How to make Samoan Chop Suey

Let's give this a whirl. I've only made this once before, and it's been years. A staple in any Samoan household. Sorry I haven't provided clearer portions for ingredients, a lot of this you generally wing. If it's too ambiguous, here's a wee list. Ingredients. 800g - 1kg beef - chopped, then boiled for an hour and fried 4 T peanut oil 1 packet of vermicelli 5 cloves garlic - chopped 50g ginger ...
DIY Homemade Potato Salad

Decided to try my mums recipe for potato salad. It's pretty straight forward and easy, hope you like it :0)
Will not have theflavour of Rewana bit of a fraud,
not rewena, u should actually make rewena
Ahhh you bring back so much memories watching your recipes. I remember my nana would make this every Saturday morning and we’d have it with fresh crusty buttered bread but I remembered she used half a block of koko, washed her rice and added a couple of leaves from her lemon tree at the end to make it fragrant.
My friend made rewana bread for me one day and it was the best bread id ever have. Ive been looking around to see if i could imitate what ahe made. I came across this video looking for something that looked exactly like hers that i can try. This is probably the closest to hers that ive come across. And this is instant bread, no need for making a bug and wait for days or wait for proofing. This is a quick recipe and its awesome. ❤
Thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you 🙂
I preferred the rice washed then chucked in lol
Lashgo
Just by the photo I’m dreaming
❤😂👍👍
I’ve been trying too make this for years this one video has made it possible too enjoy at home thankyou so much
Parents told me to make this, but they never taught me. Wish me luck before they come back 😂
That's not rewena bread
I loved the way my kuia made her paraoa rewena, the old school way.
Jesus loves you and God has a plan for your life ❤️💕💓💖🧬🧬
Awesome thank-you!
Yummy Did you grease the tray you put it in?
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊 😀
What a great recipe, and very easy to follow! I followed it exactly and it came out incredible
Nah what a mess shame on you that's depressing
Whats depressing is you going out of your way to comment when it would have helped to just go and create your own video.
Cheers you could pour yellow and red food colour on the crust pop a candle in the crack use it as a prop for a volcano a science experience cheers..
Lol. So much effort directed towards a random interweb video. Congrats you winner.
The blood of Jesus protects me from all evil and the word of my testamony Revelation 12 : 10,11
Double lolz, you talking about Jesus after your first judgemental comment lol hypocrite.
Definitely making this now ❤
this makes me cringe lol please take more pride in the way you cook our Polynesian food before posting on social platforms lol there is zero technique, meat looks too dry, your heat is too high, a crucial ingredient- onion- is missing and ingredients were added at the wrong time at every point. Meat should be marinated at least 6-8 hours prior in onion, garlic, ginger and the soy sauce so that it soaks in the flavour and takes less time to cook and preventing dryness. If veges are added, this would be the point to add them to the meat and half cook before adding the vermicelli. Vermicelli should be soaked in cold water, this prevents overcooking it, and cut to preferred length with thickened parts removed and cleaned. Measure water to just above the level of the vermicelli in a bowl to avoid a watery mixture when added to the pot. Pour vermicelli and its water into pot and let it sit on med-low to simmer until it bubbles, stirring gently only to mix everything together then letting it sit. It's crucial to not over stir so as not to break the noodle
lol I can barely remember the year i posted this. Thanks for the errr.. feedback. i'm sure i'll forget most of it the next time i consider sapasui. Why not create a video of your own, displaying all the apparent "technique" and finesse you claim this meal needs instead of coming at a random nothing video on the interwebs critiquing it like it was meant to be on masterchef, lol
Man I wish I listened to my dad during his lessons lol. I was young and lazy and I didn't pay attention haha. So hear I am. Thank you R.I.P Dad <3
Can you put the ingredient on screen?
This looks like kaka
Fantastic video. Thank you. Now I don't have to buy it all the time 😀😀
🔥🔥 nice will def. Have a go at this 1
I made this today following your recipe. Been craving kopai lately and thank you to your recipe, mine turned out great!! Just like how my mom does it back home 😊
Is it the same ingredients and measurements if we do it without Koko Samoa?
Hi, was that 2 1/2 teaspoon or tablespoon of yeast?
Hi no worries I watched the video again and saw you used a teaspoon, thank you for the awesome video, love it 100%
Just made this for the family yum as thanks for the video

Could the onion go with the garlic and ginger?
This is not u prepare and cook chop suey lol
Great easy recipe, mine turned out yum! Rolling them individually def better than rolling whole. I read to always mix with metal or rubber spatula, who knew ...IYKYK

Yummm ! 😍
This looks good!
Love some Samoan coco rice....
☺️ What you made is potato bread. But it stills looks scrumptious and it is still kai on the table at the end of the day. Rewana is the name for the starter bug, similar to sourdough only difference with rewana is that you use potato water instead of just the normal water you would use for a sourdough starter. Some think that because it has potato in it, it's a rewana. There is so many versions of rewana out there but if it doesn't start with the rewana bug then it's not rewana. In saying this bread looks delicious and I love your video on how to make panipopo and can't wait to make it and try it myself.
Tessa Ngawhare thanks 😊- yeah it ain’t the real McCoy it’s a tater bread 🍞- I need to get the bug 🐛 together and attempt the real thing
Will try looks good thanks
