☺️ What you made is potato bread. But it stills looks scrumptious and it is still kai on the table at the end of the day. Rewana is the name for the starter bug, similar to sourdough only difference with rewana is that you use potato water instead of just the normal water you would use for a sourdough starter. Some think that because it has potato in it, it's a rewana. There is so many versions of rewana out there but if it doesn't start with the rewana bug then it's not rewana. In saying this bread looks delicious and I love your video on how to make panipopo and can't wait to make it and try it myself.
My friend made rewana bread for me one day and it was the best bread id ever have. Ive been looking around to see if i could imitate what ahe made. I came across this video looking for something that looked exactly like hers that i can try. This is probably the closest to hers that ive come across. And this is instant bread, no need for making a bug and wait for days or wait for proofing. This is a quick recipe and its awesome. ❤
That is humungous! I will have to try your way looks quick and easy by adding potatoes in mine and boom straight in the oven instead of letting it sit for an hour so it will rise.
What? No leaving the yeast to work and the dough to prove? Important steps being missed out here, and the loaf looks like a heavy brick. Also, I don't recall seeing any salt, which is essential in bread making, as it stimulates the yeasts to work.
And stevia, instead of sugar! The point of the sugar is to feed the yeast so that it converts into carbon dioxide and leavens your bread, not to make the bread sweet!
Beejay Dixon this is just one method - and how it was introduced to me. There’s loads of ways to skin a cat so maybe try the bug method if it makes it more authentic
Coolbix - Tbh - not that I’m any Rewena expert - what I liked about it was the density - it’s got the heaviness/sweetness of a genuine rewena - the only thing I didn’t like was that the outside goes hard real fast when you leave it to sit overnight - but you get that with most home made breads when you don’t cover it with a damp towel to keep the moisture in
U don’t need yeast lmao🤣🤣🤣 bread is ruined, u didn’t make the bug, u surpose to feed bug 5-6 days before baking rewana bread... this is just a bread with potatoes in it. Sorry but this isn’t rewana bread,
Thanks for feeding back. It was a recipe I found online - as I’m not Māori, I’ve never had the privilege of being taught by any OGs, will try to update this soon and follow the proper/bug 🐛 method

I loved the way my kuia made her paraoa rewena, the old school way.
Rewena is supposed to be yeast free.
Just by the photo I’m dreaming

Nope she didn’t make bug or let it grow for 5-6 days, just straight in there, that’s wrong
Sorry but that's not traditional and therefore not rewena. It should be like a sourdough method.
My immediate reaction: did I click mashed potatoes... no dahhfukkk

Nah what a mess shame on you that's depressing
Whats depressing is you going out of your way to comment when it would have helped to just go and create your own video.
Cheers you could pour yellow and red food colour on the crust pop a candle in the crack use it as a prop for a volcano a science experience cheers..
Lol. So much effort directed towards a random interweb video. Congrats you winner.
The blood of Jesus protects me from all evil and the word of my testamony Revelation 12 : 10,11
