    A caution to those coming from lower altitudes and who are seniors wishing to retire in Santa Fe; it is very difficult to acclimate to the high altitudes in New Mexico as you age. Many seniors must sell, move to lower altitudes after settling there due to health concerns!

    We lived in Santa Fe in 1995 (my husband was at the Lab). Thinking about returning for retirement. We own a large home on 11 acres in Pennsylvania and are interested in downsizing, so a place like this one you featured would not be for us! I like you guys and appreciate the fact that your family is local for generations. We value diversity very highly and love outdoor activities. The idea of being close to everything is a draw. We're not ready yet, but it's not too early to dream, right? When we lived there we owned a 1930 adobe on West San Francisco Street. It was small but we loved many things about it. I am an artist and that is a major reason Santa Fe is appealing! Thanks for your videos! I will keep watching.

      Thank you so much for sharing your story and for the kind words! It sounds like Santa Fe has left a lasting impression, and we can see why it’s on your radar for retirement. Downsizing to a charming adobe home sounds like a wonderful plan, especially with your artistic background-Santa Fe’s art scene would be a perfect fit! And you’re right, it’s never too early to dream! We’d love to help when the time is right and answer any questions you have along the way. Thanks again for watching, and we look forward to sharing more of Santa Fe with you! We'd love to do a one on one meetup with you, to get to know you a little bit better. Feel free to give us a call!

    Beautiful home and the presentation 100% perfection, well done sir. However, someone spending over 1M for a property is also going to own some vehicles of high value who might prefer a garage rather than parking outside in the elements. I know, it's location-location etc. Just saying but best wishes granting someone in the future this adorable home.

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 22 дні тому

      Thank you so much for the kind words about the presentation! You make a great point about the garage-it’s definitely something many buyers in that price range consider for high-value vehicles. Sometimes in Santa Fe, the emphasis is more on location and historic charm than on modern amenities like garages, but it’s certainly a balance. Thanks for sharing your perspective, and we’re glad you enjoyed the tour!

    Ich persönlich finde den patio / Garten und Pflanzen sehr schön, ebenso die Fenster , die Dusche, die Gips Wände, die Holz und Betonböden, die Oberlichter/ Glas , die Lampen wunderschön, nur die Bauhausstühle, das Chrom und die Weissen Panton Sessel, die Glastablare passen gar nicht , aber machen die Räume hell und durchsichtig, somit grösser wirkend. I würde das House sofort kaufen und ummöbilieren. Nur meine Meinung. Alle Videos from Terceo a great 🎉🙌🙌🙌👍 interesting

    I've lived in So Cal, then Denver, and now West TX. I'm a creative (video editor), and there's no creative community here, as in none. How much is a two bedroom/2 bathroom apartment? Thank you. Also how many months out of the year does snow keep you inside?

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 22 дні тому

      Thanks for your question! We don’t handle rentals, but we can share that two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments in Santa Fe can vary widely depending on the location and amenities. As for snow, Santa Fe does get a beautiful dusting in the winter, but it’s rarely enough to keep you inside for more than a day or two. Now and then we get hit with a big winter storm and the snow accumulates, but even then the roads are clear to drive on within a day or two. Do you have other questions about the area? We’d be happy to help!

    • @Livinginsantafe

      We understand your concern! Radiation is something many people wonder about when considering Los Alamos. The area has a long history, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory has taken significant steps toward environmental remediation and safety over the years. But it's something everyone has to decide for themselves if it's safe enough for them.

      @Livinginsantafe 2 місяці тому

      Thank you for your comment! It’s true that New Mexico’s public education system doesn’t always rank as highly compared to other states. However, there are still many highly ranked public and charter schools throughout Santa Fe, serving students K-12. In addition to these, there are several excellent private school options available for families looking for alternatives. We always recommend exploring the different school options to find the best fit for your family’s needs.

    New construction is more energy efficient? That depends. I know for a fact that living in a 100 year old adobe house means that it keeps cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter due to its thick walls adobe construction (given your windows are newer;)

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 2 місяці тому

      You’re absolutely right! Authentic adobe construction has been proven over time, and those thick walls do an amazing job of keeping homes cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, especially with newer windows. While we love the timeless appeal of adobe, energy efficiency goes beyond just the walls. The roof material, windows, doors, and modern heating and cooling systems all play a huge role in the overall efficiency of a home. If you combine the charm of adobe with these modern energy-efficient technologies, it’s hard to beat! Thanks for sharing your insight!

