I read a German account by Heinz Knoke, and how he had developed a strategy to always attack B-24s from the front because there were less machine guns at the front. I can't imagine being in a bomber with 4 planes strafing from the front
@ Aaron Beckmann He's a liar. Never trust memoirs. They're all self-serving. The head-on tactics were developed by Egon Mayer and a few others in JG 2 in 1942.
This a FW-190 damaging a 385th BG B-17 on 10/10/43 over Munster, Germany. The crew of B-17 shot down 7 planes before being shot down.
