How to use an iPhone with the YoloBox Pro
Connecting an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad to the YoloBox Pro is really simple and you only need two cables to do it. Either a lightning to HDMI or USB-C to HDMI.

HDMI Loop Out with the YoloBox Pro and Atomos Ninja V
Переглядів 1,9 тис.Рік тому
Connecting the YoloBox Pro to the Atomos Ninja V should be easy. Plug in via HDMI and it works. Sadly, it’s not always that simple. Atomos products have a habit of interpreting or translating the correct EDID or HDCP data between HDMI devices, so I’ve found the solution - an EDID Emulator. In this video I go through what the EDID emulator does and why I’m never going to leave home without one. ...

How can i take the videos from 2009 from it to a pc or a phone??
The easiest way, if you still have the video to rca cable, is to use the Elgato Video Capture to transfer your footage from the camera to a PC or Mac. Tom Buck has a good video on his channel about it: ua-cam.com/video/U1xhEN9qWwk/v-deo.htmlsi=iTfyx29DW3ZS8Dyc Hope that helps!
Thank you for demonstrating. Do you know if there is a way to manage the SD card content in a directory structure? It really would be nice if when selecting sources I could go to various directories for better organization.
I’ve not found a different way to show or interpret the SD card file structure I’m afraid.
Helo Just need a bit of help pls I have toolbox ultra and want to use iPhone to do tik tok live . When I plug the hdmi to iPhone the mirrored image is very small, I am using camera mode on iPhone. Could u help me with that problem
@@essexcouture8204 What iPhone are you using?
If you want to use your iPhone as a camera, you need to download Blackmagic camera
Do you know if its possible to use the same yolobox with multiple Yololiv accounts. I am looking at purchasing a used device and want to make sure it wont be tied to the previous owner.
I’m not 100% sure you can but if you did a full system reset on the 2nd hand YoloBox, my guess is that would remove the account that was tied to it
Can i connect this way and bring in live content from my iphone? Essentially as another camera?
This isn’t something I’ve tried but I can’t see why this wouldn’t work, except if the lighting to HDMI protocol doesn’t allow content to be streamed over it, depending on the platform you are using.
Excuse my question, i'm a Atem Mini pro user. Is that function only available with the Yolo pro model?
I know Rode have just announced it as a feature on their new VideoCaster but YoloBox have offered this since the Pro version and I believe it’s also in the Ultra. They work in different ways though. The YoloBox’s iteration is based on timing, so you set the switch to occur every 10 seconds, whereas the VideoCaster from Rode appears to have implemented it based on who is speaking (which I think is technology they acquired when they bought Mackie and their DLZ creator lineup)
@@jw_film thanks , yes this is what i saw, auto switching cameras by sound when you play music would be the baddest idea ever. Yolobox offers the best of all in one, but i'm gonna stick to my atem mini pro, cheaper.
can I receive phone call during live stream with yolobox pro ?
Not something I have tested so I’m unsure if this would work
Greetings everyone! I have tried everything to get the audio pass through the usb c and I can’t get it to work. The video comes through but the audio doesn’t. I’m able to select Yolobox for video but I don’t see Yolobox for audio in zoom. I’ve made sure I had the latest version for both Yolobox pro and OS update as well. The audio meter read sound coming in to the Yolobox but nothing from the usb c as a webcam. Any recommendations to resolve this issue?🤔
@@Bryanegreenlee Hey there! Sorry to hear you’re having problems with the USB-C output. First off, what pc/laptop are you using to run Zoom? What inputs are you utilising on the YoloBox itself? And are you using a YoloBox, a YoloBox Pro/YoloBox Mini/Yolobox Ultra?
Hello 👋🏾, I need to go live with Yololive multi Camera while I screen record to my computer, My Question is Can I add my laptop screen capture on Yololiv multi camera section as Camera Source? So that that i can capture & mix my Live with different angles
@@KULKID I think that would cause an infinite loop issue with the stream and recording itself. @@jw_film thank you so much for the reply, i'd like to ask one more thing, how do i exactly transfer photos or recordings to my pc? what port am i gonna have to use?
@@thesss4835 Its certainly not as easy as it used to be. When I originally made this video, I had a PC with a working FireWire port so could offload the footage using that. These days FireWire has almost been dropped, so I think you’ll need to use the video cable that comes with the camera and convert it into a device like an Elgato Video Capture (the one with the old style connectors). Tom Buck has some good videos on his channel on his channel about transferring older cameras to a computer (I believe his is a Mac workflow)
You mentioned you wouldn’t use the 50-100 for sports photography. I’m curious why. I have a 70-200 Tamron, and I like it, but I thought the 1.8 would open even more doors for me. Is there enough difference between the 1.8 and 2.8 to purchase the 50-100? I have an eos R7, and I’m usually shooting indoor sports like basketball and hockey. Thank you!
