Scavengers also make sure that any sickness is left on the ground by eating the carcass. Anthrax and other sickness may spread if not eaten by scavengers
Are you sure this is a good idea ,,any idea how quickly they will multiply,,and come into urban areas ,they are very difficult to control,,and they have no real predators in uk .lets see in 10 years how well this goes 😂😂😂🐗🤪
Just saw a fox and a muntjac together in Leicester do they get on or is it trying to eat it?
Webinar starts at 2:40
If you introduce boars without a keystrone predator like wolves, you get a real problem
Aren't we doing this in scotland anyway struggling a b8t with wold cats not sure the lynx discussion is like.

way more species of birds than mammals. In that weird way, Earth is still the planet of dinosaurs. yes, looked differently, it is the planet of apes. GREAT video
This is a great listen, thanks! :)
Once Mr. Brusatte found his groove, this was wonderful! Thank you! EVERYTHING that brings you joy. Every song. Every picture, every painting. A slight touch of a loved one upon your cheek. Only exists because some mouse wanted to eat the bigger acorns.
Interesting points, but mention hedgehog decline and badgers are always blamed especially by farmers. So much farmland is a desert for wildlife. Badgers are the least of their worries,
Thanks for posting this. We have found it very educative.
what about the (potential) problem of wolf/dog hybridisation ?
Awesome talk, thank you
No space for brown bear in Britain yet we are importing and feeding millions of people from Africa.
Maybe a small scale experiment first. How about we introduce rabbits to one of the penal colonies and see how it turns out.
They're talking about re-introduction of previously native species. Not introducing possible invasives to a continent after eradicating all natural predators that would normally regulate the balance of natural ecosystems, like in Australia
@@henrystokes1987 They're talking about animals that are no longer part of the Eco system. I'm not saying we shouldn't be doing this but our ability to predict effect is weak and our long term planning is non existent.
@mikepotter5718 I understand what you're saying. But I'd much rather there be higher bio-diversity than not. Anything we can do to rebuild the ecosystems we have collectively destroyed as a species is a step in the right direction, IMO.
Mikepotter smoking way too much pot turns you potty mike.
@@henrystokes1987we rarely destroy eco systems but we do adapt and alter them ,just like all animals do .
The story about the wolves in Yellowstone is actually wrong. The wolves didn't eat that much dear, but caused a change in the behaviour of the dear. Where they previously grazed the open spaces, fear of being eaten now made them remain more in the bushier areas, leaving the open spaces to develop...
Many . Deer .
Very interesting 👌 👍 🐕🦺🦇🦔
I've definitely seen/heard from various photographers (on forums and in person) that "You need to get close, don't rely on long lenses, use a shorter lens and get close" etc. While this may result in the better IQ, this should not come at the cost of adversely affecting the behaviour of the subject. I've been out photographing deer on White Edge Moor and Big Moor over the last week, and have seen other photographers with tripods and big lenses getting (in my view) far too close to the stags. There have been occasions where I've been able to get some decent closer shots, but those were at times where I was standing still and passed closely to reach a rival male.
Good stuff! 🙂
hello please send a link to that interactive map
Well, who knew it was Mammal Week? Many thanks for the video, as our under-appreciated, native mammals need all the support they can get. Birds get a lot of the attention, but we humans are the same class as our furry friends on land and the amazing dolphins and whales off the shores of our islands. Keep up the good work Mammal Society.
I found a albino white shrew
*Promosm* 😄
love this!
thank you Dr Stephanie for making conservation an easily accessible topic - so so important!
Very interesting. Thanks!
LOVE this! Fascinating to see the difference between the shrews
Do transgender mammals exist?
Course not
Very interesting presentation, is there a link to where we can source these well-designed traps? Thank you so much!
What would you call this type of camera trap box?
It went well, but I see you are lost in UA-cam. With such a cool direction of video spot, you should increase your audience. Contact the guys at utify.io. Officially they will do everything, pump your channel!. _L
