Fermzilla Oxygen Free Dry Hopping
i video'd my first ever go at oxygen free dry hopping using the Fermzilla Gen3.2 and thought i'd share as a learning video.
I'm fermenting the Mangrove Jacks Pils recipe #6 at a pressure of around 15PSI and a temperature of 26 degrees C.
@ions/craft-series-brewery-pouch/products/pils-pouch-with-dry-hops
The SG should be less than 1.02 before dry hopping, and was at 1.0167 when i added the hops, so a little more fermentation to go i think to achieve a target gravity of 1.008.

What a waste of time. Why wouldn’t you use old railway sleepers which look so much better
what type of wood did you use?
Too much show for a simple dry
Class job! The neighbours must have been like wtf is this thing being craned in😂 Any updated video since?
@@ciaranduffin7673 thanks. The crane was a bit of an overkill for sure, but everything went to plan. I’ve now added a decking next to the hot tub and installed an outside TV to watch the football ⚽️
Love the EME bar towel.
I use citra and cascade for this beer i like and one of them sinks while the other floats. I have to pump co2 into the collection vessel just to get it out from under yeast and trub. It definitely makes a noticeable difference in the finished beer, but not everyone can just pump co2 like me.
I see they make one without a cylinder, is that what you have there. Cheers
Hi Mike - I've not seen the ones witout cylinders. I'm pretty sure mine has one.
Why was the valve to the collection jar open to begin with? Didn't you just lose a lot of beer?
he probably wanted the trub to fall in there.
Nice to see the REME flag 😁.
🟦🟨🟥
Can’t believe you did that over the regiment 😅
lol - technically it's a Corps not a Regiment. Arte et Marte
Did you do a separate trub dump before the dry hopping ? Getting my 55l Fermzilla tomorrow, pretty excited about it.
I have my very first batch of beer ever currently dry hopping in a 55l fermzilla. Dunno why his valve was already open, but I kept mine closed during fermentation. Added the hops an removed the oxygen the same time I transfered the wort. When sg hit 1.015 I opened the valve an let the hops float up. Beer will be ready in two days and clear after a week in the keg, assuming it makes it that long 😂😂. Pressure fermented a session ipa at 5psi and 72 degrees and cut weeks off the process. From grain to beer in a week instead of 3 or four. In a 5 gallon batch that collection jar is over half full of trub. The way he did it wastes a couple beers. Again, maybe he had a reason for already having the valve open, but if you only have one dry hop addition there's no reason to have it open during fermentation. And if you have more than one hop addition just use bags and magnets to drop in as needed. I won't be removing that collection vessel but once ever
Also just put a gas post on the bottom and a 35psi prv on top. No idea why he has two $20 posts on that collection bin. Gas post on bottom an pull the prv to purge. Co2 sinks so the prv needs to be on top.
@@richardcagle5475 I have the PRV and the gas post installed on the collection jar. My theory is that if I pressurize the jar to a notably higher pressure than the tank, the dry hops will be forced upwards into the tank. Then leave the valve open for trub and yeast to settle in the collection jar.

