Which Mic Should YOU Use for YouTube?
I've been on a quest to find the best mic to use for making UA-cam videos. In this video I compare the Fifine K688 condenser mic vs the Deity D3 Pro shotgun mic to see if one microphone really stands out over the other.
I mostly use microphones for creating UA-cam videos but every now and then I need to use it for streaming, video calls, or podcasts, and it's nice to have one that can handle all situations.
If you want to pick up a new microphone for yourself or check out the prices (as the Fifine IS on a great sale at the time of this recording) check the links below:
Fifine K688 - amzn.to/3DQy2Dv
Fifine Boom Arm - amzn.to/3DUqIqB
Rode Videomic Go II - amzn.to/4gRr5Ri
Shure SM7B (Most popular podcast mic) - amzn.to/3PBbcCu
Note: these ARE affiliate links so if you decide to purchase one I would appreciate if you use the links above. It won't cost you anything and I might get a few bucks. I appreciate if you're able to support the channel that way.
Thanks for watching!

      @thesahdstudio white text on black works for me. Just posted my first video a couple of days ago. Got 558 views and very happy with it. I did have some problems with memorizing the script, but mostly producing it on Camera. So just got the teleprompter and it is night and day. Just tested. Will get a new video up and running soon. Right? The interesting thing which I try and showcase on my channel is that, sure things look different side-by-side... but on their own most people wouldn't even think twice about what the other option would be like. When you are shopping you want the best, but most of the time, like in this case, either softbox/light combo would probably be sufficient for most people creating a channel online. Maybe the artists would really benefit from the better stuff but people like me don't.

    Hi, Can I get your opinion quick? The 18-50mm lens, 16mm lens and 30mm lens. Talking head videos/ vlogging. Which 2 lens can I keep? I just realised I passed my budget and the 16mm is no longer returnable. What do you think?

    • @thesahdstudio
      @thesahdstudio 6 годин тому

      Heyo! Ok keep the 16mm for sure. Is the 30mm the Sigma? Personally I would probably rather have the two prime lenses for video as I just find they look much nicer. But with that being said it depends on what kind of video you shoot... having a bit of reach with the 50mm on the zoom is nice however MOST of the time you can just move back and forth to get the shot with a prime so... those would be the two I keep. Now with THAT being said, I had the 16mm and 30mm and ended up selling the 30mm also since EVERYTHING I do on my channel I'm able to do with the 16mm. Hope that helps!

      Thanks! Yeah it should. You'd just want to check and make sure the adapter rings that come with the teleprompter fit the thread size on your lens. WORST case scenario you can buy individual adapter rings for janky lens sizes but I'm sure that one is a common size.

    So - this was really useful for me. Personally, of the three I didn't guess number 1 was 30fpx thoough until I saw number 3, which had much more motion blur than the other two and so guessed that was 24fps at that point. So Although I also liked 30 best, I am not sure i'd have given it another thought if I had only ever seen 24fps. So for me, its only when I compare can I really notice a difference consciously.

    • @thesahdstudio
      @thesahdstudio 7 годин тому

      Exactly!! People don't really think twice about it unless they see it side by side. My take away from doing these videos was that each one has their own uses. I often use different frame rates depending on the story I'm trying to tell. I'm not going to lie though, I'm a sucker for 60 fps especially with any type of action.

    That's exactly why I only game on 1080p. For that small of a difference in a Desktop setup I just don't wanna spend that much money on a 4k PC monitor and high-end GPU for a higher quality I don't really see. Instead I just rock my RTX 3060 ti on 1080p in 60 - 120 fps and have more fun for less money.

    • @thesahdstudio
      @thesahdstudio 2 дні тому

      Yeah that's a good idea. I spent the money recently building a 4k gaming PC and while it's stunning, it still hits walls often which sucks. I don't think the 40's series are quite good enough but the 50's will be... but they will also be $$$

    • @CraftMotion
      @CraftMotion 2 дні тому

      @thesahdstudio Yeah, I've heard that, apprently gaming on 4k 60 fps is hard even for high end PCs. So then everyone looks towards the next generation of hardware, but will that generation be strong enough for games coming out in two years from now? If you really wanna drive on that 4k60 road, you have to constantly update your system. That's honestly just too much stress for me personally but for someone who's really into maximazing and tuning your PC power and has the right amount of money for that, I can imagine it's still lots of fun, even if you end up playing on smaller resolutions at the end of the day.

