Mental Health As A Construction Worker
It's time to have the conversation. Mens' mental health is a hard topic to get into, especially in the construction industry. We have been told that we shouldn't have feelings and that our only value is what we can produce. So when we get to a point in our lives where we should reach out, it can be very hard. I know because I've been there a dozen times. It's time to break the stigma. If you're struggling and stuck in the cycle, there's hope! Reach out, pray, fight!

How To Make / Install Splash Guards For Inside Miters.
Переглядів 10 тис.2 роки тому
When ever there is a valley in the roof and it's steep, you probably need a splash guard on your Gutters. There's two options, buy one from your local supplier, or make your own custom splash guard. In my eyes anything you can make rather then buy is a win. If you haven't noticed I'm sticking around here on UA-cam. The tips aren't stopping and the videos will stay dropping😆 If your not already ...

On this job I installed the Gutters a year earlier. And today I was back to redo them. They had hail come though 2 weeks after I installed them. So take a moment of silence for the homeowners wallet because if they would have waited the first time then they wouldn't have had to pay for a full install and a deductible. They would have just had to pay the deductible. I also give very helpful tips...

Gutter Job Walk Around. And Custom Cut Talk.
Milking the job
you need to change your name to one guy gutters...i am a one guy everything...my next project is a one piece 65 ft gutter on front and back of my barn...i am going to have to build a scaffolding though...scaffolds are my carpenter's helpers...
But you destroyed the drip edge
but what we do when they back nail the whole house gutters? not as smooth. i run into it ALL THE TIME
When you attach the elbow to the gutter drop, do you you make pilot holes first? What's the best when in drilling that? Thanks!
My downspouts are installed like this and it causes clogs at the downspout. Leaves get caught on the sharp part of the screws that were used to attach the elbow to the gutter opening. Anybody know of any alternate methods to install? I'm tiered of clearing clogs during rainstorms.
Are they the smaller downspouts 2x3? Rivets are a alternative
This is so helpful. Thank you so much.
Thanks, you just made me 600.00...LOL
Any video that you learn something new, is a good video. I learned something new today.
So many things wrong with this. Didn’t bevel your joint, fucked the drip edge, should’ve just replaced the whole board and instead of splicing it in. Definitely not a trade worker.
What sealant do you use?
Description dun say nothin about tires and trucks, these mfs love the sound of their own voices, these people are the types that will correct you on your grammar and waste an entire paper and pencil to explain one thing that can be explained in one paragraph.
God bless you
I'm needing this type of work. Would you recommend a carpenter, contractor or could a handy man handle these issues? Thanks for the share
this just totally blew my mind. I can def extrapolate this trick to like 100 different uses. Awesome man.
Great video. Is that a special screw that has a white cap?
Nice to see roofers are just as helpful south of the border!
How much does something like this usually run, needing maybe two full boards replaced
LOL Ya doesn't work just squirtin the stuff in there hahaha. I hate replacing those stupid box corners what a pain. My number 1 suggestion to anyone with those corners is to replace the gutters... but ya everyone wants to go cheap so I get stuck there for an hour per corner scraping out alllll the silicone and tar they jammed in there before i got there... Well I charge a pretty penny to do it! Sometimes as much as 100 bucks a corner ( That's canadian so like 5 dollars US). Haha but anyway yeah nice to see someone who has some idea what they're doing for once!
@markmcneil7040 helpful tip: a torch works perfect to make the caulking soft and it scrapes out easy as pie. I've had to replace a few and as much as I don't like to, it's a 15 minute job. Hope that makes your life a little easier in the future, cheers
@@averageconsumer8222 Yes I use a heat gun. But usually someone has gone and dumped and spread several layers of tar and caulking and spray shit a foot or so wide on each side of the corner, in which case it still takes a loooong time to scrape it all out and clean it up. That or they loaded it full of silicone which does not melt with heat. At least not with a heat gun, mine gets up to 1500 degrees F. Either way once there's like 4 layers of crap in there from 4 different people trying to fix the corner you're in for a long journey to repair it. 😖
