    I’ve had a dead battery in mine for probably three or four years now and it would just randomly shut off or go into a boot loop for awhile… I never thought about just taking the battery out. Decided to finally upgrade to Windows 11 (the hacky way) and every time the system restarts to finish the install, the whole system goes into a boot loop three times and then crashes back into Windows 10 I really hope this fixes that

      They made a mistake with the configurator options... I don't think they've made the same mistake again since though. Probably because any machine they sent out with this spec would've been returned very quickly... this one escaped because the owner just turned it off when it overheated and was scared to tell their parents.

    That front is 100% supposed to be real walnut or oak, do you have a real one?

    • @sterntechdaddy
      @sterntechdaddy 10 днів тому

      If you check carefully, there’s nothing that actually states the front panel is real wood on any of the Fractal cases… it’s slightly misleading because they also don’t state it’s not, but it’s not actually dishonest. It’s plastic… but it does look pretty convincing.

    • @juggyy5429
      @juggyy5429 9 днів тому

      @sterntechdaddy Right from the product sheet "FSC-certified walnut or oak panels" you got a dud my friend, or the wood maybe just felt like plastic to your touch.

    • @sterntechdaddy
      @sterntechdaddy 9 днів тому

      Yup. My bad. Just shows how much I care about wooden features on a PC case. 🤣😂 The front panel overwhelmingly feels like its made of plastic and I didn't really examine the wooden rod bits very closely. All the effort Fractal has made is wasted on me. To be fair, my customer wanted this case as they liked the look of it. And it does look nice. I supposes it's easier the make something that looks like wood by using actual wood rather than trying to fake it by using something else. 😜

    Thanks for the video, would you say the Argb cable is long enough to reach the bottom of the motherboard (if routed behind in the rats nest?) All my headers are at the bottom of my moboi annoyingly. strange design.

    • @sterntechdaddy
      @sterntechdaddy 12 днів тому

      Meh. I can't measure the cables as the cooler in the video is for a customer PC - which has now been delivered. So that's triggered me as it would've been nice to have included it! But... I'll try and help... An aRGB extension cable will be cleaner as that will definitely let you run the aRGB cables to the bottom headers from around thew back of the board for any ATX sized motherboard. You might need a splitter anyway if you've got other aRGB cables to plug in and that will act like an extension. For mATX the cables might reach without an extension. If you're not too fussy about visible cables then the aRGB should reach the bottom headers for any size motherboard if you run the cables over the front of the board. What motherboard have you got? I've got a few ideas... 😁

      @@sterntechdaddy The X870 MSI tomahawk, Not built my new PC yet as waiting on my 9800x3d. Don't particularly want any cables over the front, not because of aesthetics, but just because I have had cables before get caught on GPU fans etc. so always want them tucked away if possible. I did find out I have an MSI cable thing next to the 24 pin that allows an ARG header to be plugged into it, so could use that, but was going to plug an RGB 24pin 90 degree adapter in. So would need a splitter anyway if I wanted both in that header.

    • @sterntechdaddy
      @sterntechdaddy 11 днів тому

      I've checked the manual... the connector by the ATX power is proprietary... it's meant for MSI accessories and AiO devices and it looks like you need the JAF_2 extension cable. I think thier Aio coolers come with it and it probably isn't included with the motherboard. I wouldn't like to play around with trying to wire things in without it. So I'd get an aRGB extension cable and use the aRGB headers along the bottom of the board. Note that each header is treated as a separate entity by OpenRGB so for micro managing the LED's it might be more fun to get three extension cables and wire things in to get logical areas defined nicely.

    • @Dreadpirateflappy
      @Dreadpirateflappy 10 днів тому

      @@sterntechdaddy A jaf-2 cable with 3 way splitter comes in the box with a connector for Argb, a fan header and something else that I can't remember. It's just a bit of a pain all the headers come at the bottom, all my previous motherboards have had them a bit more scattered, I will make it work somehow. thanks for your help :) OPn a sidenote I got my phantom spirit evo this morning to replace my old D15, partly based on this review can't wait to actually build it all and give it a whirl. My Noctua has served me wwell for 8 years, but just a tad too big now for my case and I never liked the colours.

    • @sterntechdaddy
      @sterntechdaddy 11 днів тому

      You'll need to compare the cost... but they look to be about the same price for me. The board you buy now will probably need a BIOS update. Both of these boards have a nice little BIOS update button so that should be very easy to do without having to have a compatible CPU fitted before the new one goes in. They both have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth... and as they both use the same chipset everything else will pretty much be the same too. You might get a slow boot while DDR5 RAM retrains - this is fixed by changing one setting an MSI board I used recently... this is probably the same for the Gigabyte one though. They both have 3 x M.2 slots - but the Gigabyte has covers for all three. The MSI leaves one without a heatsink. I just think the Gigabyte looks nicer than the MSI... I'm not keen on the military theme and the armor plate style details don't look great to me. The Gigabyte looks more like a proper motherboard and less Nerf - if you see what I mean. In my experience, teenage boys tend to like the MSI military look - but I'm not a fan of it. It's actually a difficult choice! I'd get the Gigabyte if you're forcing me though. 😊