    From a lifetime local: the best thing to do is to not get shot (one of the highest crime rates per capita), move to los alamos county (the best county in the state by far), and make sure you live northeast of the cerrillos road/st francis intersection so you can get the better policing side of the city. This place has low paying jobs (outside of owning your business and working for the labs) compared to the cost of living. The spanish culture is under fire constantly. The homeless population runs wild. Our criminal justice system is also a joke.

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 2 місяці тому

      Thank you for sharing your perspective. We understand that like many cities, Santa Fe has its challenges, and it’s important to acknowledge them. Also, being lifelong residents of the city, it's been tough to watch the city change. It's definitely not the same for us now as it was when we were kids growing up here. Regarding crime, homelessness, and drug addiction, these issues often go hand in hand, and we’re seeing them affect communities all over America, not just here in Santa Fe. It’s a complex problem that many cities and states are grappling with. Different parts of the city do experience varying levels of policing and safety, and it’s something every homebuyer should consider when choosing a neighborhood. Santa Fe’s economy is unique, with opportunities in the labs, small business ownership, and a growing arts and tourism sector. While the cost of living can be high, there are people who find a balance and thrive here. Growing up in the Agua Fria Village, it hasn't always been easy. But my family and I have worked hard and have found ways to thrive in our hometown. We always encourage folks to do their research and visit the area to see if it’s the right fit for them. There’s no perfect place, but Santa Fe continues to be a special home for many of us.

    Did I miss it or, in the spirit of transparency and full disclosure, if factual/accurate, should there have been at least a brief disclosure statement at the beginning of the video that the Tercera Agency is being compensated by featured vendors for the video and/or is a listing agency and will be earning commissions from the sale of homes in the featured developments? Otherwise, a conflict-of-interest question may arise. : )

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 3 місяці тому

      Thank you for bringing this up! Transparency is very important to us. To clarify, Benji and I are not being compensated by any vendors featured in the video. The information shared is purely to help viewers make informed decisions about living in Santa Fe. As real estate brokers, we do represent some listings in the area, and as standard in the industry, we earn commissions from sales. However, the primary goal of our content is to provide valuable, unbiased information to those considering a move to Santa Fe. We always strive to maintain transparency and will keep your feedback in mind for future videos. 😊 In the future, and as we continue to build stronger relationships with builders. We may feature their homes that we actually have listed in our videos. In those cases, we will be sure to state if we have "an exclusive right to sell for compensation" any listings in our content. But to be super clear, we are licensed Realtors, we make our living from helping people buy and sell homes in Santa Fe. All our videos are for educational purposes and our goal is to earn trust with people doing research and the opportunity to meet in person if and when they're ready to make a purchase. Then we will guide them through the process to the best of our ability. None of our videos are sponsored, we don't receive any money from anyone to post our professional opinions of what we see happening in our marketplace. Thanks for watching and for your comment!

    Perks for seniors, schools for families and a hospital? Parks and activities, community pools?

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 3 місяці тому

      Thank you for your questions! Santa Fe offers a variety of amenities catering to all age groups and needs. For seniors, there are several parks like the Santa Fe Railyard Park, which offers accessible walking paths and community gardens, and Fort Marcy Park, which has scenic views and quiet spaces for relaxation. The city also has several senior centers with activities and social events. Families will find excellent schools in the Santa Fe Public School District, as well as private and charter school options. Santa Fe High School and Santa Fe Preparatory School are notable mentions. Healthcare is well-covered with Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center. We also have Presbyterian Hospital now too. Lots of people will go to Albuquerque, a 45 minute commute for major surgeries that are planned, UNMH, the heart hospital, etc. For recreation, there are community pools like the Genoveva Chavez Community Center, which also offers a full gym, ice rink, and sports programs for all ages. My wife and I try to go swimming there once a week on Sunday mornings. They have the lanes all blocked off for lap swimmers, they have a hot tub with jets and a sauna to wrap up the swim session. Theres also a public swimming pool at Ft Marcy. The city is also home to a variety of parks with playgrounds, trails, and sports facilities. If you’re into outdoor activities, the nearby mountains and trails are perfect for hiking, biking, and more.