  • @CraftMotion
    @CraftMotion 2 дні тому

    You COULD have used different framerates in one video. If you wanna compare 24, 30 and 60 fps, just edit the video in a 60 fps timeline. If you then put in a 30 fps video clip, it will still be 30 fps because every frame is displayed for 2 frames instead of 1. However since the math is a little bit different with 24 that might be different, to solve that you just need to screen record a pre-made 24 fps video with 30 or 60 fps and then use that recording in the final cut. At least that's how I do it and it always works, different framerates within my 60 fps video.

    • @thesahdstudio
      @thesahdstudio 2 дні тому

      Yeah I hear you.... At least this way though the viewer can check out the stats for nerds on EACH video and know which frame rate it is whereas they couldn't do that with your method. But for some videos it is always nice seeing the different frame rates... 24 just has never looked right in the other timelines and having to screen record it while it's playing sounds like a pain lol.

    • @thesahdstudio
      @thesahdstudio 2 дні тому

      Heyo! So, there is no right answer... it depends on the story you are trying to tell. I like 4k 60 but not everyone does. Some people prefer 24... I would definitely keep the 4k resolution but as far as the frame rate goes, I think if you have any action in your shots, 30/60 fps are the way to go... but if it's just talking head stuff, maybe 24 could be worth trying out. I personally like 60 myself and shoot in that.

      Honestly, I'm not sure. You would need another phone to use as your teleprompter to read off of right? I think it does have phone attachments but you might want to double check the description to see what it says.

    Hi, I am looking at Teleprompters but I don't have the camera yet (which might be a good thing as you say in your videos) - currently, I just use my phone but I want to get a teleprompter and camera. I need the exact same (pretty much) shot/set up/length away from the camera as you. What kind of camera and lens do I need also along with the pronstoor teleprompter (as I'm pretty new to cameras)? Do I need a stand with it as I currently have a stand that I'm using but I don't know if it will fit (how to tell). I will use your link for some / all I just need to know that I get the right camera/lens to go with the prompter. Also, what software do I use on my phone to flash it into the teleprompter? Thanks so much. I liked and subscribed by the way. 😃

      Welcome to the channel! That's great you like my setup. My first question is, what's your budget or do you have one? I did a video on the setup I have vs. the little brother setup. Most people are honestly just fine with the little brother setup... you should watch that video here: ua-cam.com/video/-t-piA0EgnU/v-deo.htmlsi=7srmQ8wrfPTZx_0k With the stand do you mean a tripod? Usually they have a 3/8th thread size I think that screws into the bottom of cameras. That's pretty standard and should fit. For software I use the Parrot Padcast app as once you get to use it it's fast and works great. Plus it's free. There are some links on that videos description but let's chant a little more before you buy anything to make sure you get the right setup. Don't overspend if you don't have to and can spend more money on other useful things (like lighting).

      @thesahdstudio Hi, yes, I have a tripod, with a mounting phone holder/screw attachment that I can put on top. I think it cost me $70 at Best Buy. I dont have a camera yet but want something that will work with this tripod and your podcastor. I've been on UA-cam for 3 years and my biggest problem is remembering my lines. Sorry, I must have missed it if you said there was a great camera and lens that would work with this teleprompter? My budget is think I saw you ask, would be around $700ish for the camera and lens. I dont want the best of the best but I do want higher quality. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being cheap and 10 the best, I would like a 7 or 8 camera but something that would give me almost identical video shots as what you have in this video (as I have a small studio / office setup).

      @AaronMoneyMindset 6 днів тому

      @thesahdstudio I'm open to suggestions on the budget though. I dont want to go crazy as I cant afford that but I want a higher end camera (if say a 5 was just decent/average). I won't be doing a ton of outdoor or moving shots. Primarily indoors sitting at my desk speaking.

