Pat, the beard and jumper combo, only missing a captains hat!
A bit embarrassing to do a whole section on serie A and think Sarri was still the lazio coach. Not great… anyway, the epl discussion was good.
papa mate sarr would be a interesting player to look into.
Sarri is not Lazio's coach... it's Baroni. He isnt even their last coach, they have had Tudor before Baroni...
These guys trying so hard to dig at chelsea, picking at anything negative they can.. including comparing them to a ‘heavily injured Arsenal’ when chelsea are 11 games into their new manager. Hilarious 😂
Laziness are doing sarri things and he’s talking to them in a language they understand. Very interesting considering he left in march.
Maresca inverting gusto is a problem! He's not good enough to execute in the final 3rd. Never thought I'd say this but I prefer a kepa to sanchez😂😢
In terms of player analysis, how does Curtis Jones line up against the top midfielders in the world right now? How would you classify him from a data perspective?
Sarri isnt the lazio coach , baroni is .
Would love to see you analyse the importance on Musiala to Bayern at the moment. Crucially unfit in away champions league games, but looks so crucial to how they work in recent weeks
Never thought Pat could be such a good host without shitting on the teams he dislikes. Not that I don’t love it when he does, just saying.
Didn't Sarri get sacked?
Oh my God I missed it. It's Baroni now. Thank you for making me less of an idiot.
You love pod guys ! Patrick I will follow you till the end! I feel like it is about time Liverpool get a deep dive given the form they are in
Thanks for the support!

Amad
Pat is the best
Bring little Mozart home 🥹
It was a surprise appointment because it really requires the squad to be moulded to one tactical setup. Chelsea in ways showed the difficulty in migrating a 3atb set up towards a back four across Conte and then Tuchel times. Agree with Pat on the needs, though I imagine they will also need to delve into the Academy set up to support as well. One extra need would be in CM. While there is a lot more protection around than in the ETH setup, I'm not that convinced by Ugarte and unsure if Mainoo has the physicals required to be a CM in a pair, particularly in a United team that has limited athletic options.
Last time Julian Ward became sporting director, he left after a couple of months because the manager had full power and he felt he wasn't valued enough. Who knows how well he'll work with Arteta if he went to Arsenal lol
I remember the Robin van Persie horse placenta incident. I think by that stage of his injury hit career, even the most rational, evidence-based scientific Arsenal fan was, "Hell yeah, bring it on!" One midfielder Real Madrid might think about could be Martin Oder....oh wait.....
Arteta isn't from the Real Sociedad academy. He grew up and played in a san sebastian academy and then moved to la masia before playing for real sociedad's first team in his professional career
We love you Pat all the way from Kenya, this is surely the best football content online. Shout out to Ted and Ravi, you are amazing.
Pat was the guy slandering Brennan Johnson - hilarious to watch him react to Ted talking about those people haha
Liverpool injury luck??? Alisson gonna be out for Oct, Nov, Dec. Elliot been out all season, Jota 2 months lucky....
2 red cards?
An imagine of Ted watching Uruguayan children playing football is a strange one
Are Liverpool new title favourites ? barring a stormer of a season from Trent Salah & VVD; NOPE! They will most likely finish 3rd.
Isn't Arsenal's only first team injury Odegaard?
🤣🤣 What was Arsenal's back 4 that conceded the goal and finished the game against Liverpool ? Odegaard, Saka, Saliba, Rice, White, Calafiori, Merino have all missed games due to injuries and suspensions(which is quite clear now that are only applicable to Arsenal) Even if I stoop down to your level of IQ, you'd still be wrong- Calafiori makes it 2 injuries.
Would absolutely love a breakdown of notts forrest, i still have no idea where this absolutely crazy form is coming from and really want to know the how and why!!
I am a Chelsea fan and I am not sure I'd say United got lucky against us. Although we were the better side, we were both crap and neither team deserved much. But United probably should have gotten two red cards, although Martinez one that late in the game, so probably wouldn't have affected the game that much. Ugarte definitely should have been sent over for any one of his 8 technical fouls while on a yellow card.
United got lucky? How? The referee was being shite, maybe Ugarte could have walked for persistent fouling. Had Garnacho shoot instead of passing to Sanchez, we wouldn’t be asserting about luck.. 🤣
@ if you could read properly, I said “I wouldn’t say United we’re lucky”
Pat there's very little intensity in the contact with Martinez.
