This one was pretty difficult even since the switches are too sensitive to be opened without braking and the stabilizers are mediocre and cannot be hole-modded the conventional way 🥹🫠🫠. Still the best low profile keyboard in the market atm considering the build quality and perks, the switches are really nice to type on it’s crazy 😩😩🗣️.

Idk i just do, i find it fun and i always found it vague how most sound tests only press it a couple times and don’t showcase the status of the stabs so i let people know that my stabs are quality.

I only make $90-110 profit on commissions, nothing else, the rest is fees that do not go to me and I can’t control at the moment without my own website, when that happens prices will drop by about $20 across the board. What do you think a good price should be for my keyboards counting commission, shipping, etsy fees, labor + materials ect… just looking for constructive feedback since you evidently have a strong opinion on the matter. Let’s say someone orders a monsgeek m1 with Oil Kings and $30 dollar keycaps from Colorado, what do you think I should charge so that I make a reasonable profit considering everything I do to my keyboards( read the desc) and the fees etsy puts on me for using their platform to conduct business. Appreciate the feedback. 🫡🙏

Sometimes it is less for 5-6 plus hours of work.. Mind that I essentially make the keyboard as perfect as it can get, for the past year and half or so not a single of my keyboards have ticked on a spacebar, my stabilizers are that perfect. I gotta eat and pay rent in this godforsaken economy so I’d rather work a cushy corporate job if consumers demand I make $50-60 an per commission than to slave away hurting my back lubing thousands of switches and hole-modding stabs daily making keyboards for $10-15 dollars an hour. 😭😅 I understand that the market is flooded with cheap labor, but that does not need to be the standard specially when I provide premium quality on everything I ship it out, not a single stabilizer will ever tick or feel mushy if it comes from me. I’ll continue the grind and the market will decide whether to chew me out or keep me in the race.. It’s also how I am able to make so many keyboards and keep the channel growing 😩😩.

Correct, It's Noico. I don't try to hide the fact it's just too many people ask and it get's tiring answering everybody.. usually someone else does like yourself 😅.

You are correct, but sometimes the definition of perfect differs based on who is modding stabs. A good stab will always have a “come-up sound”, it’s how I know when a stab is inching closer to perfection, even if it’s with silent switche. In this case, the come up on the right shift makes that sound because the switch itself plus the stab is too smooth and it has a long spring so the come-up is super fast and crisp…it’s not easy to pinpoint exactly why, but I didn’t bother to fix it simply because I didn’t feel it or hear it as an actual problem that needed to be fixed since the stab felt really satisfying. You can’t exactly hear it in the sound test because it’s almost inaudible unless I put the mic on the stab, but all the stabs actually made that exact come up sound, it’s just that particular shift accentuated more for various reasons particular to that specific board and the stab used..

I don’t 😂. If I sped it up, the keyboard will sound high-pitched and I don’t want that. It’s just the fast hand movement plus 30fps makes it look that way .

All your boards sound great. I’m fine with whatever. Although if I had to give a preference, creamy/poppy/marbly is my favorite. I don’t like a super deep thock all the time, and sometimes the clackier sounds are a nice mixup.

That’s a fair point, I’ll try and change it a up a bit in the future to accommodate for different tastes. Remember that I run a shop and this UA-cam channel is somewhat of an archive for sound tests, I make builds practically everyday and sometimes they will sound similar due to the mods being the same, but that don’t mean things won’t evolve or change over time. Also, no switch is supposed to sound any type of way, it’s all personal preference in the hobby, some might prefer this over a high pitch, and others might prefer a high pitch over this. Anyways, valid point, I’ll be more experimental following the next couple months. Thanks for the feedback, I suggest people treat this channel as an archive of potential sound tests or a massive experiment rather than truth.

