The Splinter Cell: Blacklist Experience
Love your work as always! The Orphanage level in the bg was just chef’s kiss! True SvM had such amazing atmospheric levels. At the IGN Black Beta event in 2013 for Blacklist I was legit the only one playing on the PS3 among the ones that had single player setup on it. Everyone else was getting drunk and just slashing each other in COD SvM. I’m in their video as the guy in the jacket who says I prefer to slip by the guards 😂
Just saw the video. Love the answer haha
gg!
BRILLIANT
Yes! i know it’s late but this is the reason Sekiro is much better in parrying THAN MOST SOULSBORNEKIRO. How the fuck can I parry a barrage of attacks in that parry windows (LiesofP)
Great to see so many people playing again!
Thank you so much for the work you put into this.
🤣🤣🤣 man this game was amazing I want to play again so bad but my friends are to lazy and I don’t have pc
Always looking for games and it appears to be more populated than it was a few years ago.
YEESSSSSS!!! Preach brotha
Dude this video is so good! I wish they had people like you on the team then we would for sure be in good hands
I praise the creators of Lies of P. That game was my first ever Souls-like experience and loved every piece of it. Felt so good after I got good in Perfect Blocking (Parrying). Finishing Sekiro now and while I still found it hard and challenging, I would have never even attempted it without playing LoP. Also Elden Ring Platinum is in the bag between the two games.
Sekiro parry feels more natural. like imagine yourself as Wolf, you should react and start lifting your sword before attack reaches you. But Lies of P parry seems pretty hard to hit (I'm assuming Lies of P is not that forgiving about parry timing)
Hello darkness and my old friend.
I used to watch your videos when i was in high school, i discovered you around nine years ago and we even chatted a bit on a few of your livestreams, it's nice to see you're still posting By the way, did you delist the "Chaos Theory is Fun" video? that sh*t was funny as f*ck. Actually a lot of your videos have disappeared, i swear your Blacklist Sam impression used to make me rofl
A lot has happened in the five year hiatus I took and I felt my old content doesn't represent what I want the channel to be anymore if that makes sense. Although it seems a lot of people's favorite was that one you mentioned.
@ Taking a look at your channel i suspected this was the case, it's kind of sad to see them go, since they were very fun and rewatchable, but sometimes you just have to let go of content that doesn't really fit your direction anymore. I like this new, more focused direction, really hope to see more in the future if you have more to talk about. Also towards the end of the Splinter Cell Remake video you made a very fitting analogy for the series, about trying to be the best you and not someone else, i could kind of tell from that and from your new overall tone that something happened over the years and that your life changed for the better in some way, it was nice to hear.
noice!
Missed you
<->_<->
At this point. Fooling around with the older SC games is probably the best choice.
Whatcha mean?
@EddieTheBunny I don't think the remake will be any good. The Splinter Cell remake thingy.
welcome back king
The return of the king!
The best bad player has returned indeed!
1:56 - bro be too skilled🤣
Game: “You’ve been kicked from the match” Me: It’s just like the good old days 🥹
Went from LOP to Sekiro and just instatly mastered the parrying
I left a comment about comparing Elden Ring's Deflecting Hardtear to Lies of P, can you do a comparison like this too?
what I don't understand is why in lies of p you both have to time the parry button press AND hold it down. I was tapping it for the first half of my first playthrough and failing a lot, then I started holding it for a brief moment and it parried a lot better. but COME ON NEOWIZ don't require a HOLD for a precise TIMING that doesn't make sense. You sort of have to hold it so that when the strike lands your block animation finishes. but don't make your game like that please neowiz it's shit.
If they could have just made the parry window bigger like sekiro the game would be way better
@@DutchPlanDerLindeFromTahiti Perhaps… but I insist Lies of P has the best timing.
What people miss about these types of games is the grind...you have to level up constantly which takes up a lot of time. Once you're overpowered, then non of these problems he's describing can alter you. I enjoy souls like games and just leveling up is a mini game that i do just to wind down after work. The game is fun..just different
The biggest problem is if it will sell well. Ubisoft said they had the data that says not many people like playing stealth games, gamers now a days like playing panther or assault so pure stealth mechanics arent popular. As much as I want a pure stealth game where I memorize patrols, no knocking out enemies or trigerring alarms I also want the game to sell well so it's probably better if they bring back ghost/panther/assault again.
Literally coming from Sekiro to Lies of P right now. This just saved me a lot of frustration. Thank you!
the parry window of sekiro drops with each cosecutive parry right? does the same happen in lies of p?
