David Tennant Doctor Who is peak. Didnt know about these specials. Please take the grinch off this list!!
You missed Gremlins 🎅🙇
Home Alone is the greatest ever, I won't hear otherwise
Polar express was the first fully motion-capture movie ever that's why its so uncanny, now we've learned that Motion capture doesn't really work that well for full cartoons :)
You can't just show those glorious clips of your gaming channel and not link the gaming channel like whadaheck
The best Christmas movie is Eyes Wide Shut
BROOOOO how did I not realise to include that I’m genuinely annoyed at myself not putting two and two together if Die Hard gets a free pass into all these lists! Hahaha I’m with you on that one move over James Stewart hello Tom Cruise!
What's your favourite Christmas movie?
done my letteboxd is omjeswani_29
Hes just a chill guy
Just a chillllll guy
australia cares too much about being recognised by the 'international community' to stand on its own and actually produce good comedy
In this circumstance I definetly agree mate! Tried to make it marketable to the US when it should be a show made for Australians!
It was mid for me
Edwin you absolute legend! I'd love to hear why you think so!
The return was good for me 😊
Haha both you and my Dad absolutely loved it!! I just couldn't deal with the pacing but maybe I was too grumpy watching it!
Lol 😅
Great to see you here Edwin ya legend mate much appreciate your support on this channel!
I think it’s going to be awesome. Idk if it can top S1 bc that was like tv perfection to me and I have such high expectations but I think it’s gonna be great. I can’t wait.
Taylor thanks for your comments I much appreciate it!! I fully agree with you! I think Season 1 was a great perfect arc in itself with all the little twists and everything like that, I hope whatever they do, they don't undermine elements from Season 1! I have faith in the showrunners though they were so good with Season 1, fingers crossed!
I think there will be all new games but the first round will be red light, green light like S1. It was so iconic, I completely understand bringing that game back for S2.
Great call, I agree!! And seeing new ones will be awesome too, I don't mind a little callback at the start if we get new games too!
Sell out! prophecies is trash does not live up to the hype and I'm done.
Do you think the show is a sell out or I'm a sell out? Haha I definetly felt like you did after Episode 3, but I genuinely enjoyed Episode 4. Gonna watch Episode 5 later tonight!
@HessFlix , Well Venom The Last Dance, dropped today.. 2 days before Kraven, The Hunter.
Sunny you legend, what did you think of Kraven? I couldn't bring myself to watch it, I never jumped on board with Morbius or Ms Marvel so I'm not sure why I should start 😂
@@hessflix good call.. I went and saw it (5 out of 10) better then Madame Web, but not by much. Sony doesn't have the rights to use the word "mutant" so the "X-Men" couldn't have their names mentioned in the movie. Act 2, is Crocodile Dundee 2. and then, at the end of the movie, no Easter Eggs, as Sony is done with the Spider-Man spin offs. With the movie only making $11mil opening weekend, it will be on streaming by the end of this month.
Slightly off topic here, sorry. If you like political thrillers, 'The Day of the Jackal' on Peacock streaming is very good. I'm an old guy, and I like both previous versions of the movie, but since this is a series, there is much more depth. And Eddie Redmayne is smashing it as the hit man.
Thomas mate I always appreciate all your comments thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!!! I just added it to my TV show watchlist spreadhseet that I have, I'd be keen to check it out and I like Eddie Redmayne. Do you think it's a good idea to watch the 1973 movie first?
@@hessflix - I like the 1973 film, and I think you'd enjoy it, but the series is complete in itself. The series is quite different from that movie, as 2024 is different to 1973. I think you'll probably enjoy the series more. But there is quite a bit of time dedicated to the family dynamics of the hit man, and the MI-6 agent chasing him. But those scenes give the actors the chance to flex different sides of their characters. The 1973 film is totally focused on the preparations by the hit man for his contract.
I'm not getting the same feeling you are about the source of Desmond Hart's power, so I'm interested to see whether you're right about that. Also, why didn't Keiran Atreides burn up during that council meeting? The one guy in the meeting who wasn't tied up with the others - he burned, so why didn't Atreides? Interested to see if they address that.
I'm so keen to watch the episode tonight and see if we get any answers! I like how they're building the mystery around him, hopefully either way it's a satisfying reveal! Good question about Keiran, maybe he was somehow shielded by being found out as being involved in the rebellion/connected to thinking machines through his military role?