@@CameronYoos I think the reason I said this is that the Canon has a much faster autofocus system, when paired with a Canon body. Just be aware the 50-100 is a super 35 lens, so you’re 70-200 on the R7 is actually giving you more reach than the 50-100 would

What connector does the monitor connect to this camera, I mean standard and not HDMI?
@@ggdfggdfgdffgfddg34 The monitor connector is a proprietary connector joined to the monitor itself, much like the Sony FS5/FX6, so if you want to replace the cable, you’ll sadly need to replace the monitor. Can you do this with a pc?
You can connect your PC to the YoloBox Pro using HDMI but if you’re PC only has Display Port out, then you’ll need a Display Port to HDMI adapter and the YoloBox Pro will then interpret that signal to a 1080 signal. Your pc will see the YoloBox Pro as an external monitor. Hope that helps!

@@jw_filmhow do you put any lens on yhis
I love my EVA1 Use it for all my work, live sports, documentary and Corprate work, it's a very versatile camera.
The EVA is still a great camera and produces a great image. Sadly here in the UK, the whole market for what I do is Sony now, so I’ve had to move over
The highlight roll-off difference is a dealbreaker here ! Was it in a totally controlled environment? Just to confirm that it was really the lens because I have never seen such a big difference between lenses.
When I record in monitor mode on Yolobox PRO I usually use external Samsung SSD which is connected via USB C to Yolobox. I have noticed that recorded files are not in 60fps but 52, 53 or 54 fps. Does this also happen when you use Program out and record to Ninja?

I am considering going from my s5iix to the eva 1 as it is very similar but bigger body, more audio options, s35 sensor and still supports BRAW with my Video Assist 5 12g
I would actually stick with the S5 IIX over the EVA. The EVA is nearly 7 years old and while its image is wonderful, the ergonomic benefits of the S5iix outweigh what the EVA can deliver in 2024. The audio options for the s5 iix can be expanded using the DMW XLR module for Panasonic mirrorless cameras which brings the audio in line with (and surpasses the eva in noise floor) While it sounds like I’m doing the EVA a disservice, I’ve thoroughly loved using it but as of September 2023, I retired it from my kit. It’s a video I need to make for the channel explaining why.
I want the L mount versión of this camera 😢
At least the mft versión 😢
Sadly I don’t think this will come to pass 😞
It would be nice if there was some kind of audio sensing switching, if you got a microphone input on the HDMI embedded stream or something like that
any way to use the USB-in on the yolobox? from what I can tell there is software to turn an iPhone into a USB webcam but it requires an app both on the iPhone and the receiving computer. there do seem to be Linux clients for apps like DroidCam
Sadly I don’t think this is possible with the YoloBox Pro, however I would reach out to YoloLiv themselves to see if they can help with your question 🙂
I guess using an HDMI capture card to convert the HDMI to USB-A should work.
I have both the MV800 and the MV890. It was a great little cam back in the day. Unfortunately it doesn’t perform well in a digital age.
I have the Yolobox MINI and I can't get it to be recognized by my PC or my mac. The usb a port works with webcams but even with the usb our turned on my computer does not see it. Do you have any troubleshooting ideas?
Hi there. The YoloBox Mini doesn’t have a USB output, so you won’t be able to connect to your PC that way. A solution you could use is use the HDMi output port in conjunction with an Elgato CamLink to convert the HDMI to USB, then your YoloBox Mini would be seen by your computer. Hope that helps!
@@jw_film Thanks for your reply. The product page says it works as a webcam. I think I got a faulty device. I’m just using it with a capture card. That frees up the usb so I can switch two cameras.
🙋I HAVE A COUPLE QUESTIONS HERE PLEASE: CAN I use Yolobox to stream live [iPad] gaming (like PUBG mobile) with [USB-A webcam] with [USB-C mic] ??? And Yolobox can deal with green screen from webcam??? And how fast is the fps from the iPad to Yolobox for gaming??? Please advise me because I’m considering to get this box for gaming live streaming from my iPad as my laptop couldn’t handle it. I’m big fan and that will HUGE if u couldn’t help me 🙏 Thaaaaaanks
Hi there! This isn’t something I’ve personally tested with this setup, however I shall put together a test and see what the results are from it. From memory, the YoloBox can chroma key out a green screen with a webcam, and the FPS output from the YoloBox is 30fps (whether streaming or using HDMI). The USB-C microphone and iPad I’ll have to test. I’ll let you know the results when I can.
