Are String Pin Machines Comparable to Free-Fall?

Watch me bowl a game on USBC Certified Competition Mode. Did I lose carry because of my ball reaction (the ball I was using to start) or because of the string pin machines? I practiced on string pin machines during my time at the University of Nebraska between 2008-2012 and these machines have come a long way since then! I actually really enjoyed bowling on them - they're quieter, just as fast ...

    Hi, love your channel. Im a senior and I roll the ball kinda like you do. I have a slow ball speed…..usually between 10.5-11.5mph…….I also slightly spin the ball versus roll as my fingers are above the ball equator. our house shot is crown pattern, oil to 43 feet. What speed do you normally roll? What did you slow down to with the Anger? Help?? Trying to figure out my next ball. ……so please give numbers for speed? Slow vs normal for you?

      It changes the direction of where your shoulder is pointing . Let’s say your standing with both feet toe to toe your shoulder is straight to the pins. Once you move that right foot back your right shoulder turns alil as while which changes the direction of how the ball travels down the lanes . Which allows the ball to have more room to hook

    Watching this video, my main takeaway is that solids are used to tear up the oil so you can transition to a pearl? I mean, why wouldn't you just stick with a strong pearl asymmetric ball so it retains more energy to hit the pocket and more likely guarantee a strike? Seeing the Pure Envy chug down the lane reminded me of why I swapped out my Widow 3.0 for a Hammer Effect. Got tired of the Widow gassing out and having to transition to a different ball. But maybe I'm using solids incorrectly?

    • @Jesusfanatic0711
      @Jesusfanatic0711 15 годин тому

      Well I get what your saying so players use a ball for something they aren’t comfortable with or lack in their game at that time, like if your not good at rolling the ball or more forward roll then a solid would help the ball get into a roll quicker since that person might get around it more and on the flip side a pearl ball for someone who really likes to roll it. I myself prefer hybrid or pearls because of my amount of roll and feel uncomfortable really rotating around the ball. Just overall saying that not everyone is gonna see that same transition as you or I would.

      @ well that’s great I’m glad you got something out of my comment and having different equipment for different houses and people are so important for Those reasons. However, I’m glad she explained that one stronger ball being really smooth and it indeed blends the pattern she’s on. So if you see a ball checkmark at a house like the anger she threw its weaker for that condition and of course vice versa. There’s a saying in the pba and tourneys which is you can’t fight bad ball reaction, so the wrong ball no matter what you do will work of it doesn’t blend it. Sorry I’m rambling but I love the sport and I think the more we share what we understand and help each other the better we can be together!

    I acquired a new ball that is heavier about a month and half ago. My arm and wrist is getting tired after about the second game. I was wondering how to strengthen my arm for the new weight and or should I try this brace? I have a brace but it is the traditional old black short wrist guard type.

  • @LyIaKing

    This is very similar to another technique I learned, to imagine a vertical line between the tip of your thumb to the tip of your index finger. Orienting it 12 to 6 o'clock, pointed straight at the lane, causes you to be under/inside the ball at the start, which makes you come around it more. Rotating the line counterclockwise balances the weight more and allows you to come up the back. When you said you almost suitcase it it made me think of that, since that makes you come straight up the back as long as you have a bit of a cupped wrist.

    I was just gifted a Scorpion Strike and have not yet had a chance to throw it. But, my Low Flare is a workhorse for me and I love it. It has a large margin of error for me if I miss my mark, like you were saying. I just recently got a Phaze II and use that as my first ball out and follow through with the Low Flare either halfway through game 2 or beginning of game 3. It allows me to almost keep my same position and line on the lanes for all 3 games.

    To me, it looked like the Envy was using lots of its energy through the mid-lane and didn’t have enough left to come back from the dry outside. The Anger retained its energy until hitting the dry and used it to turn into the pocket. It was much more forgiving. You had to be perfect with the Envy on this pattern, but you had more options with the Anger.