What makes Ted so confident that City will spend money in January and also they have absolutely no depth in midfield and really not much off the bench.
Arsenal got the rub of the green last year when it came to injuries none of their top players were out for any meaningful length of time. City had KDB out for large parts of last season and Liverpool missed salah for a couple months when he was in the top 3 for G/A + Allison, Jota and diaz all missed a lot of games. Liverpool fell away with 5 or so games to go and City won the title. Arsenal have injuries but I think a lot of that’s down to about 6/7 players have played nearly every game over the past 2 years.
Thomas Partey literally played less minutes last season than he has already this season but okay....
Would love to see a deep dive into City’s stats this season. Is it really the injuries and lack of legs in midfield, or bigger concerns?
Do you have any topics you want to see us cover in future episodes? Leave a comment below!
How has Spurs xg against lowered considerably? Is it because of 2nd season under Ange or because of individual players playing to their actual level.
Brentford's defence. They are conceding more shots per game than Sheffield United last season.
Sanchez has had a great start to the season
it takes like 5 minutes to make a good thumbnail
Thank you for this I’ve recently left my job and started pursuing a career in football analytics full time your videos have been helping me with that thank you.
Ravi said it nice, you need to tell a story using data. The entire podcast was a good one for people like me who would like to retire and join sport analytics!
Antoniee robinson to united, guy puts in a bunch of crosses, is decent on the ball, rapid off the ball, and is most useful in transition (i.e. not defensively sound enough for a top team back 4) Would be a win win, fulham sell a 27 yr old for massive profit (20-30million) and united get a above average premier league left fullback that suits the system
wtf is this?
To me its pretty clear that hes not going to be able to play his preferred formation at united, at least not this season based off personnel as you stated. Im intrigued whether or not he’ll have to learn that the hard way or if hes smart enough to understand that from the jump. If we see a back 3 in his first game, to me it signals this is going to be another failure at united.
Thats nonsense, he has enough quality and profiles to do a good season, this United squad needs four good players to do Amorim justice.
Comparing Lenny Yoro to the Xbox 360… can’t say I expected that lmao
made me feel so old 😭
Where do you think United need to focus in the upcoming transfer windows? Leave your thoughts in a comment below!
This is a terrible appointment. United just don’t have the players for Amorim’s high-pressing 3-4-3. We’d need fast, strong, and pacey LCB and RCB options, plus dynamic wing-backs and a versatile CM which means a pricey squad overhaul. It’s hard to see how this works without serious investment and there is so much risk involved
@@kayb7018 as a portuguese i love how everyone now knows how Amorim plays and what he needs lol.
My dream would be to work in the analytical/recruitment field of football unfortunately studying biochemistry with 0 relevant transferable skills so a dream it will remain. Very interesting podcast though
Omg thank you for this video, do not have time to watch it now but will later, just wanted to comment. Wasn’t expecting this but as someone who is graduating soon I was wondering ways into the industry and haven’t found a whole lot of information in my search, so I’m sure this will be helpful!
Long time lurker here … really love the show, constant education for an American fan and really appreciate both of your takes and effort on the show! Reach out if you are in NYC, would love to buy either of you a pint.
Mad scientist plumber is my new dream job
There is a distinct lack of these in the world and we 100% believe you should pursue your dreams.
I am not sure about this one! Screams ETH 2.0. Manager from outside the Top 5 Leagues, doing well in his domestic league, had a very defined style of play.... Rings a bell.... I don't necessarily think United have the players for his system (albeit Ugarte has worked with him before). Who will play LM/LWB or a RM/RWB, do they have 3 top CBs and do they have the players that can play the Trincao/Goncalves roles etc... I feel as if Naglesmann would have been the better option due to his experience working is one of the most intense and difficult clubs at Bayern with very difficult personalities both at board level and in the dressing room. His tactical flexibility is also something United would have found handy. We haven't seen Amorim have to adapt system/formation because of his absolute dominance of the Portuguese league. What if a 343 isn't working? Does he have the experience and confidence to change it up? I just think he may get swallowed up in the League by a group of players that have thrown manager after manager under the bus. Whilst it is intriguing, I do think INEOS may have got it wrong....again. However, I am putting my neck out and am happy to be proved wrong.
We had 2 title 6 pointers and yet the United situation takes precedence. Wish people would ignore the 14th position team long enough to talk about more important things LOL
This episode is outstanding love the U curve explanation would have loved to see more Barcelona content but great job
