Ever wanted to understand projection and film? Look no further! See my videos about 70mm, 35mm, 16mm and digital projectors and how to use them! Also see my many film related projects and my passion for film photography and videography. For years I was the Head Projectionist of the projection booth at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, of the club Lens and Lights. There is where I learned and taught how to use the many projectors such as the Norelco DP70 (AAII), EIKI EX-4000P, and the Christie CP2210.
Knives Out Filming Location Today (2024) - Medical Examiner
I used to live near an important filming location of Rian Johnson's Knives Out (2019) in Marlborough MA, specifically where the "Medical Examiners" office was filmed. In the scene, the characters discover that this building containing important evidence in the Knives Out plot has burned down, and here we had 3 infamous actors/actresses all filmed on location (Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas). We can see the remanence of this location, with the trees recently chopped down I am assuming this abandoned DMV will be completely bulldozed in the coming months, so I made this short video to document its current state and I tried to weave some of the actual movie in to get a better look.

My Film Freezer
Переглядів 4976 місяців тому
My cute film freezer is full of 35mm film, 120 film, and motion picture film, with plenty of new and old Fuji Film and Kodak rolls, many of which hard to find or flat out discontinued. Watch and learn why I have all these films (I am a hoarder), and my thoughts and opinions along with photos I have scanned as examples over the years. Hopefully its a relaxing video for you to enjoy my voice crac...
Greatest Film Printer of All Time | Ilford 2240RC

Why did Ben and I get a Film Photography Lab paper print processor (Ilford 2240RC)? How did we get it working? Or why did we turn his kitchen into a 35mm Film Photography darkroom? I honestly have no clue, but I invite you to experience all the pain and regret with me. We discovered an old Ilford black and white print film processor that was being given away, and decided to drive 3 states away ...
How 35mm Film Works
Переглядів 2,3 тис.Рік тому
Oppenheimer was filmed on 70mm IMAX, 70mm, and 35mm Film, which is basically just Jell-O with some sprinkles. Taking a simple photo with your own film camera also works the same. In this video I explain how film works with 70mm/35mm film in detail of how a simple piece of plastic, coated in gelatin and Silver Halide, allows us to create photos and videos, such as Oppenheimer like I discussed in...

