Yes it is a 'Telynka'. Ukrainian national variant of overtone flute. Everything works the same: power of air flow and coverage of bore dictates a note it sound.

New one for me - I think I knew this form of flute existed, and it makes sort-of sense physics-wise, but I've never seen one played. I imagine the technique for trilling and quick frequency changes is similar to what I would do with brass instruments and tonguing to keep the articulation clean. Very interesting!
I didn’t like the song the first time I heard it back when they were first a contestant, but I liked it more and more each time I listened Now I use that flute stanza as a ringtone and love it.
I was a little upset that there was no trembita (the longest wooden wind instrument) in this performance. If you watch the performance at the national selection or the video on the Eurovision channel before the start of the competition, there is a trembita.
Hi! Heline!🦄 Hope all is well with you and the doggos! I had watched this earlier and was very curious about the flute. I immediately thought of you! I did like the piece and I enjoyed the flute part! I am finding an English translation as we speak. Thank you!🌿🌹
Amazing reaction my friend Heline!!....In 2017, the music world was shocked by the bursting onto the scene of a 22-year-old singer named Dimash Kudaibergen, who performed on the famous Chinese competition show for professional singers called “The Singer”... It was just It was necessary for this young man to make his first appearance, making a cover of one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse", to be considered from that moment on as the best singer in the entire planet....No one in the musical field had ever seen a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges above 7 octaves and several semitones, that is, all 88 keys of a digital piano, which reaches a little more than 7 octaves and as if that weren't enough, sing the more than 12 languages...Since then all kinds of experts (Vocal coach, analysts, singing teachers, youtubers, reactors, etc.) have dedicated themselves to reviewing their presentations to try to understand how someone can sing this way...The incredible thing is that that presentation in China was in 2017 and 5 years have passed since then, but what Dimash has done in these 5 years is to further improve his wide vocal range, which is currently practically above of the 8 octaves... The Covid pandemic stopped his concerts worldwide, all with tickets sold in just seconds, via the internet, but at the same time it ended up catapulting him to the top of popularity worldwide...Anyway, since I think you are one of those reactors who have not yet met this impressive singer, here is the link of that presentation in China in 2017, with the song S.O.S. and I would like you to mention my name as the person who recommended him to you..It is a more recent video than the others, so it does not have the same number of views as the previous ones, which have millions of views, but it is a more complete video, with an intro, subtitles in several languages and with the improved quality of audio and sound....ua-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/v-deo.html
Slava Ukraini! How unique. I can see why they won. I have never seen such a flute. And I normally don't like rap. But they executed it very well. And combined it really cool with a nice eastern European melody. Lots cool dancing and costumes too. Nice!
Was this only shot with drones? Everything is zooming in and out and moving all around it is hard to tell what they are actually doing. It's a good song, the flute could have been cool to watch and see more of...but it was shot in a way that made it all extremely difficult. I guess they cared more about appealing to the tik tok crowd than actually showing us a good performance, with a lot of great shots to show us more than just being there would. We could have got a better look if some member of the crowd just uploaded their footage they took on their cell phone. You did great with what they gave you to work with, but this was not shot well at all. :/
I also find the filming frustrating because you can’t see the other flute that the guy on the right end is playing of course it doesn’t help that he’s completely covered up by shreds of cloth. The flute has multiple holes and is played downward, kind of like a recorder.
Music at Eurovision is pre recorded, only vocals are live, the way he plays this instrument doesn't necessary reflects the way it was used in the recording studio.
This is telynka
One of the national Ukrainian instrument
So funny how you watch a video, recognize the instrument and just grab and show it because you have them all :D
Time to bring back all these cool wind instruments to popular music.

Thank you for reaction. It's very pleasant to see how someone understand how it works, and can explain it. Also +respect for your flute collection

Please, in Englanti you are "flautist" extraordinaire. Spoken as Tampereeltä. Lauri.
Your Video Looks like you would play piano and try to explain how violine works 😅

This is sopilka, not flute
General category of flute works fine.
There's a lot of flautulence in Celtic music. I don't think you've reacted to any of that. For example: ua-cam.com/video/aE6pDoNEX0I/v-deo.html
Music at Eurovision is pre recorded, only vocals are live, the way he plays this instrument doesn't necessary reflects the way it was used in the recording studio.
He played a lot times live in different place
This instrument is telynka if u interested
If you listen better, you can hear that the vocalist plays on telynka live.
Wth was that?
Люблю флейтисток. У них губы очень сильные. А от Украины лучше бы Алина Паш поехала.
