I got mark stone PSA 9 auto I gotta sell before he get hurt again
Nice
Thank you for this video. I was curious because I bought a collectable card (anime, not sports) that arrived from Switzerland, and they clearly used the plain envelope with the stamp, so I thought I could just do the same when selling my duplicates of the same kind of card. But this helps me realize it's more complicated than that.
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching!
This was a good video. I just started getting back into collecting cards but first wife said I have to many of my childhood. I would have to agree I have a lot so my deal is sell what I have to buy more cards hahaha. The issue I'm having is finding out the price for every single one. I have about 5 boxes of 5000 cards that's going to take me a long time to check each card. I know there are current apps you can scan your card and get some kind of idea I was thinking of going off that and see how that goes.. it's a lot of hard work plus I have little time since I have a family and full time job. Plus then finding a not so expensive scanner ... I love the hobby and the thrill of finding a good card. I need to check out your other videos to see your process. Keep up the great work.
Thanks glad the video was helpful. Pricing can be tough. Best to just search the card in eBay and see what it recently sold for when you are getting ready to list it. Bet that will be fun going through those boxes! Good luck and hope my other videos will help.
This was a great video. For me I have passed down box's from family members plus auctions. I just came into 3 5000 count boxes of cards and 8 other boxes different sizes full of cards. Most of them from the junk era but found HOF in them. Rows of upper deck cards almost full set and sorted by number. Trust me once you start collecting it gets out of hand so my plan hopefully is to sell cards for the first time on ebay. We will see how that goes.
Nice. That’ll be fun to go through those collections. Good luck! Thanks for watching.
good info
Thanks for watching
What sport sells best? Thankyou tim
Hey thanks for the question and for the eBay purchase! Depends on a zillion factors (time of year, player performance, etc.). Football has sold well last couple months. Baseball did ok earlier in the year. Just depends.
Thank you for your content! I started selling mainly low-end sports cards this month and your channel has been invaluable to me!
Good to hear! Glad the info is helpful. Hit me with any questions along the way. Good luck!
Awesome video!! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Great update and insights. Thank you for the transparency
Thanks for watching!
I am using low end cards right now just to get some experience, see how the market works, and then slowly increase to higher end cards. You can get into the game w/o so much risk.
100%. Hope it’s been going well for you. Hit me with any questions you have along the way!
nice cards i to show off my card collection on youtube and im your newest subscriber
Thanks! Appreciate the sub.
Do you have any information or direction you can send me to figure out how to do the accounting of these zillions of cards that I own and are selling?
Congrats on the good sales! Have a few tips here. ua-cam.com/video/-VSxyVXPFNk/v-deo.htmlsi=02Y-IKGM7Ay4VQ18. Everyone does it differently and finds out what works for them. Thanks for watching..
Use a top loader, then wrap with construction paper for thick cards. It helps with evening out the edges.
Good call. Still trying to figure out how to approach it with all the suggestions I’ve received. Thanks for the input.
Opinion for whatnot? I'm new to selling cards. I have my cards from PC to sell. I don't see much profit on ebay.
Haven’t used it myself. I hear some are very successful and some not on it. I think you need a big following to really make money at it based on what I’ve heard. Gotta start somewhere though. Good luck!
I started adding the additional shipping option as well. For my listings, eBay standard envelope is free, but buyers can pay the calculated rate to “upgrade” their shipping to USPS Ground Advantage.
Nice. Anyone actually pay for the upgrade? Haven’t had any takers on that option in my store yet.
@@CardZooSportsCards No I have not had anyone upgrade their shipping yet, but I’ve only been offering it for a couple weeks.
I’ve been doing mine for a while and no takers on it yet.
Have y'all used the 'list multiple sports cards by photo' on eBay? So far I love it. I had an old store so I had no idea it existed!
Ultimately coupons save you when part of your business plan is to lose money to get ppl into your store. A buy 3 get 25% off coupon would turn that one card loss into a 3 card small profit.
Are you calling eBay standard envelope shipping plain white envelope? You cannot send jersey cards using eBay standard envelope. Even if the envelope is less than 1/4 inch thick, it has to be flexible. Envelopes that aren't flexible have to be shipped Ground Advantage. Every time your envelope makes a stop at a USPS processing facility, it is machine sorted. The barcode on the eBay standard envelope is in the Intelligent Mail barcode format. It cannot be read with a hand scanner. It can only be read with the barcode reader found in the automatic sorter. If the envelope cannot go through the automatic sorter, it will not have tracking.
I buy frequently through eBay and have been sent Jersey cards, lots, and even packs through pwe. As a seller I wouldn’t do it but some people do.
I use Armalope envelopes for those slimmer game jerseys. I buy in bulk @.14 each. They will have to be shipped at the 2 oz rate. Buyers love them.
Nice! Thanks for the tip. Do you have a link to the ones you use?
A postal employee from my local post office which is also a processing facility told me the shorter pwe’s are hand sorted and don’t go through the sorter. My problem is I just need more sales and traffic to my store. But I’m only 6 months into this and I know it will come .
It takes time. Keep listing and doing all the things like good customer service, quick shipping, good variety, fix priced and auction and things will pick up!
I'm in Burbank and have known Rob since the 80s. I don't know the sweetheart deal Fanatics must of offered him to move his inventory over to their platform, but I think it will be a bad idea. There has been a few ebay clones over the years and NON of them have been successful. I do wish them the best and maybe im wrong, Ebay will be king for years to come.
