Fender x Hello Kitty Bundled Stratocaster Deep Dive + Sound Test
Like the title says, I got my grubby mitts on one of these guitars to give it a breakdown and see what it's about. It's a quick video, but enough for me to say that it's a pretty decent machine once you get it set up right.

    Too bad he didn't show us what the bridge and tailpiece looked like on the real Les Paul sitting next to him, rather than just telling us about them. The fret ends too on both guitars which he didn't do. Now I don't know what to look for.

    • @CompanyGripGuitar
      @CompanyGripGuitar 5 годин тому

      Hi David, The fret ends are shown side by side with the fake Les Paul and real Les Paul at 4:30, the real bridge is shown at 5:23, about 15 seconds after showing the fake bridge, and the real tailpiece is shown at 6:13, three seconds after the fake tailpiece is shown. There are also chapter titles for each of these three things. Thanks for checking it out.

    It would be really hard to argue with the tones you were getting out of the guitar. Pretty much everything you played sounded great and there are certainly a variety of tones available. The clean samples in particular were pretty amazing, like super clear and not too bright, and veryambient. Great review!

    There seem to be a raced to the bottom everywhere these days. It's like no need to responsibly source wood, when there are fakes using wood that comes from regions along the equator. Mahogany grows where trees do not lose leaves during the winter and thereby remove carbon all year long. And and no one knows who burns oil sands. And and and hurricanes if you notice is a naturally occurring weather event that cools the water over which it travels. Food for thought. More warmer waters mean more hurricanes to cool down the water.

    Great video, I didn't know about the countersink on the reverse side of the Tailpiece. Another thing to look at is the control knob position spacing as well as the spaces between bridge PU, the bridge, tailpiece and bridge, and finally the neck volume control and tailpiece. Every Chibson I've seen gets the spacing wrong. Also the finish, nitrocellulos on all Gibson's, vs poly nastiness. Got to ❤ that nitrocellulos scent ❤❤❤ What surprises me is the folks making Chibsons haven't setup a few dedicated shops to use more authentic looking truss rods, bridge mounts, and spacing of things. Seems like it would be easy enough and not cost a lot more.

    I was going to buy one cause I relish the thought of having a few sounds on the guitar and having a very ligh Les Paul. But the reviews from real world guitar players on Facebook have been less than stellar. In fact, it just seems like it’s a toy. There are all kinds of troubles with customer service and all kinds of troubles with the electronics crackling and the guitar having trouble charging on USB. I’m going to steer clear.

    Tim Shaw was an engineer in the Kalamazoo custom shop. In 1980 he conducted a scientific study of the various PAF models and lab analyzed the materials, to design a pickup that was an exact copy, reissue, or replica of the 1959 PAF pickup. This is what people commonly refer to as a "Shaw Pickup", these have an Unoriented Alnico 5 and are ink stamped as: 137/138, 372/373, 498/499. The "Shaw Era" for Gibson was between 1980 and 1986. Tim Shaw's Victory MV pickups do not have ink stamps. For example the Gibson Victory MVX center pickup is an extremely rare "stacked" humbucker, designed by Shaw, but clearly not what people now refer to as a "Shaw pickup". Tim Shaw is now chief engineer for Fender. In 2015 Fender released the American Professional instruments series using brand-new Shawbucker pickups. The Kalamazoo luthiers broke the mold and a century of tradition to build a radical new model that screamed. Because of automation and cheap imports, the survival Gibson was in question. This new guitar model required the most sensitive and focused pickups they could make. The “Magna 2, Magna Plus, and Magna Plus B” series of pickups each had their own unique tonal qualities. The super stack pickup was also a relatively new design. The MV's pickups have nickel-silver alloy baseplates, the formulation is unknown. Ni-Ag has a direct effect on the pickup’s inductance. It is reasonable to estimate that only about 150 Gibson "Magna II" pickups are still left in the world. The "Magna II" pickups were overwound, with full magnet loading in both coils. One outside bar magnet loaded coil and a 6 internal pole piece magnet loaded coil. The MV2 Velvet Brick neck pickup was designed by Bill Lawrence. The Velvet Brick pickups were later mass-produced. In1981 American Precision Metal Works Inc., a division of Kahler Systems International; unveiled the Kahler tremolo, Victory MV's were the first Gibson's to have them, but only a small percentage came new from Gibson with this option. These Victories can be identified by inspecting the routed area under the trem will have the same electrically conductive black paint used in the routed pickup area. Others Victories had aftermarket Kahler 2200's professionally installed by luthiers. Some of the Kahler trems were Gibson branded, some were not. Each individual saddle could be adjusted in six directions: up or down, for proper string height to follow the radius of the neck; a front-to-back saddle adjustment, to intonate the strings; and a side-to-side adjustment for spacing each string properly.The Kahler arm is sensitive to the touch and has a soft feel. They needed to be kept clean and lubed to work properly.