Do you think the EVA 1 is still a good camera worth getting in 2024? I want to upgrade from my Panasonic Camcorder. I really like the picture of the S1H and EVA 1, a bit more of the eva 1 but i don't know if its worth getting in the beginning? I could get a GH5s for 1000€ with sigma 18-35, ND filter, gimbal. S1H body only is 1500€ and eva would be around 2000€ without a lens
A lot has changed in terms of my own work since I made this video about the EVA, and despite my best efforts to make a follow up, I can’t seem to put “pen to paper”. The EVA’s image quality is still fantastic but the biggest hurdle I found here in the UK is that producer’s just haven’t heard of it, which did impact the amount of work I was able to take on and in the end I ended hiring an FS7 and C300 more and more for commercial jobs. My own work has now moved into more PR and away from the traditional corporate work and for that I lean almost exclusively on the Sony FX3 now (which I got before Panasonic announced their new S5 II lineup). The EVA has definitely had its time and is no longer supported by Panasonic, so if you are looking to purchase and want to stay with Panasonic then the S5 II is going to be the way to go (the sigma EF to L adapter is great with EF lenses) or if you’re not brand committed then go for the Sony FX30 (used the Sigma 18-35 on it a few times with the Sigma EF to E adapter and again the autofocus just works like a native lens).
@@jw_film thanks for the answer. To me it’s a bit crazy that producer decide to hire people depending on their gear 😅 I mean the Varicam colours, for me, are so beautiful. It’s sad to hear that Panasonic kinda abandoned Their cinema cameras, I just like the form factor a bit more, but the price for these cinema camcorders are out of my budget. I guess you get used to the DSLM form factor. I‘m not really brand committed. To me Panasonic always had the most video functions out of All the other brands, that’s why I only looked for Panasonic, but yeah maybe I should also take a look at the FX30 or maybe canon. Thank you for your answer, it helped me :-)
@@Jake_203 No worries at all. It’s down to what’s in production houses here that dictates operators and their camera packages and Sony pretty much have the market cornered here in the UK. Most of the scenarios would be multi cam shoots with FX9/FS7 and throwing the EVA into the mix just wasn’t what they were after. I think the EVA wasn’t a big seller (despite the fact that I thought he competed with the FS7 and then some). We might get an EVA 2 but I highly doubt it. Hope to be proven wrong 😁
@@jw_film ah okay, I understand ^^ I hope too, but we‘ll see :D i don‘t know what Panasonic will release this year, so I’m always struggling to decide if I should buy a camera now or just wait for what they will release, maybe a S1h ii? But I think I’ll buy the s5 ii or s5 ii x, only problem I read is, that they have noticeable moire, so some traded their S5 ii for the S1H because of that
Looks promising. Thank you!
Do you notice an increase in contrast and/or saturation of material when outputting to Zoom via USB - C?
Great channel, keep it up !
Thank you!
First, thank you for creating these videos. My question is, can I use the regular YoloBox to do this? I do not have the Pro. Thank you.
You won't be able to output via the USB-C, as I believe the USB-C on the original YoloBox is just a power connector, not a data transfer port. The way I would do this with the original YoloBox is to use the HDMI output from it to a separate capture card, something like the Elgato CamLink, to convert that HDMI signal into a USB data transfer.
@@jw_film thank you. I have used HDMI to a hub and directly to a laptop. Nothing works. I have tried to contact YoloLiv and I cannot find a way to speak to anyone. I need support. Hello, I have a question, I need to make a live broadcast of another live broadcast, so far I am doing tests and apparently it is possible, but the question is, how will Facebook see it in this case? Will he take it as plagiarism and block the account? 😜 I don't know if you understood it 😂 but what I need to do is transmit a massive event from a parent church to the local church in another region, the idea is in the middle of the transmission when there is advertising, put ours already uploaded to the pre-recorded yolo and something like combining transmissions and when the general transmission returns it switches to it.👍 Until now I have the permission of the main pastor, but it is verbal, I don't know if Facebook won't be interested in that and will take it as theft anyway😂😂 The other thing that occurs to me is to request the moderation of the fanpage so that in a certain way Facebook when they see who is doing the broadcast is for them to be a moderator and not question it so much. Sorry for the tangled hahaha I hope the question is understood
My understanding of "restreaming a live stream" in this manner through Facebook would count as "theft" unless you are the progenitor of the original stream.
What format do we need for the SSD drive? I'm plugging one in and it's not showing up. Thanks.
SSD should be in exFat
Thanks for the great video. In your expert opinion, what would you suggest I use if i want have 3 camera angle switcher, but not stream. Its between the Yolo and the atem. Which would output the best quality?