    I was gifted a MacBook Air twice now due to disability grants that help individuals with vision impairment. I honestly don't see Mac as an option to buy for me after my 2020 air dies or slows. I have a 8gb base model M1. I will always use iPhone and iPad though... but for laptop purposes I have no issues with windows. heck even android tablets. But I have used both andoid and apple all my life and the iPad was my first tablet and apple device and I can never let go of it. the base model iPad always goes on sale for around 250+ and its equal to an andoid tablet.

      That's interesting to hear! For me after owning multiple Apple MacBooks and a few Windows ones over the years, while the performance is similar for everyday tasks, the battery life and video editing performance wasn't even close between the two. I guess it really depends on user needs. The quality of the Air and the battery life is nice but for most people, is that really worth double? Probably not.

    Completely agree! I encountered the same issue using the Ultra 7 265K. When editing H.265 4:2:2 59.94 files, Resolve opts to use Intel Quick Sync for decoding. Unfortunately, the video cannot play back smoothly. It's unclear whether the issue lies with the BIOS, Resolve, or Intel. For now, I disabled the iGPU and used the NVIDIA 3060 (12GB) for processing directly. With a utilization rate of around 40%, it successfully and smoothly plays back the video. This is really frustrating, especially considering that many people point out that Intel CPUs are the best choice for a PC running Resolve. -Use ChatGPT for translation.

    1440 videos is the start to get treated better by UA-cam when you upload so I record in 1080-4k then render at 1440

      @thesahdstudio the threshold is 1440 I've dug deep into UA-cam stuff for the past few years. Anything's below 1440 will be compressed worse. Mr beast gets treated a bit differently than most creators. High bit 1080 is also treated differently but I haven't looked into that as much. Might be a fun research project ;) Each channel is like a student if you're an A student you're chances of consistently getting A continues. If you're not as good you aren't shared as much even when you make a banger. UA-cam says they don't gatekeep but they do or their ai does. It will hold you back or shoot you forward if you do or don't do or make the right type of content. The new tools literally tell you the type of stuff you should make and when you follow it does better. On the one hand it's nice to know what to do on the other we get put in a box.

    What codec are you shooting in to get that kind of chop? I've been feeling this stuggle as well, but haven't been too worried since I picked up an m3 max to hold me over until I can get the parts together for a new editing PC - Still my editing PC is still going strong for most of needs with a 3950x and 3080ti - what I want is more vram, one area with the m series SOC really makes a difference.

      @thesahdstudio 9 днів тому

      Honestly I've tried all the codecs. Intraframe codecs are the only format that are easy to work on with the Windows stuff but the files are too big. I would take the M3 Max any day over my Intel 14th gen I7 with a 4080 if you can believe that.... for general video editing anyway. The video cards do make adding effects better but that's a pretty small part of my workflow. I miss the Mac.. edit: I just never needed proxies with the Mac. I need proxies EVERY project with Windows.

    I have an a7s iii. I need a new photo camera and a b-cam for the a7s iii. I really was splitting the baby down the middle on my decision and was going to go with the zv-e1 and forego the picture camera centric camera. But your footage of both of the videos, side by said, with no picture profile (I hate s-log) let me see that they were close enough in color and sharpness that a few tweaks in premiere would solve that issue. I think I will get the a7 iv now and get the zv-e1 later in the year when the price drops some more. Thanks!

      @thesahdstudio 9 днів тому

      Heyo! Yeah I think that's a good choice. The increased megapixel will be nice for photo and still looks great for video. Hopefully you can scoop up a nice deal. I would wait for the zv-e1 mii. I mean, I'm not sure it will be a thing, but I sure hope so. I wonder if the A7S iv will come out this year also... not that it will be cheap. Have you considered the A7c ii at all?

    • @number1chiefROKKA
      @number1chiefROKKA 9 днів тому

      @thesahdstudio as an a7s iii user i would not get the a7s iv - if there was one. I have witnessed the lack of updates and secondhand treatment my a7s iii got vs the fx3. Sony won't get me again. Besides, all my friends are waiting for the fx3 ii so they can get the fx3. And I have nkt considered that other camera. Honestly, I am going to start shooting interviews. So if I can go picture profile off on my a7s iii and a zv-e1 I'd do it just for the lack of having to color match. I ultimately want the fx3, but the zv-e1 as a b-cam seems like it will do the trick. Plus the vids will be primarily shot in 24fps so overheating should not be an issue. "In theory".
