I met Owsley Stanley when I was just 9 years old. My mom took me to his laboratory in Oakland. He was making speed to finance his LSD manufacturing venture. It's kind of unbelievable but we did laughing gas that day at his place. I am not kidding

@@g_and_kikos_studio Yeah my childhood was unconventional! I don't think there were many 9 year old kids in '64 who were regular pot smokers like I was but I'm okay. We left San Francisco towards the end of 1964, moving to southern CA. In October, our house was raided and my mom lost custody of me and my younger sister. We ended up in foster care. My mothers friends were Lenny and Honey Bruce, Ella Fitzgerald, Ken Kesey, Scatman Caruthers and Nat King Cole. Up until we left, my mom was a regular customer, visiting Owsley often to get speed. She only took me there once. She let me try a little once and I stayed up all night, coloring my bedroom walls with crayons and chewing the inside of my cheek! I finally crashed and when I woke up she asked me what I thought about it. I said, " It's okay but you need to have a hobby". She told that story over and over to her friends thinking it was so hilarious.

I have a Chinese copy of Tiger, and it's a really nice guitar that makes you feel like you are playing like Jerry Garcia, which I tend to do quite a bit anyway, having deeply absorbed his playing in a highly receptive state of mind at many Dead and Garcia Band performances. However, I don't play it often, since I tend to rest my picking hand on the center humbucker, making intermittent microphonic tapping noises which are distracting. That center pickup does allow an unparalleled tonal spectrum, though.

    • @g_and_kikos_studio

Thanks for the info. If I ever have a tech get in there I'll have him look. The only thing I'm good for with amps is playing them and changing tubes

Couldn't this amp also take KT88s? I might be thinking of another boogie, but i remember this guy who would play at the same venue as us having a Mesa with Kt88s and it was one of the most incredible tones i had ever heard. Could have sworn it was a TremoVerb.

it does have a switch on back to go from 6L6 to ELs I never heard of someone putting KT88 in but wouldn't surprise me. Maybe with a mod???

Ive got a t verb head. I think the 2×12 head combo sounds better.my head is a 95/96

The combo is great. I love the weight a 4x12 gives me in my studio. I track even more though through my 67 Twin Reverb , combos are cool..

I know I said Beggars. But I really meant the Mick Taylor period of the band which began with Hyde Park in 69. Beggars is great though

Hey are you plugged right into your amp? Your telecaster sounds good. I can’t seem to get that Keith sound. Yours sounds good. What are you playing through?

It's into my 67 Drip Edge Twin Reverb. I show a pic of Keith with a similar amp at the end of the video, but he mainly used ampegs. I used a Sunface on the intro with the volume rolled back and a Tim pedal on the rest of the stuff. Thanks for watching
