    A lot of film photographers TRY to get that first 'half-exposed' shot that you apologized for at the :49 mark. I strive to get one of those with each roll, and am disappointed when I don't lol Great work!

    Hi! New subscriber here. I almost never leave comments on UA-cam but this time I just had to. I shoot mainly on a dslr but I've been wanting to try film photography for a while now. Since I really don't have enough time to seriously delve into film right now, this half-frame camera seemed like the best choice as I will use it just to casually experiment and have fun with it. A lot of reviews I've seen have been really critical about the camera but I think they forget the purpose of it- which is to be a fun point and shoot camera, not the next leica m6. I found your video really inspiring to be creative on a budget and I'm really excited to give this camera a try. All of your pictures turned out beautiful but the one you took in the ball court with the birds on the background is just something else.
    About film prices, where I live (Mexico), the cheapest one is the Fuji 200 at 10 usd, aprox. and I found that AliExpress has similar prices for some film brands like Nolan, Ilford, FPX and Fomapan.

      Carla! I appreciate you watching the video. I'm happy that you found some of my images to be inspiring. You seem to know exactly what you want to do and that's a great start. Film ain't cheap... anywhere, BUT I did find a shop out in California that has competitive prices, it's called Freestyle Photo👌🏽. Now, to stay on budget you'll probably want to shoot in BW. Here are a few film stocks on the cheaper side:
      - Arista EDU Ultra 100 ISO
      - Foma Fomapan 100 ISO
      - Rollei RPX 100 ISO
      - CineStill BwXX Double-X ISO 250
      Have fun and pls share some of your results when you have time.🙏🏽 let your creativity fly!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    Hello Taha, greetings from Barcelona-spain. Very good photos and review. I use this camera for creative projects, as a notepad because of how simple it is, later I come back with a professional camera. The simple makes you let go and that letting go offers you a pure vision. Big hug and congratulations on your channel. What you think about old digicam instead of film. Quite similar too film? I tried to use nowadays and I find good results.

    • @tahaphoto
      @tahaphoto  Рік тому +1

      Hey! Great question. Thanks for watching. I will say, the digicams can give you the film look but it'd totally subjective. If you want that pixelly look then you can get that. I prefer film in that case. Now 90s camcorders for video, that may be cool to explore. Cheers!!!

  • @micah29

    Would you recommend shooting pan 400 with the h35 instead? I know the H35 sometimes struggles with overexposure when shooting 400 iso colour negative film but i havent seen anyone talk about 400 iso b&w film.

    • @tahaphoto
      @tahaphoto  Рік тому +1

      Merlox! Great observation, I'll have to put a roll of 400 thru to see the results. If you're looking to document a lot of motion, yes higher iso film makes sense. My set up was about budget as, that's why I chose pan 100. Cheaper than 🙏🏽🙏🏽

    • @micah29
      @micah29 Рік тому

      @@tahaphoto Both 400 and 100 cost the same where I'm from. Did you run into any issues with brightness using the 100? I've never shot below 200 iso film with the H35 and the idea of a fixed shutter makes me a bit nervous for shooting 100 in slightly darker conditions (not night)

    • @tahaphoto
      @tahaphoto  Рік тому

      @@micah29 Well, since the shutter is 1/100 sec and your iso 100 film needs more light in most situations to prevent motion blur and camera shake. ISO 200 will be fine tho.
      I would recco iso 400 (or 800 if you know most lighting ops will be super low). Again, only if you know you'll be shooting in lower light situations and if you DON'T want to use the flash. ANd finally, because it's iso 100 you'll have fine grain which helps the half frame negative create better prints. Cheers.
