I got to sit in the second row at a Tull show years back in my hometown Springfield, IL., and, being a guitar player, I was focusing on what Martin Barre was doing for a moment and I looked up and Ian was glaring right at me with those buggy eyes, like 'Hey the show's going on over here, Dude, pay attention". I got such a kick out of that!
I almost went to that very show but had to work. I was heartbroken. I couldn’t believe Tull was playing just a couple miles from me. That was about 2007 I believe. So bummed I couldn’t see Tull with Martin.
Ahh.. Nostalgia for Ian Anderson / Jethro Tull. Nostalgia for the way I came to first see you. Its Christmas, after 2 years of global stress and trauma, what better time to escape into joyful nostalgia! Merry Christmas wonderful amazing lady!
Heline., Ian does Christmas concerts with his band Jethro Tull every Christmas at Cathedrals in the UK with all proceeds going to the church . I've been to many and just went to one on December 4th this year at Bury St Edmunds and I had the fortune to be in the front row. This piece was first on the set-list and usually is . Plus he did a Christmas concert with Andrea Griminelli (a good friend) at the Vatican, Consolation Auditorium on Christmas eve this year. The videos are now on UA-cam.
If you get the chance, listen to First Snow on Brooklyn from the Jethro Tull Christmas Album. I truly believe it has some of Ian's best and most expressive flute work. Love to see and hear your reactions to Jethro Tull!
Hi! HELINE!🦄 Ian is always the consummate showman! I really dig his phrasing! Right on target with the Big Band comparison. Have you heard Tulls "The Christmas Song"? Thank you!🎶🎶
Love it! The JT Christmas album is full of new arrangements of traditional Christmas songs ... Greensleved, We Five Kings (there's 5 guys in JT), Holly Herald ... and some new music by Ian Anderson, like Ring Out Solstice Bells
Cora is spot on about the JT Christmas album is full of great arrangements of traditional Christmas songs, different arrangements of older Tull songs with a holiday, winter solstice feel & 4 or 5 new Tull songs. Check out "The First Snow on Brooklyn " & "Weathercock" . Ian had done many concerts over the years in cathedrals to benefit their upkeep & restoration.
We are all with you on the Christmas music crazies, when they started playing Christmas music at Thanksgiving Non-Stop we all started losing it. Lol But we were saved by the internet when we didn't have to listen to the radio anymore and we could Bluetooth off of our phone to the car sound system and listen to whatever we wanted! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇲
A really good flute-centric Tull song is Warm Sporran. It's kinda short, it's an instrumental, and there are no live versions, but it's so awesome and has an amazing flute solo
Always delighted to get another Heline reaction. As soon as you spoke of your mall Christmas trauma my heart went out to you, lol. May you nevertheless have the best Christmas and the happiest of New Year's, Heline :) 🎄
Another great analysis, all that was missing from Ian’s performance was some vocalisations, old style! That would have livened it up. Here’s you chance Heline, record a version in 1970’s Tull style for your channel!!! Enjoy Jethro Tull’s Christmas Album, most of all have a great Xmas and peaceful start to your New Year!
Lovely reaction as usual. I like seeing Heline back to Yettro Tool 😃 I thought We 5 Kings from the Christmas Album was interesting - lots of flutter tongue.
I was hoping you were going to do a reaction to one of Tull's chrsitmas songs. I love that you enjoyed it. I listened to this music since I was a child.
I always enjoy your reaction videos. Even if your reaction isn’t all positive, I still look forward to your professional opinion. I’ll look forward to new videos in 2002
No minähän se siitä joulevystä suu vaahdossa jankutin. Ja kuuntelinpa sen tänäkin jouluna pari kertaa. Tämä letkeän jatsahtava sovitus on perua juuri siltä levyltä, osa huilusta vain on siirretty jousille ym. Levyversiolla on siis enemmän Ianin huilua, eikä tarte tuota ainaista mulkoilua katella 👀😉.
Heline, what kind of chair are you sitting in, I'm looking for the kind of chair I can sit in for about 15 hours a day. What's the make of it, looks like a cool thing made for gamers and things. ?????
Hi, Heline. Haven't seen you for an age! You look lovely! Enjoyed the video, and your honest viewpoint. Happy Christmas, kidda, and the best for 2022. ❤️
You get a like because your stream is excellent, but I would give you two to hear you pronounce Jethro Tull. No offence intended, sounds better your way 😁
Well..., you don't feel this is the pure kitsch? Ian was and still is the great musician/author, who did the same for the flute as Vivaldi and others during 70s to 80s of 20th century - using all creative and sound possibilities of the instrument, accepting modern arrangements styles of the music... That's his heritage - not the showing his questionable flute skills for an avearge mainstream music production... Martin
They shouldn't de-monitize, simply because they interrupted you twice while I watched then after. I think they're being a bit dishonest in their practices.
Love when you do Jethro Tull videos! Would love to see more!
First time I’ve seen this..absolutely love it 🤙🎼

