!
❤
Also, I too use davinci (on a desk top). looking at getting a laptop for when we are on the road full time, what laptop do you use, and do you find it sufficient or would you go for something else in the future?
Make the most of the coming year, because it's going to go by real quick as you get closer and closer to the day you leave! 😆. You won't be sorry once you hit the road though, such great time.
Once you do start your travels and you happen to find that tree....can you please let us know? 🤣😂
Roughly where in WA are you? We are always up for meeting people on the road 🙂
How good is it that DaVinci is free!@@cheetsoutnabout It can be pretty power hungry and does take a fair bit of performance to run smooth though.
We are using a MacBook Pro ( Model Identifier: MacBookPro16,3. Quad-Core Intel Core i5 Processor Speed: 1.4 GHz). It's a few years old, but it does the job. I only edit in 1080p, but do the final render in 4k. That way the editing is a little quicker and smoother. Just don't expect the render time to be quick 😆. Couldn't say what it would be like on PC though sorry.
@@Explore_oz we are just outside of manjimup in the Southwest, unless we manage to get our act together and sell before you get this far! We do one decent trip each year, and always hope to do weekenders, but never seem to have time.
@@Explore_oz it's been great on my desktop, but it wouldn't run on my little laptop, I'm thinking I will need a gaming laptop or something, davinci does love a bit of power behind it.
I don't count diesel as living on the road its part of the journey so if we need it we need it.
That's fair enough, I guess we just like to track how much we spend on it and check our average fuel usage.
Hi my wife loves Jess' hat where did you get it from?
Hey Peter 👋. Jess got the hat from a shop in Moana South Australia called Gypsy Life. The have an online store too if you're not in that area 👌. I'll pop the link in another comment for ya.
www.gypsylife.com.au/
Great Episode😊
Thank you so much 🥰. Plenty more content to come for you 🤙👍.
Is there anything particular you enjoy watching on UA-cam?
Question for you both .. do you have trades for your work or just get general work.. hence carry tools of trade 😊
Jess is a physio by trade and has done physio work a couple times while we have been on the road. And I _(Allan) don't have a 'trade' as such but i have worked in hospitality for over 10 years, as well as warehouse management, forklift driver, Personal trainer, caravan park grounsdman etc. The list goes on 🤣😂
We don't always go for work that we have done in the past, we like to learn new skills and more often then not, people are willing to show and teach us.
Great video, I thought you were going to say alcohol was your biggest expense.
Amazing number of kilometers and staggering fuel cost.
I thought your 2024 plans included a baby lol.
Not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing, but we haven't kept track of the $$$ spent on alcohol 😁😆
Doesn't take long for the km's to start racking up when travelling as you know! How many did you do in the Prado around Australia?
As for a baby.... we're both still too selfish to try and raise a little human 🤣😅
We only did 22000 klms in 7 months
Rookie numbers @@brianmercer0113 ! At least you're out there now in the DMAX chasing the sun :) :D
Ok i have to admit that i have a slight sense of jealousy....at the end of the day there is no real easy way of travelling without money....i appreciate the truths that you guys dont hide and willing to share....now i just need to find me a misso that is happy to support me financially and have the ability to earn on the road....i know its how you both roll currently and that works for you....but i come from older stock and have old school values...i would feel like less of a man and my women wouldn't be happy being the sole bread earner for to long....hearing the cost of 70k average for a year on the road your lucky to have her and is on a good wicket with her employer....anyway it works for you personally i wouldn't feel comfortable being a man.
Interesting comment.....Not to sure where you got your info and figures, but it certainly wasn't this video. We average around $1,000 per week expenses but quite often less so our spending would be somewhere around $52k per year not the $70k average you mentioned.
As for my 'misso' being the sole bread earner, that's also not true. We both work and contribute to our travels. Does she earn more than me? Sometimes yeah, but that's all good with me because it's OUR money that goes into a bank account for both of us. Same goes for when I'm earning more than her. If you feel as though she's on a 'good wicket with her employer' that's because she's been to uni, done the study worked her ass off and deserves every single cent she is paid. If anything she deserves more!
I have no issues feeling like a man in our relationship emotionally or financially. We are a couple that share everything we have.
P r o m o S M 🌸
👌👍🤙
