    The thoughts aren't aware, even though they might claim to be

      the claiming IS the "problem". claiming = identification AS a self, yea?

    Whoa, that’s a super clear explanation. Gem of a video. Thank you!
    Edit: I think the personality is not aware, but I do think that thoughts, emotions and the resulting personality serve an important purpose in allowing awareness to express and experience more of itself. Awareness is not separate from anything.

      Sounds like bypassing by manipulating belief. Inquiry without any assumption may do the trick. 🎉❤

      The subconscious mind does not process the word 'not.' Just a little something to keep in mind when working with affirmations.

      It takes a body / mind to say “I’m not the body / mind.”
      What is there before that?

    Everyday is learning lessons. My main struggle is feeling other people's pain. I want to help them but feel I can't even help myself. I need to get back into Meditation and quiet my mind. Nature eases my mind the same way. Very good reminder. Thank you, I have a lot of work to do:)💗💗💗

    Everything is Brahman. The sense of division from body, world and awareness dissolves and so one becomes absorbed in samadhi.

    From what I've observed, I'm 78, is that even of those that are 'awake' are really only aware of their ignorance and lack of total awareness of life..

    • @KyeColymore

      they are aware that they are lacking full awareness of life, so yes they are aware of their ignorance in a sense. it seems like you're suggesting that it's better for someone to be ignorant of their ignorance? or were you just stating how confusing this life thing is whenever we try to get a grasp of it lol

      Can’t use the Buddha to seek the Buddha.
      Krishnamurti said “once you are aware you’re aware, you are no longer aware.”
      Awareness IS before the character or personality says “I’m aware of being aware” no?

    Might it be that Our words and sounds are bubbles which burst and explain nothing about experience ?

    • @ZenPsych
      @ZenPsych  Місяць тому +4

      Ultimately this is the case, however the words (concepts) point to an experience and motivate us to have the experience. The Zen masters focus on the need to practice meditation to "experience" the Truth.

    This is alike to saying: I am (name). In fact, you are not a name, however, given one to use in this realm. So why claim to be something that you're not? Because the personality believes it's awake.

    Does everyone experience awareness in the same way?

    • @ZenPsych
      @ZenPsych  2 місяці тому +10

      The way that people discover their true nature may be different, but the awareness itself is exactly the same.

    I’ve been committed to sadhana for 55 yrs and have to say TM Ie transcendental meditation is effortless, there is no force trying to watch thoughts or awareness. The mind sinks into an expansive silent awareness effortlessly. And the mind comes out infused w calmness and a sense of presence and detachment that grows day by day.
    I’m not invested in any way to write this,. There is literally no force or strain. Thoughts come and go but the mind using a sound mantra in a specific way gives the mind a chance to fall into the source. .i still do Ramana self inquiry, vipassana, breath work, japa occasionally but the foundation is that by learning TM decades ago the mind. Learned a habit of deep sinking into pure awareness ,then afterwards slowly
    Life takes on less struggle and identification.

    And if you can be aware of awareness you aren’t that either

    • @youarewhatyourelookingfor4496
      @youarewhatyourelookingfor4496 Місяць тому +1

      Exactly. Krishnamurti said
      “Once you are aware you are aware, you are no longer aware.”
      I feel what he probably meant by that is that if I’m aware I’m aware, it’s the personality making that claiming. Awareness already is at all times.
      I was in retreat with Adyashanti last year and someone asked “what can we do then?”
      He basically said that as far as the character goes, to do what David is saying here.
      Continue to turn attention towards awareness.
      Ultimately it’s awareness that wakes up to itself, much to the disappointment of the personality that wants to be there to experience its own absence and then claim it’s enlightened. 😂😂
      The action figure doesn’t get awakened, but it sure tries like hell.

      I think he meant that everyone is aware but to be aware OF that IS awareness.. it’s meta-aware .. so first you are unaware of being aware then you are just that awareness..
      for example.. you have never been in pain without being aware of it because pain IS the actual experience of discomfort so
      a baby can’t cognize pain or it’s source so it thinks it IS pain in that moment not that it is IN pain
      is it’s taking the observer’s seat instead of the superstar of your the movie.. karma IS the story ITSELF, no narrative no character for karma to be enacted upon
      What do you think?
