Here you will see videos focused on a variety of crafts but mainly focused on custom woodworking, CNC, tips, jigs, and more. There may even be an occasional tool review... or rant. I'm always trying to think outside of the box looking to make unique and different products. or at least make them differently. I've been making sawdust since the late 80's.
My passion for woodworking, mixing in the fun and survivalist nature of paracord, and my faith birthed chrisTcross Crafts. I enjoy interacting with others, so any (clean) suggestions or opinions are appreciated. We all can learn from each other.

Making a Unique Heart Puzzle That's Also a Toy, Art, and Marketing
A client wanted a "sign" for her new therapy office. Instead, I made a unique heart puzzle using her logo to market her business, that can be art when not used, or something that can be played with to occupy children while in session. It's made up of several wood species - a Bubinga stand, Red oak heart base, and Purpleheart, Padauk, Walnut, and Yellowheart puzzle pieces. This was challenging, but came out really well. Thankfully, she loved it.

I needed a quick set-up drying rack for finishing parts. This Saker Tool 4 in 1 Painter's Accessory Tool was perfect so I got one, will give it a test, and then review it. This thing is made for large interior and exterior door painting so you can paint both sides and let it dry. You can stack multiple on top of another to save space and make quite a nice drying rack. 6:28 just can to see that
@@watching4410 you know you want one now just so you can do that.
Have the flat dust collection piece of plastic in my saw now and dust doesn't make it out of the saw well. Have already used David Patterson method of closing up the rear. Just order the big gulp and was glad I watched your video cause now I know it will not fit into saw without cutting the bottom sheet metal so you can fit it up into the space. Thanks for saving me a whole lot of time.
That's why I share... to hopefully save other time from my mistakes and trials adapting things to a fixed machine. Thanks for watching.
"Cause I'm lazy, I really don't like painting" lol. I can relate to that Brother, made me laugh. New subscriber for that.
I feel like I'm not the only one.
The flex from the relief is my only concern. Both fences should take care of that though. All my pieces are cut. Just thinking about where to track it out.
Adding the curve to mine reduced weight. I was nervous that would cause a lack of support and allow for more flex but it didn't. The aluminum runners front to back and the fences from side to side have kept it flat. I hang it on the wall and don't leave it leaning.
Are you going to replace the bag with a pleated filter one day?
I've replaced the whole system with a 3hp cyclone. I knew this was a semi-temporary set-up to get me better results until i upgraded. I had it for a year or two until I could really step up.
@ChristcrossCrafts Very nice! God bless your wood! 🙂
@andrewlay88 thank you. Fyi... I love my new rikon cyclone. Wow.
If only I had a liftgate truck, and a pallet jack.................
Ok I’m new to wood work and building and followed another tutorial and had lots of sagging shelves over time. I made these and it transformed my entire shelving system in my shed. I went back and made brackets for my existing shelves and this is a rock solid method. I thank you !!
Thank you for watching. I'm so glad the system worked for you. It has been a winner for me so I hoped others would like it as well.
Thank you so much, help me a lot
I'm glad it was of some help
On my axiom a set parameters window pops up and stops everything. Cant get my machine to cut, did you have that problem ? Iv had my AR8 for one year and can't cut anything so far.
It sounds like you have a setting off or are on the wrong screen. If you've had it that long, my first call would be to axiom technical.
@ChristcrossCrafts I have contacted them a couple of times and no reply.
@garciarosa100 they were bought out by Jet and Powermatic and moved to TN. Go to the axiom user group on fb and keep trying.
So you just left half the Oramask on the sign?
This was a display, so yes. They wanted something that would show how it works. Leaving half did that.
Ok Chris, rock our world. Just started watching this video. Looks good, where did you find the low profile vac attachment?
I get all my woodworking supplies from klingspors woodworking shop. They are local to me but ship nationwide.
Great information but even better bloopers.
We all make mistakes so I try to share them.
Just finished a similar install of two racks with modified height. One on each side of a double door garage. Wish I was faster like you as it took me like 4 hours just to cut down and prep the 16 different legs with an angle grinder cut disk. I was afraid of rust so ended spray painting the cut ends. I also had to account for that extra clearance at the front while the door is still opening. Lucky I caught it in the initial measurements as I had not seen this video yet. Thanks for sharing.
Considering i had to cut all the parts twice, I'm not sure i did things so fast. It's a good system and I know you'll be happy with it
The inner scale is on the outside of the ring. The outer scale is on the inside of the ring. Talk about a twisted way of wording from production engineers.
