How long would u have to run it for to start to see it coming from the radiator cap thing ?

It also does squirt out of that hole every now and then 😂 I’m doing everything in the video but starting to think I’ve done something wrong 😂

@bradleyfisher8933 Do you mean the expansion vessel with the dalek cap on rather than the fill bottle at the back hatch? I've never seen water come out of that when closed, it's possible there is something not right with the seal/valve in the cap, in the situation you talk about it's not under much pressure and pretty sure shouldn't leak? Tho not 100% as not sure what woukd happen in an over pressure situation. The point of getting the nose up is purely the remove any air from the system, if the nose had been up and running for a while, and there is water I the Rad then you should be good to drop the nose if that helps. I usually give the rubber pipes a squish to make sure full of water and no air too, will get hot be careful. It's does take a long time for the water to get hot enough to start pumping properly through the Rad. You have to idle for about 20 minutes or more and find for a while the water level just bobs up and down in the hole, I usually get bored and give it some light revs for a bit with a brick on the accelerator 😅. Will find with revs the water will flow much quicker and out the hole when hot so easier to see when full, but be careful it will squirt out quite quickly and starting to get hot at that point so might want to back revs off before fitting the Rad bung. When the engine is turned off and cooling down, if the expansion vessel is low on water it will draw water from the rear fill bottle. It might be worth checking after a day that's it's working properly. The expansion should be near as full, the fill bottle may have dropped. Hope that helps, best of luck 😊👍

I use a little cheap portable stick welder. I don’t have a tig. I get good results in terms of strength. The only downfall is a lot of cleaning up. There is a lot of splatter when arc (stick) welding.

@@pauls330 For steel, ive been welding with a co2 gas MIG set for decades and get reasonable results, though its totally worn out and I need a new one. Bought a couple of cheap stick welders for the battery reconditioning video..... still got to re visit that one..... but I can't get a decent weld and hard to start. Guess it's what you get good at, I'll stick with the MIG until won the lottery then TIG all the way baby! 😅👍

Ok but be careful those battery reconditioned videos are true. Batteries explode with welding plant connected to them. As I stated before fire aluminum welds you can get a cheap smal arc welding plant. For aluminum rods it takes a lot of practice and patience to get used to it. But once you find how to control your pressure by hand your good to go. Arc welding aluminum can achieve the same results as a tig but you will have the extra clean up of splatter. At the end of the day even if you use a tig and want perfect joints without the seams you still have to clean up anyway. So I stick to arc welding aluminum instead of spending extra money on a tig machine

@@PeoplesCar I've not done anything for a few months as had family stuff to deal with. But it's getting a start on next week. Engine coming out so I can get easier access to rear for welding. Also going to strip engine and clean it up with all new gaskets and seals

I don't want to name drop but a very high profile race engine builder I once visited basically said if driven sensibly and not abused at launch a stock box is good for 130 bhp. So if your gearbox is in good condition you will will fine. I abused a 1200 box daily with a 1776 on the end of it and never managed to break anything. Again if your engine is in sound condition and not blowing oil put everywhere, losing compression etc I don't think will have much of a problem. You could always look at freshening the engine with new rings etc if worried I guess but I don't think necessary. I suspect a mod like this is likely to highlight any weakness in your engine so probably not a good idea if suspect it has problems already. Always good to have decent brakes. First upgrade I recommend anyone does. I personally have Talbot calipers up front, 944 at the rear and a brake servo, you may have seen the vid I did a few weeks ago.....not taking any chances! 😅

I believe AMR500 range from 5-10 psi so no huge compared to other forced induction setups. In my head at least it shouldn't get any hotter than an engine producing increased HP, however there maybe more focused hot areas with forced induction. I don't believe any changes are made for additional cooling but as you say its relatively cool here. Here in the UK we have 95 E10 and 97-99 E5. I personally only run the E5 and would imagine the same is recommended for the AMR setup, but not 100%. Best of luck 😊👍

@@PeoplesCar so is no one actually running a boost guage and a stoich meter/wide band and tuning for this? They just bolt it on and trust that it’s gonna be ok? Seems a bit oversimplified.

I don't know anyone who actually runs one I only visited Mark to see his setup. I believe he had a guage on his car which he uses for tuning the setups, but as I understand it the carbs are setup depending on engine size, dizzy timing advance is locked, bolt on and go. But really would have to speak to Mark at KH as there may be more he recommends. 😊👍

@@PeoplesCar yeah a single Nikki. The cable or perhaps the throttle arm itself, can't remember how it connects exactly but remember how cold the carb was and I had to rub it warm to free it off. Thinking of getting a T2 so trying to remember what I've forgotten, plus lots I never knew! 😄

That's the good thing about old VW they aren't that complicated to relearn about and it seems easier the older I get, probably because combination of patience, understanding and the quick reference for gap sizes or advance settings from google & UA-cam! 😅 Best of luck with the T2, I used to dream of a slammed tin top, but never had the budget for one hence the T25's, but now I'm a 25 lover lol. @@ewanbent9028 Absolutely everyone to their own, why i live the VW scene cars as most are individual and different. I personally prefer some mods but hate others 😅. One thing keeping it stock, is it will ride nicely and be practical everywhere. Why I kept my T25 that way despite loving the look of my previous slammed one, this one is just so much more usable. I was helping someone fix their bug yesterday and he was moaning about scraping the ground all the time and his car isn't even all that low. 😅

@@PeoplesCar Thank you! I'm having a "sputtering and backfiring" issue on my '68 Ghia. I've checked timing, cleaned, filtered, and polished EVERYTHING... Im stumped! ...any advise?