Crackin job lad although i can't believe some folk don't lay drainage first 🤷
Isn't the gravel he laid drainage? Genuine question as considering the same project myself.
I have the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus Tips I've learned (Mostly from Mr. JAMES HOFFMAN, thank you!) and tested to acquire the best espresso (so far): 1. Only dry beans (oily beans clog the espresso machine) 2. No dark roasted beans (they are burnt; usually to hide imperfections) 3. The best taste occurs between 4-14 days from the time they are roasted (this is "resting the coffee" because the beans have to off-gas CO2) 4. To avoid watery espresso, dial a low grind/fine size (1,2,3,4) and fresh beans (before 1 month of roast date), this produces a thicker espresso 5. Lowest grind setting for DeLonghi Dinamica Plus machine is at a "3" (because any lower/finer chokes the machine) Thus, my optimal espresso Latte (iced) configuration is: -Five beans 🫘 (strongest intensity), - small ☕️ or medium size ☕️☕️ cup, -with dry medium-roasted beans, that were -roasted about 1-2 weeks ago -Vanilla Syrup (2 pumps or 1 table spoon for every small shot of espresso) -Half & Half Cream *pour cream until espresso resembles golden camphor burl wood *Add ice
have you had any issues closing your butterfly valve? Just recently gotten one of these and during water testing had no issues, now that there is beer in there..... can't close it. Any tricks/tips?
I can't say I've had those issues - is there any crud or hops blocking the valve? or maybe the bolt is too tight? I know they are a bit stiff but I think that's a good thing. Hope you get it sorted soon.
What did you use to wrap around the edges while applying the epoxy? I want to keep the epoxy from getting everywhere.
Hey! You're losing a lot of head there!
Oi amigo ficou muito linda a mesa de tampinha eu adorei 😮
Thank You
Actually one of the best videos I’ve seen on dry hopping with the Fermzilla 👌🏻
Thanks so much 🙏. It was my first go at dry hopping and having looked for videos of how to do it thought I’d try to make one myself that was to the point and easy to follow. I’ve actually just dry hopped for the second time (not filmed) and would recommend NOT to release the pressure from the main FV before closing the valve and removing the yeast. This avoids mixing the settled yeast and seems to work better. Hope it helps. 👍🏻
What do you do about the fact the hops instantly settle out at the bottom of the collection container?
@@fredbepsis7635 most will float to the top, but if some stay behind you can bubble some CO2 through the bottom and that should dislodge them.
Amazing. How long are you're sleepers? I have the option of picking up some 1m ones from B&Q or ordering really long ones online but then I guess i'd need help moving them around?
Thanks 🙏 Sleepers were 2.4m and delivered to my drive by a local gardening company. I found them heavy but easy enough to move through to the back garden myself. Good luck 🤞
late to the party, but great video Lee.
Thank You
Are they just resting on the ground, or have you staked them ?,
Resting on the gravel I laid. The was going to then join them together and stake them to the ground but realised that I didn’t really need to do that.
What’s the difference between cappuccino and cappuccino +?
Cappuccino is a single espresso shot with an equal part of milk topped with maximum level of foam. The Cappuccino+ is a creamy cappuccino made with a shot of Doppio+. Doppio+ is more than a double espresso made with an extra quantity of coffee powder.
Thank you i will be doing this
Good Luck 👍🏻🍔
Do you not need to cement the sleepers in ?
not really neccessary in my opinion.
Do you want to come do mine 😂😂 so I need some gravel I’ve not got a clue
🤣
Hi. Great work, looks really good. Quick question on the decorative stone you laid. I see you just raked the top soil for levelling and put a weed barrier down and then the stone on top. Did you find there has been any sinking? I'm going to be doing something similar and I'm thinking I may have to lay a sub-base layer of hardcore or something similar before putting the gravel down or do you think straight on top of the soil worked ok for you? Thanks
It’s a good point you make. I suppose it depends on what you are using the area for, and how boggy the ground is in the first place. As I used mine just for the stone with not much weight to go on then that was sufficient for me. I’d suggest for anything heavy or ground susceptible to hold water that you add a sub base of hardcore at at least 50mm. Check out my other video Hot Tub Base UK which shows this process. Hope it helps and good luck.

Hi, realy cool table! How long did you wait to whipe off the grout? And did you do it just with water?
Use a damp sponge. I had a couple ready to go as they get dirty pretty quickly. Also have plenty of clean fresh water 💧 on hand. You can let the grout dry / set for a short period of time but there’s a compromise between too wet, and setting hard. Good luck
How do you mow the grass close to sleepers? Do you strim it??.
Hi Dave - Yes just use a strimmer.
a strip of 6 inch concrate with a good finish for your lawnmore wheels plus treat inside your sleepers again, then put strips of corrieboard against the inside .... wait for the next election plenty of posters around made from corrieboard blown down by the wind etc
How do you keep the beer line and the beer in the cylinder cool?
cheers mr REME got my coming this week can't wait lol
Labor omnia vincit 💪
Thanks man! Nicly done! I was looking for that by myself and as we can see even DeLonghin does not know what they sell...

Does the push fit come of the beer box tap ok ?
Yes, they are John Guest fitting so there is a little lip on the inside of the fitting which locks onto the pipe / beer box tap - just push that in to release.
Hi, how did you connect them?
Love it, and having nicked your idea am midway through doing my own, pretty excited about it actually! Have you sold or kept yours?
Hi Colette, thanks for your comment. Reluctantly I had to sell it as I needed the space. 😔 Best of luck with yours, I hope it turns out how you want it to. 👍🏻
Great help, thank you

im going to put the union jack on my acoustic guitar ( it belonged to my brother Jack he passed ) thanks for the tutorial
best of luck, that's a really nice thing to do with it.
Okay serioulsy... if you're going to g to all the trouble of putting gravel down for the beams to resty on, at least fill the edge between the turf and the beam with gravel, not soil. Yes, gravel makes it easier to level the beam, but it's secondary function is to lesson the soil contact, as gravel is obviously very good at draining water. So, if you're not putting fabric on the border side, and soil is touching the beam, then at least put gravel on the visible side so that lessons the beam's contact with soil!
I can’t seem to align where the joins meet :(
So do you have to use a torch to get the air bubbles out? I take it it's not flammable?..
You don't neccessarily need to use a blow torch to remove the resin bubbles, it all depends on how careful you mix and pour the resin.
My question is how you get that wood wrapped around the edge?
Wood Effect Trim: The wood effect trim is a UPVC Rosewood which I found to be easily shaped around the edging. This was the most problematic to fix which isn't covered in this video. After many failed attempts I settled on having to use 2 screws to secure it, and on the second table found it easier if this was fitted before applying the resin.
Hi what size timbers did ü use
2400mm x 100mm x 200mm
Why did you cut out a piece? Why not just put it down next to it? That way they would be an even height.
Because it would then sit too low around the rest of the border. 👍🏻