Whatever works
Do you not know how to hold a gauge against the wood? Almost every time you scribe in this video your hand bumps the gauge! Come on!
Talking about it while recording up close is never easy against slick material. Maybe you can do better now that you know what not to do.
I am waiting to get into a shop. When I do, first thing I am going to build is a 4'x4' Microjig table top, and a smaller microjig sled, and, see how I like it. I am certain I will be building a lot more jigs once I do that. I have a large sled now, had to make it out of plastic plywood, because, I have to work out under a tarp/carport at the moment, so, have to keep my tools put up or rust, etc.. Portable dust collection, Tables, Sawhorses, accurize all of my tools, and start filling the shop up with hand built tools. Store purchase a few here and there, but, for the money, Disk, Belt Sanders, etc, I prefer to build my own.. And, I have an idea for a rotating spindle sander with adjustable table, which will use one motor to drive each of the different size spindles on a carousel. Can't wait to get situated and start building. I can get away with metal building, but, wood is a waste of time right now.. Sucks, but, lets see what happens in November and Jan 20th, before I take what I have been saving for 20 years and drop it on such a big investment.. Ha... Cheers, keep it up.. I see you doing all sorts of cool things with the matchfit.. Cool uses building the picture frames.. :)
Nice Job on the System... I can tell you saved a bunch on the whole dust collection system.. Been there, "tried" that.. Ha...Ha...
Your jig for making the support bracket is very nice.
Thank you. I'm glad you found it helpful. It has come through for me several times
I just ordered a super DD and the base is much smaller than yours. This thing is like 9" across...looks like yours is 15 or something
They offer a couple of sizes.
But will it fit on a jobsite saw. Just looks too big for my table.
That's why you make it to suit your needs.
looks good. Weeding tool?
I snagged one off Amazon.
@@ChristcrossCrafts what is it called other than a weeding tool... I keep coming up with gardening implements
@007JHS search Amazon or wherever for a masking, vinyl, or craft weeding tool. Some even come in sets with spreaders, scissors, tweezers, and other tools
Let me know if you need some EZStudRacks! All that between stud storage! ua-cam.com/video/cuDkXgWIASM/v-deo.html
This is a great idea for the DIY space for sure! Love it! Tim
@@hangthisupmyshedorganizing296 thanks. It has been helpful and holds a lot of weight.
I like your idea but my application will be different. I will be getting rid of the lower leg supports and building the saw carriage into a 4’ X 8’ table. My idea is to bolt the carriage onto a sheet of plywood and building a box that will enclose the motor. My feelings are that the box will always have negative pressure which will keep the motor cool and I can add maybe a 2” hole in the box that will low more air flow inside the box keeping the motor cool. I can put an adjustable door over the hole to give me better control over how much air flow the enclosed box will have and the box will give me clearance to tilt the motor flor miters.
Yeah, there are several build videos for that sort of application.
Good video Chris. However I noticed in your video you have the same issue I am trying to solve. During the carve, the Oramask is being removed from the center of the "A" on the small text. I have the problem with "O, P, D", etc. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to stop this from happening?
The smaller and more detailed, the harder that is to stop. More open grained and porous woods make it worse. Sanding it smooth, removing all dust, and properly squeegeeing the mask is the best method I've found. A sharp bit with the right speeds also helps.
Generally speaking, most of these door lock cylinders have numbers on them. You might still have to tear it apart to find the cylinder number, but once you do you can just order the correct keys, which is much cheaper than rekeying or replacing. YOU'RE WELCOME!!!
Well, that's all well and good. If you are a new owner and the previous owner still may have a key, I'd rather rekey or replace it. Good to know, though.
@@ChristcrossCraftsMy point was... With the cylinder #, you can go online and buy a matching key for that cylinder #, without the added expense of a locksmith.
I like watching illiterate assemble anything. Great video.
there's a painful high-pitched noise in the background that makes it impossible to listen to this video :(
That would be the cnc cutting at different intervals. Sometimes the bits scream when the feeds/speeds aren't right.
Any pdf plans with dimensions and cut list?
Not really. It was built custom to my needs and wants. Most of the information is listed throughout the video. I designed it on a napkin then on paper with a list of all I wanted.
This is honestly amazing now im kicking myself bc this wouldve been perfect for my garden tools but i just put up french cleats and now need to adapt to that system lmao!
I left the space behind my shelves (space between studs) for handles of garden tools to slip behind the shelves. That keeps them from tipping over.
Any reason you didn't just do this in the center of your bed and then surface it? Would have been waaaaaay less work.