    Can you conntrol fans seperatly, I mean can you put 3 fans on 600rpms and other 3 on 1000rpms using one argb device and one 4 pin connector to motherboard. If yes are those speeds controled by 4 pin connector or argb cable on motherboard, I have simillar device, and i plug it to sata power, plug my 5 fans to the controller and connect 4 pin connector which have only 2 wieres in it, ground and pwm, to the motherboard. I cant connect argb cable because my motherboard has only JRGB, but i can controll rgb with controller and have 2 fan speeds only on controller. When i enter bios rpms of those 5 fans doesnt show, or when i open fan controll app it says 0rpms. But fans spin, i cant control them which sucks, rn i have spliter on 2 ports of motherboard, one is for 2 fans for intake otherone is 2 fans for exhaust, the fan on the back of the case is plugged in controller and only spins while the controller is plugged in sata power, also in that controller are pluged 3 front fans that allways spins on same rpm and i cant see what rpms are or change them. Any help would be great. So 3 fans on the front and 1 on the back, are connected to controller and allways spins without knowing rpms or any info of them. The 2 fans under the graphic card (intake) is connected to motherboard with 4pin spliter and fully optimisable also synced with graphic card for less noise The 2 fans at the top of the case (exhaust) is connected to motherboard also with 4pin spliter and fully optimisable and also synced with graphic card for less noise. When im not playing games bottom 2 and upper 2 doesnt spin which is okay, but i want to adjust speed of 4 fans that are plugged to controller, and dont know how.

    • @sterntechdaddy
      @sterntechdaddy 13 днів тому

      Short answer is yes. If you’re using Lian Li fans connected to a Lian Li controller. 🙂 L-Connect 3 let’s you control the fan speeds and the LEDs. But doesn’t sync other LED devices so if your RAM and motherboard have LEDs on them it’s best to turn off the motherboard sync in L-Connect 3 and use OpenRGB if you want everything to match. L-Connect 3 does let you control the LED regions of the fans individually though. Fan speeds are adjustable and you can set fan curves for fans on each individual port on the controller.

Every single bios version I've tried on it doesn't fix my specific issue, which is that even with context restore disabled, my system is unstable and blue screens. Great video. This is still a problem in late 2024. HP needs to catch a lawsuit about this garbage. I went ahead and booted into a Linux distro from a USB drive and deleted the HP files in Windows\System32\Driverstore\Filerepository - that stopped it finally, but you also had some great tips I hadn't thought of, like manually deleting the registry entries then using C-cleaner to sweep up the mess. I backed up my registry then did both of those.

    Loved you video! Great review! Just wanted to add that, because of the positive pressure made by the front fans, the upper radiator probably won’t have much access to fresh air from behind the case. I still believe that having an exhaust fan placed there would give you better temps, as it would help dissipate from inside the case all heat generated by the GPU. As it is, most of it will find its way through the radiator. Might be something interesting and easy to test 😉

    • @sterntechdaddy
      @sterntechdaddy 21 день тому

      I tend to think not having a rear exhaust looks nicer as the IO shroud LEDs aren’t obstructed so it’s more a visual think rather than cooling. But it’s Definitely something to test… the positive pressure will be linked to fan speed. Maybe speeds can be tweaked to encourage rear air to be drawn in. Which opens up a whole new discussion. I think I’ll get some incense sticks… 😂

      I installed Tiny10, all worked. I had to install the Windows 8 audio driver as the BIOS on my system is X205TAW, not the X205TA, so I couldn't use the update for the BIOS. Other than that all good, thanks, useful video!

    hmm wondering what speakers you use ... i'm asking because i use an old klipsch promedia 2.1 set up (one of the older ones from before klipsch started lowering their power output) . it doesn't have seperate channels for the l/r speker it just has the one output plug from the control module to your sound card. now my issue is when i run a test in the soundblaster software , it doesn't seperate left and right like it should it just plays all audio test from both satilite speakers equally. aned no sound from teh sub durring test (though the sub does produce noise on regular listening and games). i've tried seting it from 2.1 to 5.1 , to stereo .. and there's no difference it doesn't discriminate when doing left and right speaker test.

      I have a pair of Creative Gigaworks T20 Series II speakers. uk.creative.com/p/speakers/gigaworks-t20-series-ii They have a 3.5mm jack to the sound card. Note that these speakers are technically 2.0 as they don't have a separate subwoofer. They do have a tweeter in each cabinet in addition to the main speaker though - as you can see on the link above. They sound brilliant. I actually got fed up with switching outputs between the speakers and headset using software. I bought a Steel Series headset that's also got 3.5mm plugs on it rather than a USB model and it was irritating to have to keep jumping into SBCommand to swap between them - especially seeing as the card clicks each time. 🤣😂 SBCommand also kept selecting 5.1 when switching between them So I use a little NM-STS21 switch. This one... www.amazon.co.uk/STEREO-Manual-Speaker-selector-available/dp/B073GWCRP3?th=1 Now the AE-5 output can be sent to speakers and headphones without using direct mode and without 5.1 jumping in and breaking the sound. It's VERY handy... But it is available from other places. :)

      Install just Win11. Even if your CPU and TPM situation means that the installer halts, you can create a USB that skips the checks using Rufus and install it anyway.

    Welcome to the family! It's a fabolous case. 10 months after purchase I'm happy with mine. It's gorgeous, has excellent airflow, doesn't scuff easily and it a joy for removing and adding parts. I would add an exhaust fan at the back. I have and even with two exhaust fans up top, there's way more toasty and fast air exiting through the rear.

Looking to replace my ASUS TUF GT301 with the Phanteks XT Pro Ultra, as the deal with 4 included 140mm fans for $80 sounds really good. I use OpenRGB, generally. But really fine tuning what each LED does depends upon who made the ARGB device.