I agree with much of what you said here, but I did like the part about Tula and the Atreides. Yes, it felt rushed, and it's frustrating that they didn't show the Atreides hunters dying from the poison, but I was touched by how ruthless Tula actually is, as shown there. I thought that she was more in her sister's shadow, but she is cruel in her own right. I don't mind the flashbacks per se, because this series is a prequel. It's all about telling the story of events and people from before the time of Paul Atreides. What bothers me most is the lack of detail. One thing you may not know is that the Atreides were hunting those special bulls, and in Paul Atreides's story line, Paul's own paternal grandfather was killed while fighting one of those bulls. I totally agree that Valya's agony was a wasted opportunity. It seems like that should have been one of the high points of the series. I do agree completely that these first 3 episodes feel that they're just trying to pack in references to too many events, without actually letting us feel that we're seeing the details. And I agree its a big failure here. They are not really doing the source material justice. But I'm such a fan of Dune, that I will watch the rest of this season. I'm not sure that the series will get a second season, and even if it does, I probably won't bother to watch it.
Loved your reaction. I didn't have an active Max subscription so I wasn't sure that I was going to watch the series. But HBO had a good deal for Black Friday so I did subscribe. I'm not disappointed. On your comments in this video: Yeah, I didn't like the cocaine-looking thing. I don't remember any such references in any of the books, and like you said, more important, it didn't feel authentic to the time. But I don't think it's supposed to be Spice. I disagree with you slightly on the seen where the young acolyte took the poison - I really enjoyed it and thought it was well done. Just a fine point on the poison. The poison shown here in the series is not exactly the same poison that Jessica and Paul took from the movies. From my understanding of the original source books - across all of history, and on different planets, different poisons are used. On Arrakis, in the time of Paul Atreides they used a poison collected from a drowned sand worm. In this series, apparently Tula manufactured it with herbal and other ingredients. Different poison, but both used to do the same thing. I like that you're doing reviews after each episode, I've never really watched reviews/reactions on individual series episodes before.
Did you guys enjoy Episode 4 like I did?
Great video 😊
Thanks Edwin mate I really appreciate it! Glad you liked it!!
The DVD store was crazy

Mateeeee 3.5 for Gladiator II you're a generous man! But glad (pun) you enjoyed it ;) Thanks for watching too always mate!
What movies did you guys watch in November?
Tbh saying that the flashback are filler. just shows you have no idea about storytelling. How else would we understand the main characters motifs, traumas. How else would we understand when was the breaking point for Valya and Tula to choose the sisterhood over their family. You do know that's one of the main characteristics of Valya, her struggle between her loyalty to house harkonnen or the sisterhood. And tbh is one of the things that makes her interesting as a character. Besides the fact that they explore the evil side of the main characters. Clearly this is not a white washing evil characters or girl power show like rings of power. They are showing the greed of Valya which goes hand in hand with what the harkonnen's become 10,000 years later. I mean Tula just did a cold blooded massacre. And also shows the origin of the sisterhood, and what road a leader like Valya will choose for the sisterhood. you do know they are not like "good guys" right?
Wow, I’m shocked by your review of episode 3. This was my favorite episode so far. We learn how she got her ‘power’, about her royal house. We learned of her transformation from Harkonnen family defender to ‘Sisters above all’, her powerful bond with her sister… all great information to understand who these women are… is this info in some books? I have not read them… I think it is great to get the information to better understand their next actions in the Present… it was a great episode. Surprised you think their backstory is just filler. I understand their motivations a lot better now.
Shocked as well. I completely agree with you, we needed that moment where Valya chooses the sisterhood above all. Was the episode that actually hooked me to the main characters, and understand them emotionally a lot better. Sure there was little action, but this is not a show about action imo. Its about politics, and exploring the themes within frank herbert's mythos and lore. Show is not perfect, but definitely they are doing some good things with it.
the one revieuw one rotten tomatoes on this episode .... “Sisterhood Above All” tells the strongest story of Dune: Prophecy so far..... why spread misinformation? just a sad grifter?
grifter
this reminds me of the foundation tv series. the characters were so shallow and boring whilst a good plot line would've easily been able to support buiding up the depth of these character's
I'd never heard of the Foundation before, just did some quick reading about it! I love how you phrased that, that in order to support and build investment in the character depth, there needs to be an engaging plot line underlying everything and tying it together! That's exactly how I feel! I'm really hoping they will turn things around in the last three episodes!
I loved foundation. lol super different from the books, but still a great tv adaptation IMO. Theres plenty chapters in the books which is just two guys talking, that wouldnt have translated well into a tv show imo.