@@sussyiee In Sekiro, the parry window will drop if you are spamming the block/deflect button which is why it’s better to learn the exact timing of the attacks because then you won’t lose deflect frames. Lies of P has been said to require the player to hold the block button because releasing it will make P lower his guard mid animation making him have less parry frames. This could be why some might think frames are lowered but they aren’t.
This is what I’ve been trying to tell some people.
Thanks bro, recently I finally bought Lies of P in steam (before this I played in gamepass) and I completely forgot how to parry properly
sekiro deflect timing is better design because it is extremely hard, but not because of the mechanic itself, but because of the boss AI, unlike lies of pi, which is honestly (imo) a subpar game made from artificial difficulty. relatively easy too, you just need to understand how it works (which isnt really worth it)
lies of p actually made me way better at sekiro too lmao
There really is a large group of people out there that have no idea what they are talking about.
sekiro parry timing is just worse and more forgiving, and this is saying coming from jedi surviror and jedi fallen order played on hardest difficulty. Man the parry window there is tight as hell, and you only have to parry when the hit actually lands, and not before like in sekiro
You can farm the Spikehead enemy in the Bellroom Vestige so early in the game so quickly that Vigor costs in the game don't matter. Boss Vigor drops don't matter. Item costs don't matter. Farm the Spikehead. I get it. This game isn't a Fromsoft game and Fromsoft makes some good games. Kinda weird how its just a checklist of things that aren't in Elden Ring and a few technical issues only you experienced. The game isn't perfect and there are definitely problems (Even Elden Ring has problems), but it isn't really the "cool" thing to hate on Lords of the Fallen anymore. It's been patched pretty good now. That doesn't mean everyone has to like it, but there are some nuances that may assuage some moot points with a bit more research.
You commented at a great time. I'd be happy to argue this. Grinding/Farming isn't good design. I want to play a game and progress regularly like you normally do in these kind of games. Boss Vigor drops matter, item costs do matter. Just because you excuse getting ripped off doesn't mean it isn't an issue. If the game is designed to mimic Souls games, then mimic them or do them better. LoTF does nearly everything worse. You can look at it as a checklist if you want but it's weird how a game is advertised to appeal to Souls players and when it's a worse version of a Souls game, I'm supposed to forgive it when it does something worse. I'm not really sure where you're pulling Elden Ring from. I didn't mention Elden Ring anywhere. The game has plenty of problems... and again... I don't know why you're mentioning Elden Ring. I'm good on the research part, I did enough. Half the game I was doing some research because it had it's own strange way of doing something just for the sake of being different even if the game more annoying to play. I said it's fine if you like the game, but my points are absolutely valid and non of them stem from Elden Ring. I'm not sure why you brought it up so much. Lies of P does things better than From Software does. I could compare it to Lies of P and Lies of P would unquestionably come out on top. I'm not a newbie to these games, I've played Souls games for 10+ years. I didn't come from Elden Ring which seems to be what you're implying. I'd suggest comparing this to the fundamentals of Souls games rather than the one that became the most popular.
@EddieTheBunny Thanks for the confirmation that you're comparing it to Fromsoft's project. Your points are valid to your experience. I had no input issues with the controls and did not participate in multiplayer until they fixed it. Farming is present in Dark Souls 1 and farming the Parish for souls and Titanite before Gargoyles was in the game. You don't have to do that in Dark Souls, you don't have to in Lords of the Fallen. Moot point. Doesn't matter if its Elden Ring or Lies of P being used for comparison. My main argument against you exactly that your video is just a comparison to Fromsoft RPGs eg Elden Ring and co. I simply didn't have the issues that you had and thus I disagree on the basis that outside of technical issues (just input problems you had), it is a list of nitpicks on the basis that the game isn't an Elden Ring adjacent game. Not the most objective perspective, however it is your opinion to have and I respect you 100%. Lords' release was terrible and for many that is unforgivable. People who love this game need to know its flaws as well. Edit: Lies of P has no multiplayer. Disagree 100% there. For many that means it has no purpose as Demons Souls even had multiplayer.