4 months ago I was having open heart surgery. So thankful to be feeling so much better to continue appreciating vids like yours, Heline. ♥️
It’s what makes A I great. He takes a song and does different things with it.

Merry Christmas!
As someone new to the bass (at an older age) to hear that you suffer from "flying fingers" as a classical flute plater gives me so much hope.

Recently watched a different reviewer talk about We Five Kings. The song is also in 5/4 time.

Hi Helene! So great to see you again! Very Happy Holidays to you and your family! 🎅🤶🌲🎉✌️☮️
Thank you and Happy Holidays! 🎄🎶
I agree about his eyes. They were kind of scary when I first saw him.Fortunately he has mellowed out in his old age
Always delighted to get another Heline reaction. As soon as you spoke of your mall Christmas trauma my heart went out to you, lol. May you nevertheless have the best Christmas and the happiest of New Year's, Heline :) 🎄
Merry Christmas!
@@HelineReacts Thanks ❤
Ian do a lot of concert where the entrance goes to keep the churches in "shape" so they don"t slowly fall apart. (I have read and heard him say)

I don't think the showman in Ian Anderson would ever let technique completely overtake presentation. I bet the high fingers are there partly for show.
I was thinking the same thing, he's very expressive and that's just one more tool for him
I get the feeling that his ‘inefficient’ style of keeping his fingers more distant from the keys gives a more percussive sound to his playing.
Merry Christmas Heline and a Happy New Year.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Has Ian ever contacted you? If Jethro Tull ever performs in concert and you have the chance. You must go. They'll blow your mind.
I worked in retail 39 years and I hate Xmas songs but Ian and you are worth it
That crismas album is orsom great.Ian put som great songs in there.
"Weihnachten mit dem Bundespräsidenten" translates to "Christmas with the Federal President". It's an annual event.
Love this arrangement...Ian is a Ham...LOL
It has a jazz feel to it I think.
christmas PTSD totally relate
Lovely reaction as usual. I like seeing Heline back to Yettro Tool 😃

I was always kinda sad that Florian Opahle didn't get a little solo part, a guitarist of his calibre needs to be heard.
😍

I prefer ring out those Solstice Bells from songs from the woods thats my opinion although I have heard this before x
Hi, Heline. Haven't seen you for an age! You look lovely! Enjoyed the video, and your honest viewpoint. Happy Christmas, kidda, and the best for 2022. ❤️
It has been a crazy autumn but I'm back again! Merry Christmas! 🎄

There are much better songs on Jethro Tull's Christmas album. I hope you react to that album soon
yer a flute teacher?

Opps. I mean I A.

The music is great, you however, keep your day job.
Ian Anderson is wonderful in his crazy way, for me no is Ian Anderson, Jethro Tull must have chili, a lot of chili
Ian is as great as ever, but the arrangement and orchestration? Nope. Don't like this at all.
The orchestra is a little overpowering and too high in the mix. I hope der Bundespräsident liked it.