Honestly as much as I love the YoloBox, it’s output file is 8 bit 420 where as the Atem’s output a 10 bit 422 ProRes file which is much more robust. You can also control the recording bit rate more as well as get the ISO recordings and the mix with a Da Vinci Resolve project.
HDMI handshakes are the bane of video production. i am going to buy some of those units, i didnt know they were a thing. thank you. subbed and liked.
If i buy it but my mic still use 3.5mm plug directly to GH5 not xlr1, Am I still has benefit of XLR1 or not ?
You will need to convert your 3.5mm microphone to XLr using an adapter (depending on the mic you have). The 3.5mm input on your GH5 will not work when the XLR1 module is attached to the hotshoe.
Any news on a fix for frame dropping issues with pro ?
I’ve not experienced any drop frames with my unit. What’s your setup with the YoloBox Pro?
@jw_film direct from camera into unit under replay conditions its most noticeable. Also smooth pan appears jerky on yolopro monitor and output to external streaming device or led screen. Usable but NOT at pro level as advertised. Yolopro has potential but R and D needs to be addressed.
@@johndaskey8025 That is an odd one. I’ll do some testing my side and see if I can replicate the results. What cameras do you use with the YoloBox Pro? I’m a Panasonic shooter.
I got Yolobox pro and I want ask if I can I connect Rode wireless go ii , to it ? Also how can I install instagram and other platforms to stream?
The Rode Wireless Go II can be connected using a 3.5mm mic cable directly to the YoloBox’s mic jack, or connect it to your camera and then take the audio through the HDMI. The YoloBox Pro has sign in options through the settings options for UA-cam, Facebook and Twitch. Instagram and TikTok aren’t available through the YoloBox Pro, for those you’ll actually need the Instream (also made by YoloLiv). Instagram and TikTok restrict the use of their apps to iOS or Android devices and because the Instream runs on the Android operating system, it comes with those apps installed.
But no sound output?
There is a sound ouput when playing media through either the iPhone or iPad. The video I used to show in this example doesn't have an audio track - something I didn't show but it does output sound. Sorry for the confusion!
Is the Sony A7 S III better than Panasonic AU EVA1?
That’s a tough one to dive into, but here goes! I have a Sony FX3 and frequently mix the cameras on productions (usually the EVA as the talking head and then the FX3 as the b cam/b roll/sequence camera and then I match them in the edit using Cinematch). The EVA is a long form workhorse and I’m regularly using the SDI and HDMI sources at the same time (one for a ninja, one for a wireless video transmission - not to say the same can’t be done with the fx3, you have to loop it out through the ninja). The FX3 however is far more flexible for my work now in 2023 than the EVA. The image between them is very comparable but you do see the difference in noise between the two sensors but both have robust enough internal codecs to cope with the matching process. Here in 2023, the EVA has had its time and I much prefer using the FX3. I pretty much have a 1-5 stop variable ND on the FX3 all the time and that pretty much puts it neck and neck with the FX6 (I shoot a lot of corporate and the lack of a 10 bit LongGOP codec in the FX6 is what puts me off it). Better than the A7S III? Yes and No. The A7S III is a photo first camera to me and doesn’t have the ergonomics I rely on. Better than the FX3? Absolutely not. Been a bit bogged down with client work as of late but this is a comparison video I’ve got planned and want to bring out before September.
And what are the settings to shoot slow motion video in 7d mark II
7D Mark 2 has a 1080 50fps slow motion setting. Try to keep your shutter at 1/100. It is a bit softer than shooting 25fps. You also lose your Autofocus abilities in 50fps.
@@jw_film ok I'll try thank you
How can I change aspect ratio in 7dii
The aspect ratio on the 7D Mark II is locked to 16x9. I added the black bars to simulate 2:35 in the edit.
Do you face the similar issue while looping out Yolo box to other HDMI sink device? Like TV or monitor. If yes, my suspicions is the Yolo box hdmi port has compatibility issue in fetching EDID, its I2C bus may be not robust.
Oddly enough I haven’t, the main ones are with Atomos products as part of the signal chain. What I do run into is the YoloBox Pro HDMI hard coding 1080 50fps out with no way to change that. That has caught me a few times and I wish there was a feature in the menu to change that.
So far, the Yolobox has serious audio lag when using USB-C out to Zoom. Curtiss Judd noted this way back when he first reviewed it. I've had no success with USB-C because of this flaw.
That’s why I’ve been using it mostly as a media player as opposed to running a full stream through USB-C at the moment. I’ve been using the HDMI out to capture card more because of this. Hopefully it will be a firmware update along the lines to try and correct.
Do we know if this has been resolved yet via a firmware update?@@jw_film
Not as I've seen yet. @@twiddyobx