@@Markytous I don't think there needed to be a confirmation on that. It's quite blatantly a souls game and is advertised as a souls game and sold to Souls game fans. I didn't say farming wasn't possible in Dark Souls 1. The expectation that you need to farm to progress is the part where its bad design. Every time I struggled with this game, the first solution everyone gave was to grind. Other Souls games including Lies of P(The one that's not FromSoft and did it right and in a lot of cases better) you do not need to farm because the game is designed perfectly around leveling up naturally. You can say you don't have to do this in Lords of the Fallen and while that's true technically, everyone I encountered or watched for help uses the exact same tactic, magic coated weapons. I saw zero variety. Everyone used the same thing which indicates there is some sort of issue. Yes, it absolutely is a comparison to other Souls games because the game itself is a Souls game. Am I supposed to compare it to Tetris? Call of Duty? Mario? It is a particular type of game created for particular individuals that play a particular game. One game improved the formula(Lies of P) and one added unnecessary changes that made the game artificially harder(Lords of the Fallen). I'd really stop mentioning Elden Ring because I have my own gripes with that game as well including inputs not registering on Xbox One, frame drops on PC, absurd damage from bosses, bigger deadzones and stun locks that only make the game more frustrating to play. I don't hate Elden Ring but it's not as polished as it could be. Elden Ring is not the gold standard. I'm comparing what both Lies of P and From Software do in both their games. If only one side does one thing, I don't compare them because you can't do a comparison when the element is only present on one side. Lies of P has no multiplayer so I can't compare multiplayer. I can however compare the quest navigation, deadzones, level progression, healing mechanic, dodge mechanic, parry mechanic(particularly with Sekiro), the fact that Lies of P objectively has less stun locks, less delayed attacks(This one being bad or good is subjective I'll grant), combat fluidity, critical attacks, customization, etc.. Lies of P fixed a lot of what From Software should've fixed awhile ago. Lords of the Fallen managed to make the formula worse again(Even though the developers aren't the same as the 2014 release). I stand by everything in this video, I don't believe they're nitpicks because the devs went into the game itself and changed these things so if these things aren't a big deal then why change them? Don't fix what isn't broken. The Dev's main reason for implementing the Umbral realm was because the new engine allowed them to do so. They ignored the good old saying "Just because you can doesn't mean you should". This game would have been much better without the clunky lamp mechanic. Lords of the Fallen quite literally is bogged down by trying to fix what wasn't broken(Aside from armor customization and the control scheme being the best of any Souls game).
@EddieTheBunny Wait you're experiencing dropped inputs on Elden Ring too? Fix/replace your hardware. It is inspired by Dark Souls. Lies of P is well. The term is Souls-like but that's simply semantics. Anecdotally, I never used a build that buffs a weapon with magic in any of my numerous playthroughs in Lords of the Fallen. Its probably meta but I never cared what other players are doing. As I said, I respect your opinion of not liking the game. You don't have to like the game but some of your gripes wouldn't even exist if the game had "Dark Souls" as the title. I didn't check but I think an Elden Ring critique video would unanimously be well received. The DLC was hit or miss and starting a discussion on that would be interesting.
@@Markytous Only on Xbox One X. Inputs work well on PC, I also think it's a hardware issue because Elden Ring is a 2022 game trying to run on an 8th gen console. Well "Soulslike" is only called "Soulslike" because it wasn't made by the original devs of the formula. The game fundamentally is the same which is why I often refuse to use the term "Soulslike". And a lot of my gripes would still exist too. Points 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11 would still be in the video if Dark Souls never existed because I don't need a comparison or reference for those, they are simply done poorly. I critique Elden Ring a ton and I'm met with the most toxic non responses(such as the person that commented just before you) from people that probably aren't even good at the game. I thought about doing an overall From Software improvements rather than Elden Ring alone as I have some issues with all games. The least amount of issues with Dark Souls 3. Could still happen.
another reason why the parry timing is off for you is because not only do you play on a controller and not a mouse, but its also wireless. I saw the difference instantly when i played sekiro on my xbox vs my pc, its not even close, the latency is huge on console in general
Think you just might be trash at video games 😂😂
Bro be ragequitting. Alian isolayshon should have quick saves. smh
LOL Yup. I just can't seem to enjoy many things lately.
did you delete your old videos from 2013 or something?
No, but the channel is currently having an identity crisis.
@@EddieTheBunny why cuz your channel is mostly known for talking about why blacklist is bad?
"you can knock out everyone and its called ghosting, that is not ghosting" It 100% is thats how it worked in splinter cell 2005 thats how it worked in chaos theory what are you on about? just cause YOU like to play with no knock outs or zero interaction with the units doesnt mean WE ALL DO. you can and I do offten. 100% chaos theory by knocking out every human being in the area. what matters is DID THEY SEE the boddy or you. if not guess what? you ghosted.
Why did he get in front of you lol
It’s souls like dark fantasy, not for everyone but people who’re into it love it
I love the style of it. Absolutely love it. It's the mechanics and enemy spam that ruined it for me. Hopefully the second one fixes everything.