Çok ilginç Böle bir makinam olsun isterdim.
OK.
Seeing interstellar re-release in 70mm IMAX!!!!
Awesome fun. Love the film mechanical sounds
Gelatin, not gelitain.
My friend has a DP70 in his booth. Its not running tho. He's been working on it for years now. He has a 35mm as well, but i'd love to see the DP70 running. thanks for showing yours
That’s awesome! Where’s he located?
@@KyleMiko in Toronto (kingsway cinema)
@@Designsbyg ah very nice!
Why is the audio visible here?
Great question! There was no “Aperture Plate”, that is that there was no mask installed to block the parts of the frame that should not be shown.
It’s wild, that place is no longer there already, 9 days after you posted this. You made it just in time!
Did it really get torn down!?
Hi sir I want to print logo and images on 35mm film To prepare slides in projector for logo projection Can you suggest me what are the printer and films required for this?
There isn’t a real good way to do this inexpensively, unless you take photos with slide film. Get a film camera and a roll of 35mm Ektachrome and take photos of your logo, and send them to a lab to get E6 processed. And now you will have slides
Thank you for your valuable suggestion
no escape poster nice lol
When is the last time you checked oil filter and changed the oil?
Those are pad rollers not shoes and your projector needs some maintenance. The pad rollers should lock open. When did you Las check the oil filter and change the oil.
Cool spot!
They should bring the DMV back
I can’t imagine it could handle much? It’s incredibly small. I do wonder why it’s so circular
Glass Onion wasn’t bad.
It wasn't bad but it was nothing like the first
@@KyleMiko yep
That’s….quite loud
Unfortunately, we only have one of these theaters in India and that is from a Science City, located in the city of Ahmedabad...... I know it sounds cool, but doesn't play the LATEST movies like Oppenheimer, only the documentaries. Sad to see that us Indians cannot experience the latest IMAX movies, in a true 70mm IMAX format... 😞
That is very unfortunate, I’m sorry to hear. I bet the documentaries at least looks stunning.
@@KyleMiko India could have a 70mm IMAX theater that runs true and latest IMAX movies, very very soon....
If youre feeling adventurous you could try to import some ENC-2 Fujifilm from 'mrnegative au'. Used to be able to buy some Fuji 160T and Fuji Reala F-125 in North America but its dried up in the last couple months. Also im worried about Superia 400 as i have read that it fogs quicker compared to other 400 speed film. Would be curious to see how its been holding up in my freezer too.
Interesting! I had no idea about the superia and fogging, I’ll be sure to keep an eye out. And I actually did manage to aquire some reala F-125 and 160T recently, I’m excited to try it out but not very hopeful, I hear the rem jet on Fuji does not hold up well to time
Ouch
Great video. Do you have to wear a mask in the room at all times? Is it due to humidity emanating from the mouth and nose?
Thanks! And no, when this was recorded in 2020 the university required the mask even if nobody else was in the room :/
EXCELLENT JOB
Thanks!
Why the mask? Distracting
Unfortunately at the time of recording the university required masks :/
Do you mean that audio is encrypted on the reel itself in the form of audio waves
There isn’t any real encryption here, the analog optical audio is just sound moving a diaphragm with a light shining through and then the reverse is done when played. The digital Dolby Digital is a proprietary 76x76 fixel data block that has audio encoded in a form of AC3
This device probably scratches the surface of the film well? Это устройство наверное хорошо царапает поверхность фильма?
nice
Anybody recognize the movie on the 35mm strip?
thought: make the scale to fit 8mm film
Would you be willing to sell this?
The scanner honestly has a lot of problems, it’s massive and heavy, and vibrates a lot in its current setup. I’m not sure you want it 😂
@@KyleMiko I really do want to buy it haha
@@TibronFilmwe can talk, my email is on the about section of my channel
What the fuck is going on:))
Years ago I ran AAII’s like those at a 4-plex during the day (set up for 35mm) and a more “normal” projector (Simplex) at a drive-in during the night. Those AAII’s were so big and roomy. When I went to lace up the smaller projectors, it felt like I was wearing baseball gloves.
I would give my left nut for a few more rolls of Fuji superia right now
Anything you guys think I should add or remove? Maybe some 16mm soon…
Looks like a splice let go and tripped the film buckle switch. Good to see it’s still there and working. 70 mm mag it’s really fragile compared to the newer film
At 4:37, scope has had several different aspect ratios which annoyingly are rounded variously up and down. So it’s not just 2.39:1, it’s been 2.35:1, 2.40:1. See the “Aspect ratio (image)” article on English Wikipedia.
Really wish the theatre would advertise the size of film the movie is being projected on, if I knew they were showing 70mm prints I’d be more interested in going.
Uuuu
I'm glad to see people are doing photography as the way it was.... I have many happy memories working in the dark room with my enlarger when I was 13 in 1973..... These days I just find digital photography painting by numbers.... And rather boring....
Thanks for watching! I love using the dark room, I completely agree digital photography boring
I was a projectionist right at the end of film distribution. Miss that job all the time, it was a great feeling.
It does make me said how it faded away. At least you got to enjoy it before it ended
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!!

Hi Kyle, I like the 8/16/33 mm look. But is there cheap alternative? Getting the footage developed and digitized is hardly affordable if you want to shoot a full length analog film (and dont want to use pseudo-analog digital filter.)
Not janky at all. That “brilliant switch” (your sarcasm) is completely safe, but it’s not a switch, it’s a disconnect. And that plug is a NEMA standard plug, so I’m it sure why you’re calling it non-standard. Maybe you mean “not common in my limited experience” or “not found in my mom’s garage”. Maybe don’t make videos where your sensationalist hook is based solely on your lack of knowledge.
240v with a nice proper disconnect, seems legit- US electrician
Well you can tell someone's not an electrician
1v can be more deadly then 10,000v.. just FYI
