Originally a channel to record the restoration of my Austin Allegro I soon found I had to diversify to continue my UA-cam journey, You’ll now find other modes of transportation that interest me on here & more of my general life experiences, so on the channel you may also see what I get up to day to day, or just see me chatting about life. I currently own and run 2 cars, AGATHA is a 1978 Austin Allegro 1300 Super & VERA who’s a 2012 Kia Venga. I do have use of another car too (a 2018 Kia Venga) which is occasionally featured and a van (Fiat) The van can be found on it’s own channel “Rick and Heather Campervanners”

After Agatha came off the road in April with a failed driveshaft it’s about time I got my arse in gear and did some work, also after not seeing Lee for 9? months it was a welcome reunion for us all, the driveshaft was replaced with a good used unit, the suspension reset, and the fan belt changed. The video is really just 2 mates chatting and working and it was an enjoyable afternoon. Thanks as ...

Whilst away in my camper for the weekend in Bridgnorth I found myself on the platform of the SVR pint in hand sitting in the sun just watching the trains run round, I’ve no idea on the class of locomotives featured unfortunately as steam isn’t my thing but I appreciate they are lovely looking things. If you know what they are comments are appreciated!

A railtour on a summer Saturday to the seaside, sounds good in practice but we took 8.5 hours to get there (we went the long way) and as the tour featured Mk2 coaches it wasn’t as much fun as usual (no opening windows so no locomotive noise) we were scheduled 2.5 hours in Skegness (I personally didn’t think much of the town but each to their own) we then ended up being stuck on the station over...

Hi Mate, my ambassador is very fumey when running and if I turn it off it doesn’t start again until it cools down. Any idea what this could be? It has an automatic choke so not sure if that is not turning off?
@@tomfloyd9160 I’ve asked Lee to reply bear with and keep an eye on this post
My.guess is the auto choke.. They were a pain in the back side when they were new.
Does he actually own this one outright or do seven other people have their fingers in it too? 😂
It's definitely worth saving. Looking forward to seeing how it all goes.
Good car for a project, I had one with pretty much all the same faults plus a couple more plus mine was involved in a “prang”. The EML was on on mine as well for the same fault, it must be an age thing. I don’t really know if they are worth it, I’m “on the fence” really, it all depends if you bought the car to sell on or to keep, if it’s the latter then it’ll be a nice car to drive around in and you get the satisfaction from it, but if it’s the former, we’ll they’r still not worth a lot of money and even a really nice one with nothing at all wrong with it probably wouldn’t fetch more than £2000 private and maybe £3k at a car sales garage, I could be wrong but I’ve not seen any being sold for those prices. Looking forwards to seeing your progress on it. Thanks for the vid Pete and Rick.👍
Great find & definitely worth saving, your expertise & care will get the 45 back on the road
Nice project over the winter months.
bring it on
Good to hear from you again Rick. I wonder if that Rover that Pete’s mate wants to share on the channel was owned by another You tuber who has his own channel? He’s called Andrew and he’s a Mk1 Ford Focus fanatic! His channel name is called “Usually fixing and tinkering” I think, he has or had a Rover 45 1.8 automatic. I’ve lost the initial enthusiasm I had for all things classic cars and cars in general but I haven’t completely lost interest, I think your subs will understand about not having the content always especially as you have another YT channel that’s closer to your heart. I still sub to a channel that hasn’t posted anything in over 12 months but subscribing doesn’t cost anything so I stick with it hoping new content comes along.
No, it’s not Andrew’s it’s a 1.6
@ Ahh ok. 👍
hello nice to see ya nice
Thanks for the update boss..! Yep, it's that time of year mate, dark nights, dark mornings, and too damn knackered to do anything at the weekend.... Although the Jaaaag is due its mot and I need to get the sills welded up soon.... So I might have to bite the bullet, get wrapped up and get underneath and see how bad it is.... So I'll document it for the "Guys" on the channel 😂
Just send it round Hednesford, get another with a mot. 🤣
Thats always an option 😁
@leelee1973la guys, girls etc covers everything 😁👍🇮🇪
It is what it is, I've a project car sitting under my lean-to for years now and can't be arsed to fix it, which is unlike me. Some cars you just don't gell with for some reason. Part of the problem is doing it on my own means i get distracted and end up doing something else 🙄 i do have 2 other cars working well, one is a kia pro ceed diesel (great car).
My problem is I just want to be in the van all the time, consequently when I have a weekend at home I end up gardening or something grown up, cars seem to take a back seat.
All them diesels should be scrapped and the money raised used to repair steam locos
@@geoffreyking4515 what a daft comment. For a start most locomotives are owned by individuals or groups and not the railway itself, if for example I own a diesel why would I scrap it to fix a steam? Both types are relevant to a heritage railway and also the diesel galas are well attended and bring in vital revenue. Not everyone has a connection to steam. The last official steam train on British Rail was August 1968.
@AgathaAndAnything not a daft comment parafin burners are about as exciting as watching Nottingham city transport buses
Ok. Well thanks for having a singular opinion, you don’t like so nobody can? No point arguing with you.
@@AgathaAndAnythinga diesel isn't a living thing ,a steam loco is ,and needs to be driven not just press buttons
@@geoffreyking4515 oh yes, it fetches its own coal/water and lights itself? Mate, I’m not anti steam, check my train videos, but I fear you’re not bringing much to the discussion. What’s your favourite cheese?
I had terrible problems with those steel head gaskets from Rover back in the day. In the end I went to the local motor factors and bought a non steel one for a fiver and never had any trouble again.
Those two Landcrabs are also interesting. I used to own both Maestro and Landcrab, simultaneously. Unfortunately, my '68 Austin Landcrab, bought as a barn find in Sweden, wasn't the lovely Wolseley variant
Trains and anoraks 😂
Sums me up!
Really enjoy your videos Lee
It's a car that I reveir.
I've a 95 820 turbo.. massive difference in performance on e5. It won't idle properly and miss fire under slight acceleration on e10 yet on e5 silky smooth. Mpg wise not much difference I get 400 miles to a tank.. around 35mpg. And that's driving like a pillock everywhere
Lee maybe wire wheel any rust areas .any areas that are dented like the front valance try and pull ot any dents if not fill it with weld and tidy it up after
Do love the ambassador. Its of my childhood. This one's a lovely vanden Plas example too.
Great job Lee, looks much better now. Thanks for the update Gents.👍
Cheers Bill 👍
That won't rust for a while. BL would have bodged it back in the day
Ha ha... They would have probably used Tipex 🤣🤣
@@leelee1973la John Shuttleworth would be proud.
Very rare Ambassador it looks well in white. Amazing how many of the survivors are v/p's. Well done on keeping this rare motor on the road.👍
Great job as always...the black ambassador looks great. Hopefully you can save it.👍
Thank you... Yes the black one will be saved. No matter what... 😊
@@leelee1973la Awesome 👍
Looking good, nice video.
Thank you 😊
Nice nose job. Glad to hear the ol' girl is still doing well.
Thanks mate 😁👍
Great job Lee! Whether or not you like BL/BMC vehicles, they bring back memories. I think it is a wonderful classic. You saved it, it works, what more can you ask for?
Thank you... It really is a great car... okay I'm slightly biased... 😊
Lovely ambassador. Is it a Y reg?
It just happens to be that year….
@@AgathaAndAnything Brilliant! I wont keep asking.
First use a cleaner to remove the Grease and dirt and probably use first undercoat
good job i cut exhaust like you welded it but weld broke so just put it back on and all ok it is awful job just done this at the weekend no leaks too so happy days 👍
Great job Lee. Big improvement.
2 tone FTW
Thank you 😊
@@leelee1973la i think the door tops will look betterer in black- maybe try vynilcote?
That looks pretty good Lee, I like the 2 tone effect tbh, it’s worked well in breaking up the Beige fest interior, if it were my car I’d probably leave it like that 2 tone, not 100% sure about doing the door tops as well, but maybe…it would follow on from the top of the dash.
Cheer Will 👍😁😊
Looks good. I'd go all black and do the doorcards. Maybe add some walnut veneer trim to lift the interior. 90s Rovers are a good source for wood pieces. I used them on my series 3 XJ6 door cards, and they really transformed it.
@paulie-Gualtieri. Thank you. Indeed Walnut veneer is something I've thought about... 😁👍
As whats on top of the dial binnacle colour coming off . I wonder if you rub the beige .with some sort of spirit .that beige may come off . And you may not need to even paint the dash .
Over shiny or not anything may be better than whats on there at moment.ģood luck with it
Thank you... it was beginning to look tired anyway 👍😁
You love ambassadors and princess's i see
I do indeed...😉
@@leelee1973lait's nice to have an intrest in something diffrent .