I wholeheartdely disagree that only those Dune fans deep into the lore can appreciate the complexities and references of the books, this show must live or die by it´s own merits and failures and to me, who didn´t read any of the novels, I found captivating enough to stride along with episode 3, sure, on the surface seems like an out of nowhere kind of episode but it offers important highsight to where Valya and Tula are coming from and how much about family it´s all about, to state it doesn´t feel like Dune speaks volumes of how the casual viewer perceives this Universe, because the movies focused so heavily on Arrakis that a forest planet seem odd. In any case, this show sits on a simple premise, to see the early days of the Bene Gesserit and how their goal to control the power of the Houses through influence had it´s issues from within, if you as a viewer are not entertained by their dynamics and plot scheming then this particular series is not for you, there´s no space lasers going pew pew pew or galatic battleships, this is like early Game of Thrones was a show about characters ad their ace in the hole is the mistery surrounding Desmond Hart amd hw they will wrap it up but this show is not about him, it´s about the Sisterhood, I think most were drawn in due to the movies sucess ut obviously the cinematic scope is less of a spectacle here but still it´s HBO and it has excellent visuals but I feel if there is a second season on the horizon it need to broaden even more and show more of the Imperium politics and worldbuilding. I think it´s a solid 7 out of 10.
I really appreciate hearing a detailed opinion on why someone likes the show rather than some of the hate comments here, thanks for stopping by and leaving this comment mate! I think I didn't get that value out of the flashbacks with with Valya and Tula because it didn't feel signposted enough for me what I should be taking out of it, and maybe that wouldn't be a problem if the flashbacks weren't more entertaining, but for me I feel like it's a fair criticism to say that they felt low budget/not giving the audience what they want to see by only showing Griffen's death through exposition/a short funeral scene and also Valya's agony which should be a huge moment in her character journey is barely shown). You make a great point about the casual viewer, I'd like to think I'm a bit more invested than a casual viewer but your point still stands that the movies are so desert focussed that a forest planet feels jarring. Although the Corino planet/Sisterhood planet don't feel out of place to me. I was mildly entertained by the Bene Gesserit origin stories and I will admit, I'm more invested in the Desmond stuff and I think its fair to say that it shouldn't be the main focus of the story, but I think it's more interesting so far. I don't mind that there isn't crazy action but I feel like the narrative could be propelled in a more engaging way, I haven't found the politics to be as interesting or engaging as I think they could have been. I thought the visuals looked BRILLIANT right up to this episode, the forest huts felt a bit low budget on the Atreides home world (it didn't feel the same as the first Dune movie even though I understand that's a different location on the planet and much later in the future). I was at 7/10 before this episode but now I'm closer to 5.5/10, hoping that things change with the last three episodes!!
Even a dingo wouldnt dig this episdoe out of the rubbish bin
Hahahahah I love how Aussie this expression is, haven't heard it before and I want to start using it 😂 will shout out this comment in future videos if I watch something I really dislike!!
This episode was amazing
It's good that some people are enjoying it! What did you like about the episode, and out of interest, have you read the books?
It completely fell off on ep 3
I wish it didn't but I fully agre with you mate! This felt like a huge drop off in quality to me too!
😂 you 1:02 you just phrased what i think about the show, I don't care about any of the Characters, when i was watching episode 1 was asking myself why should i care about these people.
You don't have to. You can choose not to watch it. Why come online to complain about it? Just do something you do enjoy...
@guitarisforgrins but people have a right to criticise shows don't they? We have paid money for the show and the streaming service and we have a right to talk about it? If it's pure hate and not constructive then your opinion is fair enough, and I agree it's always better to spread positivity, but at the same time constructive criticism is healthy. Nothing wrong with what my boy AlphaDawg05 is saying here imo!!!
@Alphadawg Haha very fair enough mate! For me the whole aesthetic, high quality production and world building in the first episode kept me onboard even if we weren't given too much reason to care, but as the series has gone on I'm definetly starting to agree, it's hard to be invested or care! I want more Desmond and AI threat to the imperium! I can jump on board with that
@@hessflix I just find, anymore, that there's a race anytime something new comes out. The faster you can put out a "this is complete garbage" video, the more clicks you get. It's pretty clear, when looking at the trend over time, that this is indeed fueling many of this type of content.
@@hessflix I mean you gotta put things in context mate. This happens 10,000 years before the dune movies. If you expect to see a character that it is in the movies that you already care about, then dont watch it. wait for the next movie lol. how do you expect to care immediately about a character you just got introduced too in episode 1. That does not make it constructive criticism mate. lmao and yeah you pay money for the streaming service there are other shows in the platform. terrible argument.
interesting, this was the only episode I didn't hate
Haha it is crazy how polarising this episode and show seems to be! I’m interested in your perspective, have you read the books? And I’d love to hear what you didn’t like about the first two eps!