    NICE WORK! Almost twenty years ago, moving from a Jersey Shore home with a panoramic water view, I was blessed to purchase a very old adobe on the eastside with a big view. So, it IS possible, but rare to find an eastside home with spectacular up close views of the Sangre de Christo mountains. Believe me, living in these old adobes is a feeling that is almost impossibe to put into words. There is a feeling of a long time ago, a feeling of peace, a feeling of warmth in winter and cool in the summer beause the original builders back then knew the thick adobe walls will act as a passive heat exchange system. Yes, you're living in a vintage home that does need tender loving care. Being from back east, I think about the ole hacienda as I would taking care of a vintage wooden sail boat. Best of all there are plenty of local tradesmen who know how to work on and preserve the old buildings. All in all, I feel something deep about my olde hacienda like I've never felt about any place I've lived. I'm hoping when I'm gone, my bi-coastal kids will enjoy it and pass it on to their children. That's how much I love my home.

      You definitely need to specialize in Santa Fe. There are opportunities here, but it’s not easy. If you go to a city like Albuquerque with millions of people, sure, there may be more job opportunities and career paths to choose from… but then you have to live in Albuquerque. I don’t accept the generalization that there’s no jobs in Santa Fe. There are lucrative opportunities. But we need to specialize and be exceptional at what we choose to do to make it. It’s not for everybody. And it’s not easy. But it’s worth it.

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 4 місяці тому

      Property tax is pretty average here. There are several states around the country that people flee from because our property taxes are so attractive from where they’re coming from. Health care is an issue. But our facilities are adequate. Most people, who have major surgeries planned for, do go out of town or out of state to handle. Public schools are towards the bottom. But we have several exceptional elementary schools and several middle to high school options for parents to navigate through. There’s a way through that. Not arguing with you, your comment is appreciated. But there’s a way around all these things if living in Santa Fe makes up for the negatives.

      @@Livinginsantafe I lived there for around 20 years. (My grandparents were from southern New Mexico.) I miss NM bitterly. Everyone I knew complained about property tax. But I lived in the barrio near St Ann’s and we were not wealthy people. Only the Catholic schools were good, but they had problems, too. Most people were terrified of St Victims but not everyone could make it to Albuquerque. Some even went to Espanola to the hospital.

    Lived New Mexico for about 10 years and Santa Fe for part of that time. Santa Fe has gotten to expensive to rent or buy. If you come from California, Denver, New York etc. it may not seem expensive, but for the average family it is just too expensive even to rent an apartment. Getting overcrowded and the homeless people taking over the streets and store fronts. Trash and people waste is becoming a problem plus more crime. Loved the city back in the nineties. Love the weather except driving in the snow during the winter months, though the roads are maintained pretty well.

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 4 місяці тому

      Inflation is and is causing everything in EVERY city to be more expensive. Theres nothing anyone can do about that. Name a place in America where everything is more affordable? I’ll wait… Homeless is becoming a problem. But again… what’s it looking like in every city around the country? No homeless elsewhere? Have you been to San Francisco lately? Yikes! All these negatives people like to comment on… it’s everywhere. It’s a national problem. Anywhere we go, we’re dealing with these important issues.

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 4 місяці тому

      Espanola is a city all on its own. Yes, it’s only 45 minutes away. But I don’t believe mentioning this is warranted. Albuquerque is also 45 minutes away… buts it’s all on its own. We’re not encouraging anybody to buy a home in Espanola. Our market is Santa Fe proper. But you know what? The intense hiring spree at Los Alamos laboratory is causing a real estate revolution in Espanola. Undervalued properties have been selling at a premium. Does Espanola have reputation? Perhaps. But it’s up and coming. If the labs keeps hiring the way they plan to… Espanola real estate is going to Boom!

    • @Livinginsantafe

      Yeah, Santa Fe roads are in disrepair. We need some help on our infrastructure. That boils down to our city governance and the job they do. We all need to vote for leadership that’s going to care and take action on the things that we care about and believe need to be addressed.

      Santa Fe has been floating right around 100K people for awhile now. What’s your definition of a small town? Albuquerque to the south is 1 Million +! If you include all the surroundings areas. Santa Fe still has a small town feel. If a 100K population is too much for you, there are hundreds of northern New Mexico communities with tiny populations you can settle in.

    The cost of living is so insane here I’m looking at buying a house in Clovis instead (Clovis is a Midwestern/Texan dumpy town that’s still technically in New Mexico). I love Santa Fe so much but housing prices here are so ridiculous. Even a modest home here is in the millions and a run-down shack costs $400k minimum. I don’t want to be a renter until I die.

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 4 місяці тому

      Cost of living is a serious consideration. But realty of the costs are exaggerated greatly. You can buy a nice home, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, in good shape, with a yard for $400K. $400K doesn’t just buy you a shack here. That’s not reality. Thats being sensational.
