Spitfire - Bomber Interception
This one might be a bit more for entertainment than education. I attack four armed bombers, dodging their gunfire while landing speedy, almost spiteful blows when the opportunity presented itself. Then I abandon all pretense of instruction, and basically just chortle smugly as the damage eventually takes its toll, setting one on fire, emptying the fuel of another, and prompting an odd mass suicide from the crew of the third.
I let the fourth one go, confident that even in its damaged state, it would reach its airbase, and ended the video. The crew did survive, but only by blind luck. Attempting an emergency landing in a field, its fuselage slipped neatly between two trees, but its wings did not, and remained with the trees while what was left of the plane tobogganed across two more fields, between a few more trees, and came gently to rest by a babbling brook. Kind of wish I'd kept recording, but at least I grabbed a screenshot of it for the title card.

Spitfire - Compass Addendum

So, I forgot to mention the P8 compass in the first video, and rather than re-record that 30-minute session, I'm just uploading this addendum. This video is part of a playlist meant to help Spitfire pilots: ua-cam.com/play/PL7pn4rQD0F5aXFllJr5V86M9_GCPTTpoy.html
Spitfire - Aerial Gunnery Practice
Переглядів 1243 роки тому
In this one, we actually get into the combat portion of the sim, with some target practice against unarmed drones. I chose four FW-190A8 Antons, because they're famous for their ability to tank punishment. I've emptied every round I can carry into some of these things without a decisive result, so they're a good choice for aerial gunnery practice. However, in this video, I get a number of lucky...
Spitfire LF Mk.IX - Non-Combat Aspects
Переглядів 2263 роки тому
This is an intro to getting around in the Spitfire, with combat covered in an upcoming video. I've received some supportive, constructive criticism about my mic hissing when I'm not speaking. I'm really not a video editing guy, I know very little about that field, but I stuck a noise reduction filter on OBS's mic input. It definitely helped with the hissing, but it makes "axis" sound like "ahis...
Ka-50 Guide - Night Fighting
Переглядів 7 тис.4 роки тому
While it's not recommended to fly the Ka-50 at night, it can be done, although it's best done with help. This video shows a night time cold start, followed by S-8OM illumination rockets (kind of) and Vikhr and gun usage against some parked trucks. NVG usage is covered, as is IT-23 (Shkval display), and interior cockpit lighting. NOTE: At this point in the Open Beta, there are still some glitche...
Ka-50 Guide - Countermeasures and Autorotation

Ka-50 Guide - Air to Air Combat
Переглядів 1,7 тис.4 роки тому
Air-to-air combat is absolutely not the Shark's forte, but it can be done. From range, the Vikhrs are very effective, and the gun can be used either with the fixed reticle for point-blank fighting, or in gimballed mode with a Shkval lock. Updated for DCS World 2.5.6. DCS Viggen - Introduction to Basic Concepts and Mavericks
Super informative and to the point. Underappreciated vid. Well done.
Both side markers for East and West are spaced 90deg from North “Cross Marker” . So if you exactly align a West positioned conveniently at your 12 in that case , you’re sorted. ( by default all three directions markers will fall in right place. ) Ps. Check key binding for hiding stick so you can have unobstructed dashboard view.
That ending 😂. Thank you so much for these videos, I have learned so much from you.
if you're using radar ranging why do you need to set the QFE? just curious.
Hey, I'm not sure if you still play DCS but these tutorials are great, really enjoying going through them as I learn the Viggen. Such a fun plane. Do you play on any of the big multiplayer servers like Enigmas? If so would you be able to do any videos going through sorties that the Viggen can do well at on these servers? I'm trying out enigmas at the moment but I find myself limited to mostly mavericks because creating flightplans on multiplayer servers feels a bit fiddly. I'd love to be able to mix between the RB15s and M71s and feel like I'm actually contributing
This is by far the best viggen tutorial that I have ever watched its simple and teaches you HOW to use nav thank you so much.
My misiles are doping everything perfectly but 300 m before their target they hit water and explode. A really need help please…
Sadly, that's a bug, so there's nothing you can do until it's fixed. For what it's worth, HB has mentioned that the fix is in progress, so there's a decent chance it'll be in the next patch.
@@Viking355th thank i was getting flustrated.
Nice job, this was a great introduction for me. I had been only using the Igla missiles before this.