Oh so this moron hates character building and character development and adding more layers to characters are filler? Gosh, you are so stupid
Calm down 😂 As I said in the video, flashbacks like this can work well if the audience is given clearer reasons as to why we are seeing them and HOW they are integral to developing the characters which I didn't think was done well here. Also, the flashbacks themselves weren't entertaining, felt low budget (we didn't see any of Griffen's death, and Valya's agony which surely you would admit should be a huge moment in her character journey is barely shown)
so this clown thinks episode 1 was better than 2 and 3? You are a retarded clown
you should go and watch my Joker 2 review to see me in clown makeup
no it is not. It was an amazing episode/
That’s great that you enjoyed it even if I personally didn’t, but I’d love to hear tv some reasons why you liked it/or reasons why my take on it could be wrong
I agree... People have ADD anymore.
@guitarisforgrins, are you suggesting that people didn't enjoy the episode because they couldn't concentrate through it?
@@hessflix Judging by many of the negative reviews I've seen, yes, yes I am.
this is imo the best episode so far the atreides and harkonnen feud is what makes dune is so interesting.
I haven’t read the books yet so that might skew my view, but for me I love that whole feud from what I know about it, but it really didn’t feel like they explored that in a satisfying way here because we didn’t even see how or why Griffin Harkonnen got killed, and the whole forest place just didn’t feel like it fitted in with the dune universe for me personally, it all felt really small and low budget to me. Have you read the books and do you think that makes you look on this episode more favourably?
@ that’s what I like about the feud here, the fact that most of the information is really coming from their skewed perspective that Griffin was killed by Atreides which could be false. Yet they still killed the whole lot of Atreides that could be based on a lie that really paralleled their own “injustice” they felt from the Atreides supposedly lying about their forefathers. I can’t really say anything about forest other than Atreides home planet is forest and lush and they do this ritual for the bull. Even without the books the movies have done a great job in making the feud intriguing. Imo I think the shortened season and the fact that this is a flashback can rub the audience the wrong way as they may feel that is a "filler".
I agree that on paper that sounds like a really cool idea to explore the skewed perspectives and misunderstandings that led to the family feud - but for me the way they showed it could have been done way better (e.g can't we even get some kind of ambiguous scene with how Griffin was killed that still leaves it a mystery? I felt a bit cheated that it was entirely off screen and mentioned only in exposition and shots of the funeral when it's such a major factor in the whole Dune Universe politics? I'm not as familiar with the universe building so I might not be the best judge of the Atreides home world (and I didn't know anything about the bull ritual) but the sets felt a bit low budget to me, maybe its cos its set 10,000 years before, but even the limited screen time the Atreides home world got in Dune Part 1 still felt way more part of the universe to me, I didn't really buy the huts in the forest. Maybe this is coming from me not reading the books though. Definetly agree about the shortened season too! I think if I was given a clearer reason by the show as to why we saw the flashbacks I might have enjoyed them more, but seems like a lot of people loved it!
@@hessflix Homie if you didnt get the importance of blood feud between the families by just watching the movies. IDK what to tell you, maybe slow down on the weeed? hahah You dont need to read the books to get that, the movies do a good job of portraying that.
@@hessflix I thought not showing the murder of Griffin was actually good story telling. the cut was a bit too comical for my taste thou Ill give you that, they immediately cut to him dead lol. But that was a good choice, not showing the perspective from atreides side, which gets further explored with the boyfriend of Tula which is completely distanced from the blood feud itself. While for Tula is recent, she literally lost her brother due to the feud. Also its great they didnt show it because then it will spoil a reveal later down the line. Could be based on a certain famous atreides character from the source material. I do agree with you, that they could have down a better job at portraying the Caladan planet where the atreides rule. There was no water, and it is an oceanic planet. But in hindsight it could have been to not spoil the reveal that they are atreides. TBH this part was way better done in the show that source material itself, that part in the book is super bland.
The show sucks.
no it does not, you incel retard
I couldn’t help starting to wonder that during this third episode, but I really loved the first episode - you didn’t like it?
Still better than anything you have, or will accomplish. Especially if you have kids.
@guitarisforgrins why so personal or angry about it? I completely understand that Corion's feedback about the show isn't really constructive and seems like hate for the sake of it while they haven't given us any context as to why they don't like the show, but to get so personal with the attack haha how come? Maybe this is just what I should expect on the internet but hoping my comment sections can have some more sophisticated debate (different opinions are okay!)