And, regarding Sweetwater, my favorite online retailer by far, I’ve found their information less than reliable many times when it comes to “stock”. I’ve ordered things they thought they would get more eventually, and turns out they never could and I’ve also ordered stuff they said was limited that other retailers have had no problems getting. So I’m not sure how that all works on their end. 🤷‍♂️

    The only thing I can't understand is if you don't have a daughter that plays guitar why would you waste money on a kitty guitar? Between 550 and 750$ to do a review on it. It's becoming a trend on hello kitty guitar's that unless you're doing it for the kids that's fine but I think in my eyes for the money 2 or 3 guitar reviews you could have bought say a newer released firefly or leo jaymz or something more interesting. Don't get me wrong I sit down my little girl or grandaughter and watch it. But I think after the 1st UA-camr did it I wouldn't attempt to review it. Trogleys guitar did it and I think it bombed out. Sorry that's why it's called the comment section. You're other videos are really good but this one No So Much.

    • @CompanyGripGuitar
      @CompanyGripGuitar 2 дні тому

      You are entitled to your own opinion of course, like you said - that’s what the comment section is for. I picked the guitar up because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. The reviews I do on the guitars are just as much for me as they are for the viewing audience. Regarding your comment on losing money, well, yeah, that happens with every guitar I review, hello kitty or not. I’ve never resold a guitar I reviewed for more than I’ve paid for it. Also, I did a review on a Leo Jaymz just last week, I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but I did it because I wanted to see what they are all about. Unfortunately, not many other people did because even now, 10 days or so later, it has a fraction of the views and interest I thought it would. 🤷‍♂️ So, there’s a delicate mix of doing what I’m interested in as well as what I think people will watch. You mention Troglys done a video on Hello Kitty, but some people can’t stand Trogly, just like some of his viewers can’t stand watching my videos. That’s the way it goes - we sometimes share audiences and sometimes split audiences. I appreciate your comment nonetheless, and appreciate you sticking around. Cheers!

      @CompanyGripGuitar no worries I restarted a ne Chanel because my old channel got hacked a few years back a 2 months ago started this one. Me I don't let comments bothered me I didn't understand that years ago bu it's probably 1 of the reason it was locked out from me, Google and UA-cam. Trying to find some kind of content is hard because a few years ago I started my channel around the same time as Scar my guitar and there wasn't even close to how many guitar channels now. I couldn't believe it. I wasn't criticizing you I just seen 4 more uploaded last night of the kitty guitar's. Leo Jaymz guitar's are great quality but everyone is doing videos on them like firefly guitar's and Fesley. So it's hard to find content to make. I just stick to kits and yard sale and pawn shop guitar's. Budget channel. Turning away sponsors also for years. Only 1 sponsor I had was musiclilly 8 years ago. I never criticize any other UA-camrs it's time consuming make videos, editing, finding and paying for supplies for building 1 guitar people don't understand that 1 hour video could take 3 hours of filming and editing. It's a job it's self. I just do real time videos it's easier. I love your content kitty guitar's I guess it's ok unless you are the 1st or 2nd person to beat others out the gate ot it. Om thinking of a reverse flip on the hello kitty video. Lol well see. Thanks for understanding how other see content. Thanks brother. And I just subscribed because of you being cool about comments and the 2nd real reason because you responded to me and others comments but 1st is your content. 😊👍

      @CompanyGripGuitar used guitar's have a history behind them. That's why I do them. Instead of sitting in a closet or going to the dump I rather like a vintage car put them back on the road or in someone's lap.