Looks great! Would you chaps fancy doing a UA-cam collab with the Allegros and Ambassador?
Thank you 😁👍.. I think we already have done a couple of years ago... Ricky will confirm... if not, then we must. 😉
@@leelee1973la as in my Allegro featuring on the channel. Would be great to meet you both and see the collection! I know Ricky’s based in Derbyshire. I’m in Nottingham. Where abouts are you?

@@AgathaAndAnything haha I’d been at a car show at Thorseby Park
vast improvement on BL Lee
Thank you 👍
looks lot better and transformed the dash really good great appearance better than BL could of done mate well done you !!!
Cheers mate, Thank you 👍😁
Hello ad an idea try doing the tops of the door cards black they would go level with dash be quite in keeping with the black dash and match up nicely
The paint is already on order... 😁👍
That looks awesome....the rest will look good in black!
Thanks mate 👍😊
That doesn't look too bad lee! breaks up the amount of beige!
Thank you 😊👍
Great job, Lee. Back in their day, I remember the Allegros going black which made a great improvement to them. I would probably leave the rest of the dash and just do the tops of the doors, but for a VP they are really crying out to be dressed up a little. They are so far from the days of beautiful leather and wood. Tightening up those seat covers would make a huge difference to your car. I keep on hearing that good results can be obtained with steaming them.
Thank you.. I'll certainly give the steam a try.
@@leelee1973la So many BL cars have this problem and it could make a good video to see if it works, Lee.
It certainly would...! 👍
I prefer the Princess dashboard myself, the original looks more like butterscotch
Yes, I agree, the Princess dash is much better.
i do like that 2 tone look, and it is very nicely done, a smooth finish
Thank you 👍
There's way too much Beige in your Ambassador Y reg Y reg Y reg. You can get plastic putty for dashes.
I agree... way too much beige 😂
@@leelee1973la Its turned out well
@@jaggass Thank you 😊
Leave dash two Tone and do tops of doors black thats how a lot of cars were finished back then will look natural The interior needs to be addressed and that's easy by I believe either steaming it or washing and it will shrink back look up on the net otherwise a good job
Thank you... Thanks for the advice on the steamer too... I'll give that a try 👍
Painting the top making it two tone has added a bit of class Lee keep it two tone and do the tops of the door cards, grand job mate well done 👍
Thank you 👍😊
You paint what you want Lee. I brush painted a fiat uno dash over 30 years ago, not much choice in paint then, came out orange and made me feel ill for a while. You live and learn they say 😅👍🇮🇪 I'd paint more of your interior as dog shit beige is shocking 😮
Thank you... 😊 It's horrid isn't it.. 😂
