damn his influence is Roalnd Kirk but you keep;istening and you will see the progression . But honestly... don't put out critic when you have no idea of "this" kind of music and Ian's growth as a musician and a classic Rock player on high end of achievement.

Ian Anderson was born in the wrong year, he’s really a bard from the Middle Ages. Traveling minstrel show etc etc. I’m pretty sure in his younger years he could pick up any instrument and just learn by screwing around with it.

Is quite impresive the way of Ian Anderson criticians talk about his style,! But is amazing how many people use Jethro Tull videos content... he is few less people using traversal flute resources to add colors at rock music... Keep working young lady good video

You mentioned it was a bigger bow than a violin bow. Possibly a Cello bow? Anyway this was a great performance by Heart and I agree, Ann Wilson plays the flute very well. This is a surprisingly rare video of her playing the flute in live concert. There are some other songs by Heart that she played the flute on but I'm not sure f there are any other videos of her playing it. You did a great reaction too.!

She is appreciating his performance and playing. She clearly appreciates various aspects of the performance not just his flute playing skills. 🎶👍

I had always thought that Ian Anderson had exposure to Scottish folk music and, if so, the Highland pipes use a finger style much like he is exhibiting on the flute.

You entirely miss the point. You are witnessing genius and you want to focus on how long he had been playing. Stick to your mechanical, uninspired approach. You will never be Ian Anderson's fingernail.

They said theyd play it faster, but then, not only did they play it WAY faster, they get faster each time around and ad lib and do extra stuff. They still did a 6:08 version, and the album version from 1971 was 6:45, but much slower. This is the shortened, edited version. The 6:08 version is out there, and many reactors have covered it, including vocal coaches such as TheCharismaticVoice and FairyVoiceMother, all of whom have an absolute field day with this.

Well I would love to ply like that after 10 years of flute.

"His sound is not that great"......good LORD, woman, do you not appreciate the mad skill and audacity of Ian Anderson's flute playing? He is the one and only rock flautist, and the fact tht he taught himself to play makes it all the more impressive. The man is a muciscal genius!

I used to hear on the radio a version of this song by Seatrain. The pace was faster.
