What’s the difference doc with the endoscopic vs the microscopic surgical technique? And Stapedotomy vs Stapedectomy? I see the surgeon in September but not sure what else to ask outside of that? I currently get vertigo and especially when I turn my head to the right. Or when I do flip turns. I was diagnosed with bppv in the past but that was before we knew about the otosclerosis.

Oh and the material that’s used which is the best? I see a nickel and titanium mix, a titanium one, and some sort of plastic one (that doesn’t melt?)

I had this same procedure done at a different hospital about 34 years ago. If you require this type of thing, for otosclerosis repair and prosthesis please do not hesitate like I did. It really changed my life! When my ENT doctor took out the surgical packing I was able to hear perfectly for the first time in about 1 1/2 years! He dropped a pair of metal tweezers onto the metal pan and it went CLANK! Even today I still remember how marvelous that sound was to me! After being completely deaf in that ear for so long! I just cannot recommend how easy this surgery was and my subsequent life has just been perfect! Warmest regards from Greensboro, NC USA! Don't wait if you have this problem, please.

Surgeon did not seem to concerned and said he will see me at my post op. I could hear for a couple hours but now nothing at all. Completely deaf in that ear except for my tinnitus is still there. Awful!

I could hear when I left the surgery center but felt a gush of blood after I got home and now I can't hear at all out of that ear.

The ultimate solution of otoseclorisis disease is stapedoctomy surgery. The surgery is very delicate with almost 100% results if a experience Surgeon has done. 2nd option is hearing aid 3rd you will be try Homeopathic medicines. Avoid intake of too much salt, alcohol, caffeine, sweets and antibiotics medicines. All prescription must take with the consultation of experienced professionals. God bless you.🙏

Is there anyone (anywhere in the world) working on alternatives to surgery? I have otosclerosis in my right ear and I want to join the military. The surgery is not a viable option for me.

Wow, I wish I had the same outcome with my surgery (I did not go to Dr.Sperling, unfortunately). I lost 90% of my hearing due to the surgery. I had such bad vertigo post operatively that I had to be hospitalized. I have ringing, tinnitus, vertigo and stabbing pains in my ear. I'm just devastated by my outcome.

Back when I was a young worker, I`ve had situations when my work was jeopardized due to hearing loss. According to my physician, the issue was not curable, which triggered my need for personal study. Through this guide “fetching kamkam site” (Google it) for the treatment of hearing problems, I am now able to do my work well without getting bothered by tinnitus.