I chose an area that was easily accessible where I didn't have to lean way in. Where is irrelevant as long as the tramming is done before you surface.
You could even get a little more depth by sort of sliding shelf flush to wall by cutting out slots around studs for actual shelf... not much, but every bit counts!!
In my shop, I did just that and also built shelves between the studs. Here, I didn't because I'm using the gap behind the shelves and between the studs to prevent tool handles (shovels, rakes, etc.) From falling.
Beautiful sled, the cutout curve is elegant, and your tolerances are remarkable. Well done sir
@@TosaNewsense thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to share your thoughts.
Beautiful. Genius! Did you do a Weight Test to?
I didn't here because what would be stored here isn't heavy. I did when I built the same storage in my shop. I hung from it then stored stacks of barnwood on it.
i just try search and looking what feed and speed need use my new 2mm and 3mm bit and V-bit 15 degree 6mm-0,3mm carving bit. but all have only old cavemen imperial dimensions, need normal metric system know feed and speed, spindle not can setting less 10 000 RPM. 10K-24K normal. little tip, 97% all earth use metric system, only 3 country use old historic cavemen imperial system today.
Do a quick internet search for inch per minute to mm per minute. Fill in your specks and jot down the result. A few minutes now saves a lot of work later.
Brilliant!
Thank you for watching. I hope it gives you ideas.
the placement of the router top vertical adjustment on the router is in the wrong place. The Manuf. should of put it to the lower right. Where it is now I have to move my fence back to use the handle.
I have mine installed sort of sideways in my table and have no issues accessing the switch or below table adjustment knob from below, or the above table adjustment hole with the fence pulled in over the collet.
if you install this way you have to move the fence to get access to the height adjuster with the rod, not so practical.
I don't. The height adjuster sits towards the front and does not interfere with the fence. You may have seen a test fit.
Does the crafter at Chris Cross Crafts listen to Christopher Cross while crafting a cross?
Almost as good as Chris Cross will make ya jump, jump.
Great video…one question, how did you cut the dovetails vertically in your triangle that hold down the picture frames while cutting?
It can either be cut using a hand router and guides, router table and a jig, or on a cnc. I played around with my cnc on this one.
Thank you for your vid, learned a lot
Happy it was a help. Thank you for watching.
I bought a big pack of 5” screws so I can cut them to whatever length I need.
Good call. That works really well.
I just receive a dust rite cyclone dust collection system. Advertised as 1250CFM. But after 3 uses, I’m getting 450CFM. It’s super weak. I may upgrading to this one here
I cut a lot of mdf and even that barely slows it down. I do have to clean out the bag more than if I'm only doing solid wood or plywood. I love this system.
You a strong man it's an awkward weight to move. Just got mine 😃
Clearly, it's not strong enough in the mind.
Lowe's clearance sale July 1-24. They marked it down to 49 dollars from 149.00. Is it worth it to get it?
Mine was but others have stated bora changed something and the quality isn't like mime anymore.
@@ChristcrossCrafts I canceled the order after reading the reviews on Amazon and Lowe's.
I love mine. Glad I got before they stopped caring.
Very helpful I used this method and it works perfectly
I'm glad it was useful for you. Thank you for watching.
You needed to route relief grooves with a straight bit first so your dovetail bit didn’t have to work so hard. 🫶🏻🇨🇦
That's optional. On my workbench, I did it that way.
Great video, although I do have a couple of questions. 1. What is the v-carve type bit you're using? 2. What is the depth of the cuts? it seems a single v-carve is doing the single job. 3. What seal did you use? Can it be used on paint? I'm trying to paint the wood black, use the oramask to carve out lettering then applying different coloring. but it seems I need to cut them out first? I appricate your time and video. Cheers.
1) that is my go-to 60v bit spectra from Amana 2) they vary based on the width of the font lines. In vectric, it has a toolpath called "v-carve" which bases the depth on font line width, bit used, and depth is varied automatically. 3) any sealer works. If using Lacquer, then seal with lacquer sealer. If something else, shellac works well. Paint or seal, then oramask. Cut out letters for the first color, then reapply oramask. Cut 2nd color, and repeat as needed.
The jig is the magic for making dozens of these quickly. Thanks 👍💪
Glad it helped. I use it often.
6-13-2024- huge reduction in quality. Does NOT come partially assembled and the instructions are atrocious!!! Thought this video would help but it doesn't come like this anymore. I wish it looked like the one in this video!!
I have heard it keeps getting worse, and I hate that because imine is a great product.
