    Khaleel, have you tried 1.7mm in any of the tenergy series? Will it be too thin on the backhand? Also, will tenergy 19 pair better with an all wood blade or inner carbon? I need a good balance of control and attack and something not too reactive to incoming spinny serves.

    I’ve been playing since I was in 5th grade. We had a table in our living room. My first quality non sandpaper paddle was a handmade Swedish Stiga Stellan Bengtsson model. It cost $9.95 in 1970, three times the cost of any other paddle in the store. After 52 years and dozens of paddles later including custom made ones, I still believe that that paddle is the best one I’ve ever played with. I’m sure many of the paddles I used since that old Stiga wore out were as good or better, but for me I had never found that perfect replacement in terms of feel. I don’t know if it is the rubber, the paddle design, changes in ball, but logically I do not believe it is the paddle. I don’t think that new Cybershape is a radical improvement over other designs. It’s easy to move the sweet spot to a higher position on face as they’ve done by taking more material off the bottom and sides and moving it to the top. I think $245 is somewhat of a rip. I do not see it as a radical design that will change paddle design like the Prince oversized tennis racket did for tennis. I think there are too many other factors that affect feel and performance for ping pong. Everyone wants to find a product that will enhance their performance even if it is psychological; I.e. Dumbo’s magic feather. Take a cheap defensive oversized paddle and overlay a Cyberspace on it and trim it to match. See how it plays.

      Thanks for your reply. I agree that people spend way too much money on equipment and don’t develop their game enough. We will be coming out with a video soon on how professionals choose their equipment. The old STIGA blades were phenomenal in the 38mm ball days. They are too dated now for the new ball. They don’t have enough speed. I think just about any ALC type blade is good for most players. You don’t need to break the bank. I always tell people it’s not the gun it’s the cowboy, but at the same time, you don’t want to bring a knife to a gun fight.

      @@washingtondctabletennis6142i know you were salty about it but comment has merit. Your partner indeed had better technique and may be you can learn from him. No need to wait for strangers to show up to teach you. Check ma long's forhand and check your partner's forehand. They are very similar in style. Also most high level players hit that way. • @washingtondctabletennis6142
      @washingtondctabletennis6142 10 місяців тому

      Maybe it’s difficult and too nuanced for some people to understand. Clearly there is a difference in reality and how you are processing. Ma Long? The video is an equipment review. So I am feeling the ball and getting feedback, not training. It is not my equipment or what I use. I use a totally different rubber in my forehand that requires a totally different technique. Ma Long uses Chinese rubber and therefore has a totally different swing path and body weight transfer etc. Which is how I play my forehand when I am also using Chinese rubber in fh. Also, I had a strained groin muscle but I still filmed the video because it’s AN EQUIPMENT REVIEW, not a forehand technique video or a training video. So there is no weight transfer and I’m just using my arm to FEEL the ball. Do you know the difference in level between the person I was hitting with and myself? You seem to be an expert on table tennis. Have you been paid to test equipment? Have you been paid to use equipment? Which leagues have you played? Are you a professional coach? Do you get paid to play? Are you a national champion? Have you been on a national team? How many national teams have paid you for coaching? Please send videos of your perfect technique. I always love to learn from the experts.

      @RobertoCostas 2 роки тому

      @@washingtondctabletennis6142 I think there is enough rubber on the tip to create spin. The contact between the ball and the bat doesn't need several square centimeters because the ball doesn't travel along the rubber (or hardly does that) but sinks into it. When I check the mark left by the ball on the rubber after making a topspin it's always a circle about 1 cm diameter. The ball doesn't need more room for it to spin.