@@milkyboards the thing is with the mods you tend to put in your boards you basically eliminate any unique sound profile from the board and switches. All of your builds sound exactly the same, even when using a plastic board vs an aluminum board or a low pitched switch vs a high pitched switch. All the foam and the tape mod you use basically completely mutes every board you make. Theres no point in buying a variety of keyboards and switches if they all sound exactly the same. Building an board with xinhais and then making it as low pitched as possible is like hammering a nail with a screwdriver, you picked one of the highest pitched switches and then basically removed all of the uniqueness it has, making it extremely dull.

@@milkyboards Not really a thesis, took like 30 seconds. I just type fast. I've just been in the keyboard hobby for a long time so I have a lot of opinions on things.

I mostly make all the same mods atm. I don’t see a reason to do keyboards any differently since my method I think is fairly optimal and consistent in quality. So the mods itself are correct, just do your best 🫡📈. 3x tape mod, fe foam and some kind of foam that’s not too thick but not too light, don’t forget to lube correctly and work on them stabs 😤🫡.

It’s a decision to move into a more professional setting and culture. We decided the name Milky Boards sounded too quirky and niche so we decided to incorporate our branding in a more serious professional tone. Time will tell if it was the right decision 🫡😅.

I don’t know if that’s sarcasm but thanks 🙏 😅🫡. The price of this keyboard can range anywhere from $115 to $125 stock. When one factors in etsy fees and my commission fee then it jumps to $250 plus. I recommend the Feker Galaxy80 for an aluminum finish at a similar price if that’s your alley. In response to the tape mod use, ive used my main keyboard tape modded for about 2 years, and any of the keyboards I’ve done that I’ve tested for months have never shorted the PCB. My friend has had his daily driver for 3 years now and it’s never shorted the PCB as well. In the case the PCB shorts I take full accountability and offer full refunds. The tape mod is a staple in the keyboard hobby, and despite the GMK87 being a budget keyboard it’s surprisingly sturdy and well made, none of my GMK67s that I’ve used for months and made over 40 of have never shorted either. Probability is very minimal here, in which case, I take full responsibility for whatever malfunctions happen with my clients.

@@milkyboards yeah i think the US market for custom keyboard was insane, your commission fee is the same as the complete keyboard including switches and keycaps😅 like you know, with $250 you can get a real premium keyboard at the entry enthusiast level like TKD Cycle8, Neo80, TB8. you are smart in finding the market, good luck bro! never happened in the keyboard you made does not rule out the fact that tape mods have caused problem in pcbs which have been popular in several keyboard community forums. it is very good that you provide a guarantee when that happens but giving a proper explanation before it happens is not a bad idea either right?

Absolutely, so far in the last 2 years I’ve been doing this, not a single client has contacted me regarding a shorted PCB. It’s really that low of a probability which is why I don’t post it as a disclaimer on every description or listing. In the case the keyboard malfunctions, I provide full refunds or a complete free replacement. The chance of a shorted PCB is there however, but the tape mod is still a necessary mod, it’s like a car in America. The probability of crashing at any point is there, but you still have to commute to work to feed your family 😅. Also, yea the hobby is expensive, I lube every switch, hole-mod every stabilizer, use my own tools and ship the item for free. The commission fee at 100-110 barely is enough to earn $90-100 dollars every keyboard that is sold, which is roughly 20 dollars an hour since I take 5 hours on average recently to make my boards.

@@milkyboards come on bro, tape mod is not an obligation like working, unless the keyboard sound is that bad that it has to be tape modded:) but yeah back to you, I just want to tell the risks of tape mod to people who are new to this hobby. yes I agree this hobby is expensive but the bad news is now there are many prebuilt keyboards (already include switches and keycaps) that can sound thocky (sound like in the video) even without mods like wob crush80, mchose gx87, leobog hi75 which are much cheaper. many switches now have pre-lube with good quality so they don't need to be lubricated again (like the hmx xinhai you use in the video) so maybe it's better not to waste our time and money. but yeah keep up the spirit bro!

Not really, haven’t decided on anything yet.. I don’t like too clacky though, to the point it’s too high pitched.

I put it around it if it is in direct contact with the battery and I make sure it does not touch the battery. Ive worked with this method for a year already and nothing has ever happened to any of my keyboards when used wireless for months.
