Yes it can be owned by the Colorado railroad museum
Can 463 be owned by the Colorado railroad museum
Can it or is it owned by the Colorado railroad museum
Beautiful bird!
Indeed! 🍻
Yo i live next to the station
Really? The same one in the video?
Sounds so good on the subwoofer on my computer speakers!
That’s a great idea. I should listen to this on a good sound system 🍻
That whistle sounds like it needs a tune up
The microphone on the camera is adjusting the sound due to how loud the whistle is. Trust me, it works really well 😂

Can I please have this on a loop, like maybe ten hours of chugga chugga, hoot hoot? 🙏😄🚂
I could do that. I’m sure others may enjoy it
My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🚋🚊🛤🚞🚝🚉🚈🚇🚅🚄🚃 especially steam locomotives 🚂 like 463. He says what he likes about it is its smaller size and high pitched whistle which makes it different from all the other steam locomotives on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. He also hopes that steam locomotive #497 is restored to operation soon and the line between Chama and Durango is rebuilt and used again as well as the line to Torrington and the Rio Grande Southern Railroad but he doesn't want that to be wishful thinking he wants it to be a reality! He hopes that the Denver & Rio Grande Western line to Santa Fe is restored and the line to Alamosa is either converted back to narrow gauge or a third rail is added so narrow gauge trains can run on it as well. He really believes that it would increase business in Durango & Silverton and the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroads and give the passengers a change of scenery.
It’s possible! I’m glad he enjoyed the video

Gazab. Excellent. mere bachpan ke din yaad Aagaye. This time I am Sixty Six years old & Living in Lucknow U.P. Thanks a lot to you Sir.
🍻thanks
Why they make these on narrow gauge railroad?
Because it was 120 years ago 🤷♂️
Love the old steam trains. I live in a small town and the railroad known as the clinchfield railroad. Which we had a steam train that CSX got it gone from it's right home and now is in museum in Ohio. The railroad is just about gone here in our town and I wish that the towns people would get together and bring our steam engine back home where it belongs. It's very sad
Understandable. At least there are people willing to keep these things running for others to experience
Having been fortunate enough to have travelled the world in search of steam railways I can easily say that the Cumbres & Toltec is, in my opinion, my favourite steam railway. The scenery, the railway engineering and the friendly railway staff are the best.
That’s awesome to hear. I plan to eventually go back to take a trip on this train
Beautiful scene
Thanks! 🙏
463 can now make 80km/h with better balanced drivers it can do 170 km/h. Left front wheel, add to counterweight 5 cm from wheel ring, 60g second wheel reduce 78g, 3rd wheel add 90g 4th reduse 67g. Right side add 75g reduce 87g add 69g reduce 89g

Que beleza de locomotiva! Muito bom o vídeo. Adorei.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🍻
What a grand good looig old engine.I cold watch this for hours. Thanks for for this crisp and beautifully shot clip. They are huge piston valves-I wonder if the engine originally had slide valves? I must do some research! :-)
To be honest I was just passing through this area of the country and saw they were about the leave. Spoke to someone that was worming there and they told me where to get a great shot of it leaving the station. I could also watch this for hours. Glad you enjoyed it🍻
No add
Okay 🍻
Out of curiosity, is the whistle on this locomotive original to it? Many of the other locomotives I have seen on the Cumbres and Toltec line have the Rio Grande "chime" whistle. I have ridden the Durango and Silverton line twice and the Georgetown Loop twice, but never got down to Antonito to ride this line. It is on the bucket list to do...
That is a good question. Maybe someone will chime in to verify. I’m would love to go back and actually ride this one day 🍻 How are those trips?
@@WW2Hangar The Durango and Silverton is a water grade and is mostly about the scenery. The Georgetown Loop is only about 6 miles but climbs about 900 feet. There is a very high bridge where the locomotive crawls over it at less than 10mph. You can feel the bridge shaking..they use Shays sometimes to pull maybe 6 gondolas or passenger cars. I want to ride the Cumbres line partly because of the 4% climb from Chama to the summit. Having walked or driven a lot of abandoned railbeds, it would be cool to experience it as it originally was.
That sounds amazing!
She was built to last! Sometimes feel I was born in wrong era.
She’s quite the machine!
And with the approaching Space Age, the old Steam Age hardiness must make a return. Until we figure out space elevators or antigravity or orbital tethers or stargates we ain't getting up there, but once we do we are going to need the old "Built to Last" design goals or else nobody will survive out there.
🍻
