How I Turned a River Rock into a Beautiful Necklace

How I Turned a River Rock into a Beautiful Necklace
How is this fire opal? I live in a border town between Idaho and Washington. It looks like the typical agate I would find. They're everywhere... sort of. If you know where to go looking I guess. Just curious because if it is, then I have tons of fire opal.
The easiest way to tell is a hardness test. Fire opal is very soft and glass like. Red agate or carnelian are a type of chalcedony, which is very hard and heavy. Fire opal is so light that it almost feels like plastic. Finally, this came from a fire opal mine.
Some of your stuff would look great as natural jewelry!
I think so too! Some of it I have turned into necklaces for friends and family.
These are really Awesome........Thank You for Sharing.
You are so welcome!
I dont get the whole "night dig" thing. Slips, trips, and falls are more commonplace; constantly working in the shadows of your lights, and with reduced overall light to see.
It's definitely not ideal to dig at night. This particular time I was really excited but arrived late. I only planned to poke around for 5 or 10 minutes. Instead, I got incredibly lucky and found something amazing almost instantly. It was the first place I looked! The next day we dug for around 8 hours but didn't find anything nearly as good.
>How do you extract this without breaking any of them (zeolites)? That's the neat part, you don't! 🙂
Incredible colors
This the plush or ponderosa mine ?

Extremely Sharp Danger
Man, this video just proves how much of a novice rockhounder I am still. I would have just said, “huh, that’s a cool green piece of ‘leavit’ rock,’ and walked right on passed it 🤦🏻♂️. Great video btw. I’m a fan of your page now. Keep up the good work please.
Thanks for checking out the video, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll make sure add some more lapidary videos in the future. Cheers.
You work to close and the stress is realeased into the gem. Whats cracked or broke will always be that way although, Patience grasshopper dig into it further away from gem so you done take a chunk with it.
WOW
What about a box ont he shelf
Some kinda orange
Your choices & outcomes are magnificent. The polished rocks are phenomenal!! Loving every minute of it!!
I live in Salem Oregon. Do you know of any places near me that would have some nifty rocks ? 😊
Where ya at so I can pick up what you waste throwing down lmao. At least share your spot if you ain’t gonna pick up what others will.
Excellent moss!!
I'd love to make a necklace outta that slice! Wowzers!
Lucky YOU! 😊
Fruitcake, anyone? 😂😂
Dude!!!! What... I've never seen more beautiful rock! They are astonishing!!! Congrats man❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
i found a small rock and a shard of this stuff recently i don't know what it is
I spent a morning searching around up there, I didn’t find anything.

Beautiful
Woow
Nice
Awesome finds man!!! I just moved out here from Nevada and I love rockhounding. I'm in Vancouver WA, any spots close by I can find some similar treasures?
That was really nice! I nodded off to sleep a couple of times but I really enjoyed your video. It's reminding me of my youth when I would cut and polish rocks, make exquisite cabochons and otherwise avoid having to socialize with other people.
Does Jasper also have blues and bands of what looks like opal in it? I have found a few pieces of something that is beautiful with all kinds of colors
nice one❤
This is a phenomenal piece of pet wood. Do you have any idea what species of tree this formed from? Are you Midwest U.S., or PNW by chance?
" Silicate Show & Tell " 👍😎 ! I have collected at the Worthington Road area once , but it was near the end of summer , way too hot 🥵 for the hike in and up to the good areas .. plus everywhere , the grass had become 1 meter high before turning brown and dry .. we had some decent views southwards towards town , and eastward across to Mt. McLoughlin 🙂
I'm going for my birthday next year and also going to go to Glass Butte. I can't wait.
I'm jealous! This man is living my dream! Id pay to join him on these adventures!
Amazing Work
Rock n roll 🎉
My imagination goes wild with jewlery ideas Thanks for showing Would love to know the state these rocks came from.
The State is Oregon. This is but a tiny sample of the fantastic Oregon rocks. It doesn't even show the Oregon State stone which is the Oregon sunstone. The Oregon sunstone is a fabulously beautiful jewel. I have left mine in the rough. They are beautiful enough as they are.
I've done a number of stained glass projects and have always wanted to make a 12" booked agate shade. Just how thin can large agate pieces be sliced into? Given the weight of stone, I don't even know if it would be possible if they are any thicker than about 1/4 inch thick. Not looking to make a 50 pound lamp shade after all !
I'm right at the tip of Southern Oregon in CA. I only get to do beach agates, jasper and small pieces of petrified wood. I would so love to know where to begin to look for beauties. My 14 yr old granddaughter and I are both into rock hounding. Thanks for showing us your treasures.
The music is giveing the quiet place XD
lol, that's funny. I like to play around with the music and try different styles.
❤ Both those scenic moss agates!
Great rock finds!! Looks so fun! The blue flower is called Camas. The native americans cooked and ate the root, valuable food source for them. Loves to grow in meadows!
It was a great time with my family. My kids love frogs and tadpoles, and that meadow is full of them, so we had an added adventure looking at the puddles. I really enjoy hounding in the spring when everything comes to life. Cool factoid about the Camas flower.
Killer plume agate!!! 🎉
14:21 , 2 roosters squaring off
PM’d you a cool idea my friend. ✌️
Were you in the pits at the top of little glass butte? I'm planning a trip back there soon, going after rainbow this time, appreciate any tips you have. Got a huge chunk of mahogany and some silver sheen last time. Hoping for a few small pieces of rainbow this time. Thanks!
Unfortunately, I couldn't say because this spot was shown to me and I'm not very familiar with Glass Butte. It's a fun place to visit but also a major road trip for me so I only go occasionally.
Oregon plume agate is divine 😁
My name is jasper
ALLAH ne güzel yaratmış Elhamdulillah☝️🌹👍👍👍
