Real Wasabi Verses Fake - The Blindfold Taste Test - Wasabi Growing, Harvest, Preparation & Storage
Paulo demonstrates the comparison between real Wasabi and fake shop bought paste. He stages a real Wasabi verses fake Wasabi taste test using his freshly harvested roots and paste.
He makes use of some of his freshly harvested Wasabi to explain the fundamentals of Wasabi preparation. He tells you what you need to do if you want to start growing Wasabi and how to harvest, prepare, eat and store your fresh Wasabi rhizomes.
For this video Paulo draws in the extra help of his wife for a Wasabi taste test to give viewers a visual comparison of taste reactions between the two.
Claire goes blind folded and has to taste both real and fake Wasabi describing the taste differences between the two.
Why not check out my video on how to grow Wasabi here: ua-cam.com/video/ThVlWDUpFsc/v-deo.html

How to grow Cucumbers Outside or in a Greenhouse
I use perlite with my soil to keep it breathable and loose. My bigger Meyer lemon 🍋 I keep outside and every second day I fetch myself a lemon. Thank you again. Unfortunately I do not speak Greek 🇬🇷 but I learned a few words.
I propagated my Meyer lemon 🍋 tree 4 times I gave away 2 of them and on the bigger one I have got three buds which I hope will transform in flowers 🌺 I keep them indoors, at the moment because we are end of November.
You can graft your trees from seed 🌱 of which I have many from so I will graft them.
Thank you Sir, I am new to citrus and every other experience is very well appreciated. I live in the south of Germany 🇩🇪,pretty cold 🥶 here but all of my established trees 🌳 are outdoors in pots near my south window 🪟 where I have in the inner room a bigger heater. Till now I succeeded to root some cuttings and two leafs. Thank you again.
What about baby lemon tree grow from seed?
Love cardone with lamb, chicken, beef, fish! Cardone loves lemon!
He's a "Real gardening GEEZER "!! 😂 OWW OWW ! 😅
I'm interested in acquiring some. Would you / could you sell me some and ship to the US? Or, if you have any interest in trading for seeds of plants native to the Appalachian mountains of the US (I'm in USDA zone 6) I'd love to discuss that. If you can't sell any, can you all links to any individuals or nurseries that would sell/ship to the US?
Cheers fella for this video. Looking to take a cutting from a successful tree, growing in ROI, for my little one to tend to. Here's to a few slices from our homegrown fruit!!
Awesome, thank you
So much valuable information. Thank you. I love it with tomato based sauces. Just a bit is lovely.
Great video! Thank you! I have a Question, to anyone who knows...I've been thinking of planting this out into my garden and just let it naturalize in. What is it's growth like outside of a controlled potted environment? Does it become invasive?
Thanks for the advice 👌👍
Yes! The leeks and Elephant garlic (another leeks that mimics garlic) are great crops to grow with little work! Thanks for the video mate! Keep making videos great info.
Love your rosehip video. I I am trying to plant fields of it and lavender
definitely an abortifacient. it contains pulegone. that is why vermin hate it. be very careful. dried herbs and distilled scent will repel pests. Ingestion? don't think I'd do it.
I really enjoyed your video. I've had a horrible time sleeping all night for quite a while. I'm going to try making tea with these herbs. Wish me luck. 😊
Hey buddy , lemon balm is the best of the bunch also so good for anxiety
Hi Paulo, could a lemon tree survive outside if covered in a fabric material over winter? My mother in law got a lemon tree, after bugging us for one for 2 weeks. After 1 day, she wanted to get a refund because it was too tall for in doors lol... I said I'll take it but I don't have space for indoors. I didn't want to do a refund
Mantap 👍🌏🌱🙏☕
The smell of the cypriot oregano is just unreal, it's such a nostalgic smell for me! My family are from Argaka so I always get loads and bring it back with me when I visiting them. I will have to see if I can find any seeds!
Rebecca, that's amazing! I think its the best part of Cyprus! You should be able to see very small black seeds at the bottom of the bag...good luck and stay in touch! are you based in the UK?
@@paulotheurbanfarmer5982 I was looking online to see if I could buy any as I seem to have gone through my jar quicker than usual haha, and I came across your video! I'm based in Hertfordshire. None of the little continental shops around here or north London/Green Lanes in particular (if you know the area) seem to sell it, which is surprising considering how many Cypriots are there.
@@rebecca_elli I know! You are not that far from me I'm In Amersham Buckinghamshire. What I did was I visited st Raphael monastery near Pomas...there is an old guy there that sells big jars of it opposite the church...the base was full of seeds but try online...I think you can buy Cyprus oregano online....ok...good luck with it!
