Bont Parkstar Skates Review *UPDATED*
I’ve been skating in my Bont Parkstar skates for well over a year and a half now and I thought it was time to do an updated review of these skates.
You can find my original review here: ua-cam.com/video/bzmJ8oomQEw/v-deo.html
But since then, I’ve made several changes to my set-up and I encountered a couple of issues, which I discuss in the video.
The final Parkstar set up:
+Teal Parkstar boot with pink and white stripes (Bont 6)
+Bont Tracer plate (size 6,5)
+Bont Waxed Laces
+Bont toe stops
+Discoblox Lowrider Bandit (size 3)
+CIB/Reckless wheels (58mm, 98A)
+Bones Cushions (White/Black Hard)
+DiscoTrux
+BetterBearings Lickety Splits
+ FootPrint Kingfoam Elite High Classic

How to stall on roller skates (Skatepark tricks tutorial)
Переглядів 3,5 тис.2 роки тому
Hi Skaters! I’m really excited to bring you a new skate park tutorial!!! This one is all about how to stall on the coping and how to fix some of the issues that I had when I was a beginner skater and the issues I see others have when they’re learning this trick. Before you start, you should already be comfortable skating forwards, backwards and stopping. You should also be comfortable with pump...

The weather has really started to change here In north east England, which means fewer skate days for me. Luckily I was still able to get out there a few times 😁This month I focussed on really nailing the backside 180s, doing longer frontside slides, halfcabs, and 50-50 stalls. This video Is a compilation of my skate videos for October 2021. I’ve edited out some of the really repetitious bits, ...

Roller skating has become so popular in the last year and I wanted to make a short video series where I can share the very basic skills needed to get off to a good start! The videos are intentionally short, because I know people will want to get rolling as quickly as possible, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll master each skill that quickly. Please don’t be disheartened if you can’t do e...

    I can't believe how many brands sell skates as Park Ready, with no grind block. Obviously grind block costs extra 100$ so yea you might not want that... Surly you would prefer to buy a pair of skates then buy some random Block and hope it fits.

    Hi! Thank you for the in depth review. I’m a baby skater and I’ve signed up for a roller derby 8 week course. I’m looking at getting a pair of skates that could be pretty universal as I don’t know if I just want to stick to roller derby but I don’t have the budget for multiple skates. Would the Bont ParkStars be good for an initial skate that I could use in Roller Derby and park skating?

    Sad to hear this since I just bought a pair of Karma Pros (luckily at half price €250 unused and second hand). As a guy there isn't much to choose from at this price point. I did already order a long stem toe-stop (Chaya Cherry Bomb) since I'm going to install 65mm 78A street wheels to re-learn skating. I got mine in Red which I like but I get what you mean with the non-neutral colours. The Karma Pro also comes with ABEC 9 bearings which I'm happy about. Oh the Karma also has a wider axel (67mm). Will share some experience once my skates arrive (in 4 days). I had buyers regret 20 years ago when I bought a pair of Roces 5th Element aggressive inline skates which were completely wasted on me. They were SUPER heavy, had hard small wheels which were not suitable for street skating (we had no skate park). Riding around on big pebbled tar roads my feet would go numb. If you don't mind buying skates with heels carefully consider what you will be doing with any skate you buy. Thanks for the review

  • @cocobunitacobuni8738
    @cocobunitacobuni8738 Рік тому

    Would these be wasted on me if I don't intend to do any aggressive skating? I'm having a hard time finding a high quality (with at least an adjustable toe stop) flat boot. Maybe I should try the Prostar instead of the Parkstar.

    • @geekgirlskates9310
      @geekgirlskates9310 Рік тому

      Not necessarily, if it’s a comfortable skate for you and you like them, then I wouldn’t say they were wasted on you. The quality is pretty good for the price in my opinion and if you’re not going to trash them like I did, they’ll last you a long time!

    Ive only had bad experiences with abec bearings. Reds never let me down even when you can hear the sand and dirt grinding around inside.

    • @teddy8459
      @teddy8459 5 місяців тому

      Not sure what you mean. "ABEC" is a standard of quality, not a brand. All bearings have an ABEC rating, including Reds. For example, Bones Precision Reds bearings are ABEC 7

    • @PinkPulpito
      @PinkPulpito 5 місяців тому

      @@teddy8459 oh idk then, just all the skates come with these bearings listed as abec 7 and I’ve had them jamming up like first day so I always pop them out and put in reds when they come stock lol. I’m just ignorant of bearings. On my outdoor skates I popped the caps off and ride them dry. 😬

    • @teddy8459
      @teddy8459 5 місяців тому

      Bont only has the microfibre ankle straps, not the suede ones that come with the Parkstar. At least, that’s all I can see in the EU Bont store.

