    I think the best one is 65 gal ( fluval shaker) not too big, not too large. You can do anything with this size

    just listened to your pod cast.....i'm sub to both your channels, ive just returned to fish keeping after a 30++ year break, ... a couple of comments, ...I really enjoyed the convo & banter boys !...however you guys never mentioned a 30 long 36x12x16 its great size compared to a 29gal or the 20tall or 20 long, atleast IMHO ( I have 2 twenty L tanks & 1 30L tank ).... 2nd comment, I have a a 60 breeder 48x18x16... & do i love it ?.. oh YES I do !!!! ... the 60 breeder is a great stacking tank too & its way ... way cheaper than a 75 or 90 but still has the same 4 foot print .... & if your going to a 6 foot tank, I dont think the 125gal is the way to go... rather 135gal, it has the same foot print as 125 but it's tiny-winy bit "taller" just 2" taller than the 125 but the way it shows is so much more bolder ( my wife might right when she says 2" makes all the difference ) and as far as the 150g is concerned, its way way too tall @ 29" for maintainence just go to the 180 rather than 150 IMHO... thanks for sharing guys cheers from toronto

    20L and 60B are my go-to tanks for -most- projects. 10s are great for mobility and rearing. I think my favorite for general display is my 180. Great look, and far easier to maintain than the 30" tall 210.

    Our 55 gallon is on a short stand, so it's super easy to maintain (the top of the tank is at chest level). We have a 20 gallon hex with a snail problem, I absolutely hate maintaining that thing.

    I have owned : -5 gallon -10 gallon x2 -40 gallon (maybe a 37g. 2.5 feet long) -125 gallon tall (60”x18.5”x26”) -46 gallon bowfront -135 gallon -240 gallon 8 footer (current tank)

  • @ShamuAquatics
    @ShamuAquatics 20 годин тому

    My 240 gallon (8x2x2 feet) is not too tall but since it’s also 2 feet front to back, my long metal tongs were a life saver for inserting plants into the substrate in the very back of the tank and having to grab dead leaves from the bottom back corners. It’s also by far the easiest tank I’ve ever had to take care of. Water changes take longer but I don’t have to do them as often as my previous tanks, even with almost 80 fish in it, and this tank simply refuses to get dirty even if I go a month without water changes. The only challenges were getting it in the house (400 pounds when empty) and trying to scape it. I would buy some plants and pieces of wood or rocks, put them in the tank, then have to go back to the fish store and get more hardscape material and plants because there were still empty spots. Not to mention the price of everything. I carried over lots of stuff from my previous 135 gallon but it still hurt my wallet a little bit. WORTH EVERY PENNY

  • @ShamuAquatics
    @ShamuAquatics 20 годин тому

    I have almost no experience with the 4 foot tanks since I jumped straight from a 2.5 foot 40 gallon (might have been a 37g) right into the 5 foot and 6 foot 100+ gallon tanks lol. But I’d definitely choose a 75 over a 55 because a friend of mine has a 55 and that thing is WOBBLY ! When another friend was checking out 55s, I talked him into getting a 75 instead because we are in earthquake territory (California). He recently got a 135 gallon which was what I used to have, same thing as a 125 but like an inch taller I think and it’s just perfect for keeping pretty much whatever fish you want and reachability not being much of an issue. I’ve since moved on from the 6 footers and into bigger/better things so these 6 foot tanks are small to me now lol

    I have my 8x2x2 foot 240 gallon tank in a mobile home. Crazy, I know, but I made sure to put that thing directly above the big thick metal beam that’s directly under the floor with metal supports holding it up every couple feet. It’s holding great.

    15G - 20G is the perfect size for most beginner in my opinion. It is versatile enough for us beginners! You can start your community tank or shell dweller tank on it! Your family, as a beginner, will also tolerate that size of tank unlike those big tanks will get more space!

    Lol I kept a 55 on a standard 55 stand on carpet on an upper floor for 8-9 years. I never had any issues, but man did I have some anxiety at times. Definitely a bit of wobble and YES the height made it so stupidly annoying to get into for maintenance. That was my main reason for getting rid of it, since it got to the point where maintenance was something that really made me cranky and in turn, the whole tank became less enjoyable.

    After I retired, I got back into the hobby with a 29, which is what I had as a kid. I decided to get a second big boy tank and went for the 75. New favorite. The plan was for 5 angels with nice groups of smaller fish. The angelfish breeder sent me 11. I love them, but it definitely changed the rest of the community population. Do a segment on sellers giving an “opt out of free fish” option.

    I gotta hand it to you guys. I never would've thought that two guys talking about aquarium sizes could've kept my attention for an hour, but you guys sure did. I've got a 10g myself. Just got back into the hobby after about 15 years. My big deciding factor was space. I just really don't have the room for anything bigger. It is sitting on my bedroom dresser and don't really want to put anything heavier on that thing.