How long after you give water because you didn’t gave water
Love your video! Keep it up! ❤
you have to try it with some triple cream Bree and a squeeze of lemon
Great demo, thank you!
Great vidio, Thank you!
i didnt see seed on your video ;)
I grew radicchio in north Florida, planted in October like lettuce. They never bolted. They grew slowly until I had to remove them in late May to plant sweet potatoes. Other than being bitter as walnut shells, it was great. It was trouble free. If it got too cold or hot or dry it just slowed it's growth. I don't think a single leaf had a bug hole. That year Christmas eve night and Christmas night the temperature dropped to 20F (-6C). It had no frost damage. It was hitting 95F (30C) before I pulled it up. It never wilted.
a walking leek :O
Could you put some on cold water and drink it.
Hi. Enjoyed this history thank you tremendously! Here in Kentucky US we love gardening and being self sufficient. You are spot on with your dreams for a sustainably will happen. Love your channel. Just found it looking for lemon thyme. Ever in the States, visit KY .
Hey Jennifer thank you so much! I would love to come to the US ! Are you in the appellation mountain range?
Thank you. Not sure of my chances.. I'm up north, my lemon trees are about 4/5 years old and have lost their leaves INDOORS during winter 🥶 but come back! Problem I have is the natural soil in my area is clay.. so it's "boggy". 😫
Hey buddy you can all but try, any potential for microclimate? south facing wall?
@paulotheurbanfarmer5982 Yes! Definitely, hope they win.. I've grown them from pips years ago 😆 we do get very attached, don't we. Thank you for your reply 👍
I actually grew mine from seeds, but I started the seeds in a little hydroponics unit 2 or 3 years ago. I grow it in a grow bag. Last year I divided it x4 and gave 3 away. I overwinter in a Warmer storage with LED grow light. This year, after watching your video, I'll divide again and keep one in little greenhouse and see what happens
How many sachets of this tea can you have in a day? A Spanish frien has given me some.
in italy we eat the stems.
Great video. I have a large plant I want to divide and gift. It flowers annually can this still be used? Thanks
It worked for me. ❤ Dont use while pregnant 😊 Also is a great companion plant to keep rabbits away cuz of its bitterness :)
i do so agree. love your video´s, i have learn´t me alot, and dont have green fingers, living in denmark. :) but i still dont get how the heck you keeping your rarrogon alive do winter and frost. mine keep dying even inside. :) it a mysterie to me how you get it to live outside year around without dying. ???? this is again a awesome video, curently im trying to create a biodyversity food garden, a mix of biodyversety and wild growing food source....this helps alot <3 love you, keep it up :D
I am new subscriber... I just tried Valerian root in pill form before bed the last two nights. Its the second night and I feel asleep but woke up with a headache and upset stomach. I'm not giving up. I'm going reduce the dose for now and focus on growing my own plants. I think your tea idea with the lemon balm and mint might actually help reduce my upset stomach and maybe the headaches. I also noticed I had to urinate 3 times! I haven't heard of that as a side effect. Maybe because I did drink more water with it. hummm... I better get in my garden and start growing some herbs. hee hee Im going to check out the rest of your video and see what else you have to give advice about. Thank you, Kellie
I had a great little patch under my fig tree for ~ 10 years at my last house - have some small ones starting now I'm settled in my new cottage and garden. As you say, perfect for any spot you can just let it grow!
Wasabi, I think, is like Linux. It's grower-friendly, but it's picky about the growers and locations it chooses.
Helps with long COVID
Sick of the fake oregano, same problem in,Australiia they sell trash.
❤️❤️❤️♾❤️❤️❤️🇩🇰
Very impressive I am interested studying growing rosehip in my country as I ca see is in high demand
I love this video one of the best ones Ive seen so much info!☺️
Hey Great stuff, lemons are awesome Heads up, you get the four season lemon tree. Gives you lemons all year round . Best one looking up.
I thought you’re going to grow from seed my mistake
I grow broad beans every where in garden.i cut them off at ground level leave theroots in and use stem for mulch.iv found my chickens leave them alone as well.
Is pennyroyal toxic or na? Everything online says it’s not safe to consume ??
Rooting cuttings is a good head start. Here in Canada I have Yuzu, Navel, Tangelo, Mandello, Meyer lemon, Calamondin orange, figs, goji berries etc. I just brought them in 8'x10' of my livingroom. Grafted a few together as well it is a great hobby. Plant may skip if roots in big pot take priority.