Popping through the carb is usually timing, valves, air leak on inlet manifold/carb. Popping through exhaust usual air leak after gas leaves the engine. All get a bit complicated if you add a crappy carb or fuel pump into the same mix. It's a PITA but all you can do is try and eliminate one thing at a time. My friends was doing this yesterday. I reset his valve gaps, checked and re did the timing again, made sure wires all correct. Knew his dizzy and carb was good. Depending how bad the pop and misfire is, it's possible timing is 180 degrees out on dizzy, this engine was. Need to find TDC compression stroke on no1, and make sure the rotar is pointing to the correct lead! But doesn't sound that bad?? Also found he ha a duff plug with gap way too tight. Best of luck 😊👍

When we were noting the reg plates to stop filming duplicates over 2 days there were a few reg numbers very close in registration numbers. Yeah I did a single video on the Sunday from VW Action. It's the last video i have left to edit, going to start this weekend. Absolutely agree. This is just my advice for giving it a little pep for minimal money spent. Funnily I was using a single 34 on a 2.0 CU as an experiment. From what I could tell it didn't run lean with minor mods. If interested have a look at my T25 playlist 😊👍

@PeoplesCar well ld bought a stainless backbone and managed to snap an exhaust stud taking the old one off...ive just bought a mig tig welder as I suspect I'll b doing lots of welding starting with the snapped exhaust stud grrr...

@lornapowell2362 you might find if planning to weld a nut on the end of the damaged stud to remove it the heat will help release it. You have to be VERY careful tho, your heads are only Ali and likely to cause damage if not experienced with it and the stud is quite short. If can grab it with mull grips id try that first after soaking it with pen oil for a few days and heating it up to try and break the bond. I'm not sure what your working with but I've managed to grind 2 flats on sheared stuck out bolts etc in the past and then use a spanner to turn them out. Less risky than welding to it. JIMHO. I primed my bug 20 odd years ago with a HPLV electric setup. Basically a Vacuum cleaner in reverse 😅. Did a reasonable job but not sure I'd try it with car paint. Best of luck 😊👍

@@PeoplesCar in the end, ordering a new part was going to take too long since I want to hit the road this week. We Vanagon owners in Canada suffer from a lack of fast affordable parts. Especially in Halifax. So I borrowed your idea to use a coupling nut or union nut. I bought a new tap and die set, which I had never owned or used before. I cut new thread onto the remaining piece of original rod, then added new threaded rod. The most time-consuming thing was finding the metric parts -- took about 4 hours, looking at 8 different stores and running around. We're metric in Canada, except when it comes to hardware and construction. Finally found a spot that had metric, though not a coupling nut as long as yours! 😆 I will return to this fastener store whenever the need arises. Thanks, this video saved me time and money.

No problem? Glad I worked out for you. 😊👍 Mine still holding strong, but just be careful with cable length, I don't have much more adjustment to take out slack, luckily I don't need to atm at least. We're the opposite here, Fixing are all metric now but many builders still work in imperial, like myself most just switch to whichever is easiest on the day 😅. Best of luck 😊👍

No problem thanks for watching 😊👍 Got to say I think next year may have to be more selective in my filming I was literally filming for about 10+ hours with both the track access and show cars, and stood at the side of that track in the heat not able to leave for missing anything was a loooonng day! LOL. The new camera I think gives better results too but the way it works makes editing the footage so much harder and time intensive. Will have to see how the track footage does and maybe look to do something more challenging. Was thinking of follow a few racers for the weekend etc. Might be interesting 😊👍 BTW I feel bad about talking about money. You are one of only a couple of patreons, and always said I wouldn't beg for support. I mentioned money in the description of the bugjam 37 videos as was curious to know I letting people know how much time does into nmaking videos and how relatively small they return. @@thelittleredbarn174 I was actually using them in an experiment with petrol and white spirit in the ultrasonic cleaner and that sorted it no problem but obviously not what your likely to do. Most can be wiped out by hand once the piston is removed. Then a quick blast on the air line if have one will clear most. Then soak in degreaser, meths, white spirit etc and should get rest off. Pops are usually an air leak. If through the carb in the manifold before the head, and if popping through the exhaust usually after the head in the exhaust system somewhere. Can also be timing, valves etc but assuming you haven't just changed these. I wouldn't alter your carb setting if working well. It maybe running a little rich but that's OK. 😊👍