Just got DCS and the Viggen is my first module, I've watched a couple of youtube vids so far but your descriptions seem to click with me best, many thanks!
I just bought the Viggen, after careful consideration, as my first aircraft. I've seen many videos as I begin to get a grasp on it, but none as good as this. I'm glad I found your guides!
Nice bro! Now I know more thanks to Your vid😊
Really great tutorial, cleared up a lot of mis-conceptions that I had about time-on-target. Thanks a lot!
Awesome man, enjoyed that!
You sound familiar. Are you the legendary Ironhand from the Lock-on days?
Just a quicky Viking, since the 2.9 update , have you been able to get the Datalink working in the Shark ?
Thanks for your feedback Viking, got all that sorted now, great vid mate 👍👍
Yet again mate, another excellent vid , albeit with only 2 braincells in working order I'll probably watch this at least 3 times lol. going off tangent a little, do you have deadzone / curves on pitch , roll, rudders ?, I have the warthog system and find that i just cannot get the a/c to run straight while taxiing, and while in the air I always seem to be side slipping even when the trim is dead level. any advice greatly appreciated. keep up the good work mate.👍
Thanks! I do have some pretty heavy rudder curves on the Viggen, I think it’s in the low 20s. There’s also a bind for centering the roll trim, maybe give that a few taps to make sure accidental roll trim isn’t the issue.
Excellent vid mate, 👍
One thing I’ve been doing is using radio commands to send illumination rather than the illumination rockets - not too bad todo in the Mission Editor and works great!
Bizarre question, under normal operations in real life after they fire all of the rockets and a rocket pod is it typical for them to jettison the rocket pod immediately or do they like to take that back to base 99% of the time to reuse it and save money.
Those launch pods do cost money, and supply may be limited. IRL, if you dump them without explicit prior permission, you need a good reason, like "an enemy was coming up behind me, and I needed all the speed I could get, in order to escape."
Ctrl + Alt + L - flashlight
Such a useful video, many thanks ;)
Incredible to see this much detail. Do you know if the P8 Grid Compass is still in use anywhere, or it got abandoned after the Spitfire?
B1 = Brytpunkt 1 (breakpoint 1), where you break your course to the new one. M4 = Mål 4, simply the Swedish word for Target 4. Tad confusing in Google translate, as "mål" also has the meanings of "goal" and "meal", and in archaic form also speech (mål i mun, lit. speech in the mouth)/ language (främmande tungomål, foreign languages spoken).
I wasn't willing to stay on the video due to the poor mic... but I stayed and I'm glad I did ! Awesome tutorial. I'll check the rest :)
great videos, thank you
good tutorial. how do you get radar ranging though ? =)(
Unless specifically disabled through the CK37, it'll happen automatically.
@@Viking355th Thank you sir o7
Thank you for clarification. The viggen is so simple yet so complex at the beggining. The CK37 definitely takes some getting used to but your video has made it so easy to understand !
Is this tutorial series still up to date for the viggen?
Changing the sequence on the pvi 800 never works for me. I've followed the checklist in the manual precisely.
rb24 is aim9b and rb24j is aim9p or j. aim9l is supposed to be rb74
It’s weird i bought this yesterday to finish off my entire set of planes for DCS … But HUD is like off center … It was disappointing
The HUD points towards the next waypoint in NAV mode, bud. Maybe try reading the manual next time.
Great tutorial!
very well made video, thanks mate.
Would love to see some external view scenes from time to time. And please turn off your control indicator bottom left. Awesome channel, thx man for all the work.
is it Magnetic or True heading ?
Chaff...and Flare..../pod/.That just.....*mind blown*
Yeah man. It looks like a missile 😂
Viggen Intro: Basics and also Guided AGMs. Me: *0.o*
thanks for these helpful tutorials on bombing!
Thanks for the demo. Im absolutely obsessed with the KA-50 Blackshark rn, mainly cause I love helis and its a coaxial rotor single seater and I can learn comfortably on my own and just jump in and do solo missions. VR is pretty sick too. Feels almost scary at times, guess thats why they added the ejection 💺 haha.
Love the tutorials, keep it up. SABRE next?
I'd consider it if they fixed the guns, but right now, you can can shoot yourself in the face under certain circumstances, because the muzzle velocity of the rounds is so low that you can catch up to them after they've been fired. This also causes inaccuracy with the gunsight, because the sight is expecting the correct muzzle velocity.
Great Vids. I've just set snapviews yesterday and it's changed DCS. Think one would work well here
Someone has probably already point this out but: The RB24 is your very basic Aim-9B, the RB24J is the Aim-9P3 or the Export Aim-9J, they are both Rear Aspect only and are not all aspect. Now the RB74 which the AJS also carries is All Aspect and is the Aim-9L. Otherwise amazing video and tutorial man! Never seen anything to this quality and detail regarding the Viggen
I don't understand how the computer makes the difference between entering a "time on target" and a "Mach number" at a wpt? I suppose Bx are target points and how to define them in the flight planning?
Plan your videos in segments
Interesting. What I’ve picked up from that is given how difficult the compass is to see and manipulate to just use your F2 view to see your heading and go from there. Bit of a cheat I know. I don’t like using active pause as then all your wing mates fly away and have to regroup again.
Very useful! Thanks for your time and effort. 👍
Hey Viking, These videos for the Viggen are really really great! I recently bought the Viggen and I have fallen in love with it!!! I appreciate your simple style of good information and demonstration. It's easy to follow your instructions and learning the basics of this warbird was a breeze because of these vids. Thanks so much!!!! FireBall