      Thanks for the support. I appreciate that! Yes - I agree, finding content is hard…and expensive. I’m lucky if I can make enough ad revenue to cover what I get when I sell the equipment for a loss, which basically just zeroes out the channel cost. 😆 I like what you’re trying to do though, with pawn shop guitars. There’s probably some real potential there if you can locate some diamonds in the rough. 🤘🏽 🎸 Cheers!

    11:15: Mine was not only setup correctly and intonated, the action was low. You'll find other people making videos like yours saying the same thing. Yours wasn't, but yours is the exception so far. Thankfully anyone who can play a guitar is more than capable of setting the action and intonation using the included tools, and Leo made that easy on the Stratocaster.

    As I am sure you know, the type of body wood makes absolutely no difference whatsoever in the quality of the guitar nor the tone: ua-cam.com/video/n02tImce3AE/v-deo.html Okoume, by the way, is what the Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Majesty 8 is made out of. It retails for $4200. The wood is essentially an African mahogany.

  • @Great-Documentaries
    @Great-Documentaries 2 дні тому

    The gloss on the neck is *not* a mark against it. Maybe for you personally, but not overall. That is what the quality necks on Squiers have, and THIS is a quality neck with great fretwork for $499 with a great padded gig bag. You can take a Scotchbrite to the back of the neck if you really want and have a satin finish. Since I don't sweat when I play, I'll stick to the much better gloss finish.

    • @CompanyGripGuitar

    Picked up the Fender Micro Plus recently, and didn't realize the original Micro was color coded. Well, for a color blind dude, I dodged a bullet by getting a Plus. Not a great idea, Fender. Question, how exactly did you get the sounds to the YT video? Is it that you play and record to the Fender app and do the necessaries for YT? And - what Audio Technica headphones are you using? I just picked up a set of Sennheiser HD599s and while they are super clear, just listening to the out of box output from the Fender Micro Plus (haven't used the app yet), and using a Telecaster, I am somewhat surprised at the buzz/humm , static and less than what I would call 'audiophile' sound. These headphones though sound crystal clear on other forms of audio.

    • @Great-Documentaries
      @Great-Documentaries 2 дні тому

      It's in line with the Paranomal, not Classic Vibe. The Paranormals are better anyway. And this neck/guitar are made in the same factory as the Paranormals. If you had a CV, a Paranormal, and this Hello Kitty neck in your hands, you'd know immediately that it is a Paranormal neck.

    I don't think I'd go for the Hello Kitty look but I wouldn't mind a shell pink Strat with matching headstock I thought it sounded good too. Although I do have to say that I love fuzz and I truly think that that pedal sounds good. I could do without all the accessories but if I could find one on reverb I would probably pick it up.

    • @CompanyGripGuitar
      @CompanyGripGuitar 3 дні тому

      I wish I could make sense of fuzz. It’s a black spot on my brain. 🧠 🤣 I saw some of those pedals for resale on reverb at $400 bucks… forget that! I’m pretty sure it’s the same Fuzz as the Fender Hammertone Fuzz just without the octaver - and that’s $79. Thanks for checking it out. Cheers!

    I am neither for nor against this guitar. I have no desire for one, but I thought it was cool that they did it as Squire and not Fender. Saved some money there. I like the pickguard but think they should have used the same pickup that is in the Tom Delong signatures. I like the oversized pole pieces of the invaders. I do give it cool points for just being a little unique.
