This is a beautiful spot deep in the Karoo, South Africa. There is no Signal, Water or Electricity, or even trees for birds to nest in. There is absolute silence and stars as far as the sky stretches. Bliss!!

Stellenbosch to Kersefontein Farm in RV 6

Wonderful breakfast at Kersefontein farm on the West Coast of South Africa. It is a really nice weened breakaway with lovely accommodation and the runway is in a good condition. Just look out for mud after rain and Springboks that could be roaming around on the runway.

After I fixed up the small issue with the flaps not being symmetrical I did another flight just because the weather was amazing and Cape Town was so beautiful. As you can hear on the radio I was not the only one with that idea. 00:00 Ground Run 00:49 Take Off 04:30 Reached the Ocean 08:16 Overhead Nuclear Power Plant 14:17 Turnaround Point 19:26 Downwind Leg 24:04 Final Approach

Just some fun flying, realized that my flaps are not perfectly symmetrical so I returned home, fixed it up (with the help of the AMO) and did another even more stunning flight in the afternoon.
Post Incident Test Flight, Morningstar, Pioneer 300

After the engine failure, both carburettors were removed and serviced, and the mixture was also set slightly richer. The engine is running beautifully now and after the carburettors were synchronized all the vibrations also disappeared. Time to take to the skies again!

But the engine didn’t die 😢
Engine was still running, just not running very good. I was in a 182 once where the engine stopped running at about 6000ft. The engine would not start with the key after several attempts, so we went into a dive and the prop finely started it. Remember this, the slower the plain is capable of flying, the farther and better it will glide to a landing There is a gauge that points to airports when close, and ours was showing one close enough to glide into, if need be. A great day to live and talk about, as these people had.
that rudder input just as you flared, yikes
I don’t care about any mistakes you made. I like how you acted calmly and professionally. And prioritised keeping the plane airworthy and your passenger calm. Well done sir
Looked like the prop was still moving to me.
nice job!
You got to have some balls amd be cool under pressure to be a pilot. Videos like this are very impressive to us non-pilots
Glider pilots don;t make a big issue at landing from 1300 feet !
Hy praat die taal!
those lawnmowers with wings
Great pilot. Good job.
I think your quick reactions were outstanding.
Didn't even work up a sweat 😂😂
That dude has ice water in his veins. Sis was pretty chill too.
As much as I love the idea of learning to fly, this kinda stuff makes me sweat bullets.
Yeah, you can get like 80% of the feeling in fight simulator + vr headset. Why risk everything?
good job 👍
He’s handling an emergency while communicating in two languages.. well done sir.
South Africa?
'Well done man ;) - congrats to your wife ;)
Glad you got as many landings as takeoff’s in the logbook 👍
Your sisters legs were too close to the stick, but she most likely would have reacted properly to accommodate the necessary movements. So glad it worked out like it did. Great job!
What did you find in the carburetor jet? That's a curious thing to happen.
I've watched this several times since it went up, and I keep coming back to his passenger. She's obviously stressed, but the way she kept quiet and wasn't a distraction was pretty neat to see. Her handling of the situation was every bit as exemplary as was his. I've "FINALLY" managed to teach my not-quite teenage daughter to stop shrieking at every little thing that startles her... a trait this lady certainly has down well.
That sisteris so dear. she was terrified making plaintive involintary noises. You see people's metal when things get real. Her brother is a Boss pilot! She is a deerheart.
Ok, so this was a partial engine failure?
Good job! NO panic
I see that you have maintained your composure, and that is the most important thing, followed by your training.
Every landing you walk away from is a good one 😉👍
How did the carb get blocked? What happened to the fuel filter?
Great job, and you even had the calm to ensure your sister that all is Ok and going fine. Even if you had any doubts, this helped her a lot, I can imagine. Additionally your briefed her for the event of an emergency and she seemingly took that serious and remembered. All over all great work and there is a lot to learn from your footage.
Set up. Convienent video scam cam. Dudes a liar
Yes, you caught me. Now please go and troll somebody else. Clearly you know nothing about airplanes. Go check out that Baby Shark video, you will understand that better.
Great
The quote: It depends how much pressure. Emotional arrousment supports your performance until a certain point. If you pass that sweet-spot of arrousment, the performance gets lower again. In the extreme case of an engine failure, most of us pass the sweet-spot and the quote appears to be correct. :)
Yeah you missed a few things but overall you get an A+ my friend. 2 souls flying and 2 souls walking away. That’s an A+ no matter how you got there.
Aviate...navigate...communicate. You did fine. Don't apologize. Also, MAJOR kudos to your passenger for not just screaming wildly. She did a PHENOMONEL job, just staying quiet and letting you focus. Major kudos to her.
France looks rough.
Nice job!
Engine sounds like a Rotax. .
Yes, but the engine noise bleeds through on the radio, thus un the gopro as well.
Great job!
Nicely done, meneer. Looks like you were well ahead of things.
The engine sounded like crap BEFORE takeoff!
Only noise that bleeds through on the radio
Handled that great! Good work!!
Ah tá, Só bocó do Corgo Rico acredita. 😂😂😂
Well done indeed. In the future please don't scare your sister like that. ;)
You don't rise to the occasion. You sink to the level of your training..... Love it.
Nicely done. Your sister was quite brave too. Maybe other pilots would say could have done this or that, I wouldn't know tbh. I just thought you handled the situation well and got it down without incident. I have been told that when flying a pilot usually keeps half an eye out for possible landing spots should things go sideways. Or be familiar with them on the route you fly.
What was your speed coming in
60kts
Hey, at least you had partial power!🤷♂🙏👍
I would be proud of sister for being smart
Top job respect 👏👏👏👏