      @geekgirlskates9310 Рік тому

      No, I didn’t shorted my kingpin for 50/50s they touched the coping on some ramps, just depends how much the coping protrudes from the deck. I bought the Discotrux a while ago and they seem to be sold out everywhere.

    I like so much that you show how to fall as part of learning! Most skate tutorials just ignore the fact that "the skills of falling" is as important as the skills of skating! For skating (skateboarding, roller-skate), I actually practice falling as part of my warm-up including rolling by side or tumbling like a barrel (sometimes the forward force is too much, and rolling is one of the effective ways to gently absorb the impact energy).

    Just curious how these are as far as comfort around the ankle. Is there any padding, Achilles padding or anything. Its hard to tell from any pics I've seen. I want a supportive boot but also not one that feels like a leg prison if you know what I mean 😂

    I think it’s awful that a pair of skates that is soooooo expensive have such poor quality and get damaged like that after just a year and a half. I’ve got skates that cost 1/10 of the price of the bonts, have had them for over a year, and are still in perfect shape minus a few scratches from falling. I was thinking of buying a pair of these, but now I won’t, wont waste my money on them

    • @geekgirlskates9310
      @geekgirlskates9310 Рік тому

      Overall I don’t think the quality of the Bont Parkstar is bad at all, especially considering how much I was skating in them for the first year and a half. I was really rough on them and fall regularly when learning new tricks. And falling on concrete is going to tear them up faster than than falling on wood or metal ramps, so I feel they’ve held up really well considering!

You will see my commet on your disappoint about bont and moxi content you put up last week and my commet got blocked as unrealated argument but i can see why it is now as your another gate keeper selling 30 juice bottles as must needed kit and i corrected you on your bearing choice and bagging out sealed abce5 bont bearing, as ypu flapped on about abce 7s, like there is really any diffences other than selling elitist ideals to sheepeple Have you got a quiet little contract wuth weifa or a pro shop because sticking ricta clouds bushing and bones bushings on a set of skates acting a bit dumb by not mentioning the deromiter of the bushing and saying the ricta's and bonts just blow out because you trigten the king pin up to stuip came off abit red flag to me but i spotted the gray weifas befor you even metiond them well trying to miss pronounce the name of your new European skate thats a bit late to crack in to the market by ragging moxies was a smooth move... lol And your oh so " im not going to mention the bearining i have now..... let me guess, bones bearing, please bones bearing press that looks spotless, bones bearing bin that looks spot less bones bushing in to skates that apparently fit better that bonts own bushising.. nah hun. Covid is over, no one is sitting their locked diwn with a credit card in their hands. This kind of " im not selling anything" modality has had its day. Oh the reason you trashed bearings is you shoukd be 7sing nones big balls if your going to land hard on your wheel regularly... lol Spend some cash girl. Bones reds are not even abce rated.. and you where flapping on about abec7s .. lol Yeah , i think all the idiots are over the fad and have their impalars and moxi beach bunny veagan skates ( more like nasty cheep vinyl skates) are gathering dust in the back of the wardrobes. This has got stale. Your just as fake as Indy Jamma Jones and queer girl straight skates. With the same regurgitated how to look after your gear, get lots of un needed expensive gear to clean cheap bearings, i toss reds as there cheap enough to thrash them and bin them and id rather soend my money on some sealed ICD 9s that i have not had to clean in 8 years and they roll better than the redz i picked up with my new 101s spitfire a month ago. Yep , it was not lost on me the inner soles over sorting sorting how to instal bushing , let me guess yoyr using shoe goo to fix the bonts bumpers and run over all the threads with the new hollow F1 thunders blue and red hex nut tool to sell sell sell. Go over and sus out the brile team, their shameless promotions/ reviews are at least entertaining.

PS: Thanks for the update on your thoughts, I think it's great to do this since since prolonged use is what is going to bring up all the issues that are not aparent initially

      Yes! Thank you! It’s one thing to review them fresh out of the box, but completely different once they’ve really worn in and you’ve had a chance to see how they hold up. Only thing I could suggest about out of stock skates is to either get in touch with your local skate shop or enter your email for updates from the EU distributor.

    A great review, thanks for sharing! I’d love your opinion. I’m returning to skating after 20 years and do mainly street skating, cruising, tail skating with a little rink time. I’ve only ever skated in a boot with a heal. I know the Bont Parkstar has a 23mm heal. Would you recommend it for my situation?

    • @geekgirlskates9310
      @geekgirlskates9310 Рік тому

      Thank you! ☺️ personally I would prefer a leather boot for trail skating as it will hold up better, however I’ll be honest that I don’t due a huge amount of any of the types skating activities you’ve mentioned. There’s no reason why the Bont Parkstar wouldn’t work for any of these situations, so I think it’s just down to what you want to wear and what you find comfortable ☺️