@markmcneil7040 heat gun takes way too long. Try a torch. Keep the flame moving and don't let anything stay on fire. Sometimes heating the gutter itself helps too. Propane torch will melt aluminum if you stay in one spot for longer than a few seconds so keep it moving and let things heat up. Then use the same kind of technique they use to scrape rubber off slicks. I promise, this will change your life! You can still charge whatever you want just don't start any fires lol
You know what, I've always wanted to try a torch just never did. If for no other reason than it's cordless lol. And cordless heat guns are trash. Maybe I'll finally give it a try
@markmcneil7040 you'll never use a heat gun for that application ever again lol it's that much better
What to do if your gitter don't fit snug in the box miter
Just connect ends directly, without using Seamers? Thaks.
Can i ask what type of lumber you'd recommend for the sub fascia board? I'm using aluminum fascia and looks like nearly all pressure treated lumber will react with the aluminum. Thanks!
Shouldn’t the box miter go inside the straight pieces instead of the straight pieces being on top of the miter? If the miter is the high point, don’t you want the seam on bottom if that makes sense? Sort of what you do when overlapping tar paper on a roof???
Good info, but never install gutters with screws the leafs catch on them and eventually completely block the downspout, Use rivets work so much better.
Is this a joke? None of this was done correctly?
If you use good round outlets you won’t have that problem. Call Raytec.
You just butted the joints together?😮
What are the advantages of these over just folding the tabs on a gutter i know that's how we done it when i installed steel buildings looking to add a few downspouts to my home thanks
THANK YOU! My old tail watched, listened installed. This was exactly what I needed. I had noticed water seeping into a back hall. Could not figure out why. Finally got on a ladder and the gutter yokels had NOT installed the inside corner. Thanks to this video I am NOT so angry at the installers anymore. EXCEPT, that I am toooo old to be up there doing a job that should have already been done. AND, that had been paid for!
That's awesome! I'm proud of you for taking care of it!
I love how you removed the nail without damaging the gutter. Brilliant!
oh fuck yeah bud
YOU CANT HAVE A ZIP POKING OUT OF THE BOTTOM THATS A LEAK POINT EVEN WITH CAULK AROUND IT THE CUSTOMER HAS TO SEE HOW UNPROFESSIONAL YOU ARE WHEN THEY LOOK UP AND JUST SEE A SCREW POKING OUT THE BOTTOM THATS WILD
What size and type of screw do you use??
Merci :)
Excelent video.
You just gave me a great idea... The hell with the downspouts, just put on 2-3 ft. ext. and no more clogged gutters. Who cares what it looks like. It only has to work!
What do you mean
Very helpful walk through for us diy by necessity guys😊
I had to do a repair on my downspout and had no idea...this was very helpful. Thanks.
Love it
great in a perfect scenario how about the downspouts are two long? or two short?
Thanks for the video. Do you like the clips better than the straps?
how did you cut all these stuff?? the whole up at the gutter and down the end of the pipe?? thanks.
what do you use if you wanted your run at the end to go towards the closest corner so that run off goes in a different direction?
Should have showed a real corner install and trim of the template if need be. P.s in15 years ur back will hate you for having to bob and weave under the gutter to cut on other side of each outside
Invest in some lefty snips any gutter dude worth a damn has both probably some perpendicular snips as well for those pesky shave cuts on insides
Should put the two closest inside hangars five inches from the corner that way you can put splash guards screwed directly to the hangars on inside of the lip no visible screws no sealer needed and aren’t ridiculously tall that way.
Wrong backwards upside down inside out lefty righty righty lefty upsy downsy innie outtie me casa e su casa. J.k this is perfect or you could just use a b elbow and a wide mouth outlet or just not use ds at all just let it evaporate hahahahahaha
Thank you for sharing. Good word. Amen brother
I liked the idea of measuring horizonal then taking off the five inches.
How did you do the whole punch? please show
With all them tips, a tip for you would be to put your screws on the top of the maker so they are hidden it looks much cleaner