@Laura watch your language, surely you can come up with something more sophisticated and engage in some positive discussion about the show if you like it! Tell us why it's good!!
it's not doing it for me but I'm still forcing myself to watch it because I'm obsessed with the dune universe 😅
I liked the first two episodes. I fell asleep watching the third episode. a bit of a snoozfest. have not finish it yet lol Update: I just finished the episode. I actually thought it was great, we needed to understand the background story of the main characters, it made me care for them more, and understand their dilemmas and their struggles, and the traumas that made them who they are today. The sacrifices of their choices, and the choices that will come to be.
And that's exactly how media companies are able to keep and on and on flogging these franchises.
@jaisalrw Hahaha I know that feeling too well with a few franchises 😂 Some are pushing me to the point of giving up though like Dr Who. And for me until this episode it felt like this was more Dune Universe and world building done really well so I definitely get it!!
@nafolktales I agree mate!! Pacing seemed off and not too much happened for me in this 3rd one
@knee-jerkreactor unfortunately you’re right! It’s a real shame cos if they actually made consistent high quality content in these universes, people love them so much and they’d be hugely successful again - but it just seems like more of them than not they’re not capable or making high quality stuff, wish they’d make some more new IPs!
Did you guys enjoy Episode 3?
I usually don't like backstory episodes, but I really liked this one.
@mademedoit0014 I'm interested to hear why this was a backstory episode that you liked when you normally don't like them!
@@hessflix to begin the acting from young tula and valya is great. I disagree with your take, we needed the flashback to have some sort of emotional connection to the main characters. now we understand where they coming from, Valya's struggle with the burden of having her desire and greed getting her beloved brother killed. Tula doing what must be done, to avenge her brother, while you get the atreides side in which he is completely detached from the blood family feud, while for tula it is recent, the blood feud literally just killed her brother. And you can tell she struggles killing the nice guy atreides, but puts her family before her moral conviction. and thats the theme, for valya between struggling between her family or the sisterhood. we needed to see the moment where she chooses the sisterhood over the family. and guess what that happens in the flashback.
I would recommend checking Quinn's Ideas youtube channel. They do a livestream after every episode. They actually do provide fair criticism, while still acknowledging what the show is doing a good job at. They have read all the source material, might give you a good insight to things you are not understanding from the Dune series as whole.
Can you make the music louder pls, i can almost hear you
Haha thanks for letting me know mate I actually did cook the audio levels here, my bad
They were snorting spice you idiot
Way too much fake enthusiasm and obvious cuts at the end of every single sentence. I almost clicked off in the first 10 seconds due to this sound like literally every other channel and having zero soul. But I stuck through. Glad I did. There's plenty of nonsense in this episode you noted- such as the generic rebels. There's zero reason for House Atredies to be in rebellion right now because after the Butlerian Jihad- the event that preceded this series- House Atredies IS a great House and IS economically strong under this Emperor. There's zero reason for a direct Atredies noble to be involved. Also- why does the Empress know the name of sandworms are Shai'hulud to the Fremen, when that name- and indeed, the Fremen religion- is a Bene Gesserit controlled psy-op. The word wouldn't even exist right now- and it'd only be known to Fremen and the Bene Gesserit, not the Empress. Also, you're totally on the money about the drug use- they never actually show that it's Spice, and it would have been the perfect opportunity to show Spice's importance to the culture beyond what is barely established in the films. Instead they're just doing generic drugs and drinking generic booze. The entire last 15 minutes feeling like filler is also true- there was very little exploration into the Bene Gesserit mindset. They could have used that entire scene to show off various ways of demonstrating how foreign/alien, impersonal, cunning, and powerful the Sisterhood can be. Instead we got an older woman crying over a younger woman and reminding her to 'breathe' while we got a generic spook-scene that wouldn't have felt out of place in Goosebumps, never mind Dune. No one's reciting that Fear is the Mind Killer? No one is talking her through on how to actually manipulate your body's chemistry to transmute poisons into harmless toxins? They never established a scene where a Bene Gesserit is poisoned yet does not die, so how are we, the audience, supposed to know about this? I thought Dune: Prophecy was a show that was going to delve into the inner workings of the Bene Gesserit's order and establish the culture that makes them the dominant political force for 10,000 years. So far it feels like a sci-fi Hogwarts.
Mate this is the real Robby Hess mate, he genuinely is enthusiastic about everything. Can't imagine watching a boring review mate, I'd click off.
