Amazing clarity. David had a way of getting people out of the sauce and into observation mode, or base reality. The benefits of sexual chasity or even advanced tantra would be great discussion material. Discharging energy through orgasm appears to really power up the personality and give it super powers at hijacking the awareness control panel lol. But seriously. It would be a great series of practical connections for people to make and benefit from. Also, as a married person, I can attest to the fact that these particular practices are rarely met with open arms. Haha. Navigating the personality waters of someone you love dearly makes for lots of creative challenges. I hope the playful spirit of my comment reflects the truth. Be well dear friends

Is traditional religious belief a form of conditioning of the personality from ego?, I've spoken to many people and this seems to be the case. They can't see past the paradox of the mind, it's natural state and self realization. They're still resorting to default programing.

5:15 this is why permission slips are needed for most people so that the body and mind can be engage in something that it thinks will allow it to experience th a real truth.

The personality has to die, but the personality never goes anywhere. Paradox indeed.

The aspects that aren't aligned with truth subside and die, allowing the traits of Being to emerge in its place. Empathy, compassion, love. Try being hyper aware of the evil doers around us and being able to see them for the One that they are. Beings lost in the sauce. It's a great way to test Empathy. Getting to a place of compassion is real work

Great speech. Thanks to your videos, my meditation practice has shot into space. I am experiencing what you describe. Being in everyday life, I am starting to be more of a consciousness than a personality and overthinking. “I see” my emotions, feelings and survival programs instead of diving into them and letting them take over. When I direct the light of consciousness at them, they dissolve without hurting my psyche. This has reduced my mental disorders by about 85% or even more.

Regarding meditation, the two most important words are relaxation and retreat. Relaxation is actually the opposite of doing so you are letting go of all the things that you are doing internally. That is relaxation. Retreat is something similar. Because you are retreating within yourself. You are pulling your attention back to the ground of being. If you just understands these two things all further lecturing is unnecessary.

this guy acts like comfort and luxury isn't a good thing...good food tastes good, swimming in tropical waters feels good, being around friends and loved ones is incredible...i've felt content watching a movie with a loved one....just because that is a creature comfort, doesn't mean its a bad thing... also, he acts like everybody is suffering, not everyone is living in pain and sorrow...look at millionaires, people with healthy relationships, in fulfilling careers, many do not need to meditate...they just do what makes them happy... thats the key, just be honest with yourself and do what makes you happy

I was getting up from a morning meditation a couple years ago and as I did the truth of the ego or the ego lies dissolved from my conscience. I guess. Because the truth that we aren't the personality or the experience's or the name or the accomplishments became glaringly apparent. I actually felt embarrassed that I ever believed in it at all. As if there were a few beings around me watching my response to this truth. It was a life changing moment. So now I try to notice how I'm still giving the personality more time than I should. It's a life long process I guess.

Buckle up. It's a long ride. I started meditation at 19 in 1990. 4 years ago was when I finally had the first true idea that the personality is smoke and bullshit. That was a lot of years lol. Friendships help the journey. Keep at it no matter what. The personality loves to hijack the awareness control panel Recognizing it is huge, so don't look at them as failures, see them as the practice they are. Be well!

Great talk. One huge impact of my meditation practice over the years is that my heart has been blown wide open. I often weep at the suffering of total Strangers without necessarily suffering myself or making it about me. My capacity for compassion w difficult people is high, I love openly and freely, and my life goals have shifted from personal accomplishments to how best I can serve others.

I love to meditate. It calms me perfectly, but after doing it regulary, evan after 3-4 days, i became anxious on the daily level + i loose my sleep. Today i google it, and look what it says: “Why does meditation make me so anxious? “Similar to attention-enhancing drugs like coffee, Ritalin and cocaine, meditation can increase focus and alertness,” says Britton. “But when taken too far that can lead to anxiety, panic and insomnia, because there is both neuroanatomical and neurochemical overlap between attention and arousal systems in the brain.”

I usually enjoy your lessons, but this one was hard to swallow & a little too hippy-trippy for me to accept as Truth. Easy to accept in a kumbaya atmosphere in a classroom, quite the opposite in the real world. If people are taught that there's no free will & everything just happens to & through them with no control, then you have the makings of no civilized society. Billions of people walking around with the belief that "What I'm doing is coming from God & not me" is a recipe for atrocities, injustices & a completely failed society. Every day i have thoughts that, if acted upon, would be very detrimental for me: legally & morally. We grow as beings when we control our impulses, urges & recognize that we have a duty not to harm any other sentient being; not pass off our behaviors as inevitable, unfortunate happenings "because God was manifesting through me to hurt another person". It's what separates us from animals & allows us to experience higher consciousness. Dangerous philosophy, David.

David, I need your advice. I've been meditating for about six years now and most of the time I'm present. I'm no longer a personality. Awareness permeates throughout my life continuously. The only difficulty I have is when I'm talking to people. I can't socialize properly without a personality. I don't click with people. It is no longer like it was before. Is it normal what I'm experiencing? Because my mind doesn't come up with things to say when the other person talks to me. I get into silence, or if I say something, it feels somewhat forced. People can sense that-they notice I'm not talking like an ego. How can I overcome this? Should I train myself to socialize more with people? Socializing has become a conscious activity for me; it's no longer a reflex like when "I was" the personality.

Operating with constant observational vigilance isn't possible immediately, or even after years of effort. We chip away so that the energetic script electrically erodes, decaying the identity of falsehoods within our field of awareness. This exercise is the point, not the imagined ascent to an idealized state. It's simply lacing up your boots and getting in the trench of awareness and observation. There's a lot of individual facets of this path we can participate in, such as striving for impeccability in the most mundane tasks. Our inner work will never cease while we occupy these bodies.

Schopenhauer is a great thinker. All I need do is come into my backyard (garden in Albion) and my heart finds with love for all the nature I find there. The birdies singing to me, the bees buzzing gratefully, and my kitties lazing in the sun. And my yard is small and as common as can be. But, I can find the good things there such as little squirrels who come get peanuts from my fingers.

One thing I notice is just because you accept the end of your physical life doesn't mean you're actually going to physically die at that time. Sometimes it does, but many times there is a shift in health and the body responds, because you release all resistance.

We are one made up of three parts. Body, mind, spirit. Trying to isolate one and demonize the others is a bit absurd to me. My spirit allows me to interact with my mind, my mind with my body, and my body with the physical world around me. Is this practice more for simple minded people always stuck in their thoughts? Some people don't even have an internal monologue.

    • @jacobmilette8808