It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out for sure, especially two years from now. I wonder how much of Rob’s business is in store versus online. Seems like he does well in store so wonder if he can afford to shake things up a bit online. Thanks for watching..
I agree 10005% fanatics live is clunky hard to use and gets no eyes 👀 on auctions for lower value stuff which I feel must be a good portion of Burbank online inventory sales
Awesome video quick question I purchased bubble mailers to send cards if someone paid $1.25 can I still send via bubble mailer or would that be envelope only or would I be the one to end up paying extra shipping cost? Thank you.
You can ship in whatever you want…you just want to be consistent and ship using the same service that you’re buyer paid for. If you charge 4.99 for usps ground, don’t ship in a plain white envelope for $0.69 because that will make your buyer upset. Conversely if you charge 1.25 for shipping, yeah you could use a bubble mailer, but it won’t make it through USPS as eBay standard envelope, so you’d have to pay extra and ship it USPS ground and you would be the one to eat the cost. So better to work out ahead of time what you are gonna offer/charge your buyers and then ship with the same method. Good luck!
@@CardZooSportsCards That answers my question thank you very much!
Ohtani just hit 40/40 the fastest in history. If there is a card that's gonna shoot to the moon it's gonna be his!
Oh nice!
I love your videos and advice. How did you set up your calculator to determine how much you sell your cards for?
Thanks, appreciate the support. I use google sheets. You just subtract all if the expenses from the potential card sale, expenses like card cost, eBay fees, shipping label, etc. The eBay fees is the hardest part because they change and there’s different ones. Very close to monetizing the channel so hoping to offer membership tiers and would like to offer some of these templates for different tiers. Thanks for watching.
Love the content, but the way you say Paul Skeens name makes me want to throw myself off the roof.
I’ve never sold on eBay before and I have a question. If I ship a card less than 20 dollars with a standard envelope, can I put it in my mailbox and have the mailman take it to the post office to get shipped?
Yes as long as it has enough postage
My thoughts since I'm a casual who does engage in the worst stocking method because I like collecting. 1. One way to keep per-card costs down is to open retail. The retail-to-hobby premium is often 50%+ and you may get 1-3 hobby exclusive cards. At least for hockey, the rookie card hit rate is mostly the same. Of course, there are multiple retail configurations and some of them suck (fat packs, blasters with lower hit rates). 2. Buying hockey lots became much more prevalent in 2023-24 because people are hardcore Bedard hunting and will sell off the excess for half the cost or less. 3. The thing I was told as a kid is keeping the boxes sealed (junk wax aside) is a solid way of doing that, especially since card grading became a thing. I do try to find packs and boxes on eBay/Facebook/Kijiji and flip them. This is especially important when starting out on eBay because you can quickly increase your selling limits.
Thanks for sharing how can I sell on eBay? I need tips from you. How do I set up my eBay to accept payment from buyers? How do I ship etc etc I’d appreciate your assistance.
Hi there. Thanks for the question. I don't have a full video on how to create an ebay store but it's very easy. You just go to ebay and create an account and start listing a few items. You don't need to have a paid ebay subscription if you're just starting out.
@@CardZooSportsCards I have a eBay account I just need to figure out how to hook up my account to my bank account so I can start receiving payments any suggestions? I want to make sure the $ goes to my account and not somewhere else 😂 and then figure out the shipping process of cards
Wish that template was avaliable. This is my biggest barrier of entry in starting a card shop
Starting a card shop on ebay? You can do that without any template. Very easy to list even 10-20 cards without any sort of template. Going into sales numbers more can be sometimes trickier if you're not excel savvy, but you can still analyze quite a bit using some simple reports.
Man i need to learn how to keep track of the financial stuff better. Do you have a video on that
Yeah it can be tough. Can be time consuming to set up on the front end. Just this vid here if you haven't already watched. ua-cam.com/video/-VSxyVXPFNk/v-deo.html. Very close to monetizing the channel so hope to have more resources available for different membership tiers.
Awesome video, any appetite to share your pricing calculator or do a breakout of how you have it set up?
Thanks! Very close to monetizing the channel and will probably start adding membership tiers where I include items like this with different tiers. Hoping in the next couple of months! Thanks for asking!
What are you using for the drawers behind you? I am looking for something.
I use these on Amazon for my cards. They work great! Not too big and fit lots of cards a.co/d/0xF37fX
Good stuff. I am still using CDP and like you I have not found it to be a magic pill. Still a lot of work has to be done. It works well for 89s and 90s base cards which are often not worth the trouble because the margins are so small.
@@jmsportscards1046 agree. I’ve stopped using it this past week and probably won’t use again unless I start increasing scale. Considered Krono card but the cost is too high right now.
Dude amazing vid. Subbed! I'm sitting on tons of cards and new to selling. Thanks for info.
Glad the info helped! Good luck on the selling journey! Hit me with any questions along the way.

This is my own dashboard I made using the eBay transactions excel export.
Yo thanks I don’t meet anyone that actually uses actual data as uncomfortable as it can be lol
Tons of inventory no time ahhh
Good stuff Mike. I have noticed in a few card sellers' videos that their sell through rate (STR) is around 4%. I can only assume that is about standard for sports cards. That is extremely low when compared to other categories on eBay. Being that it is so low, this would require extensive inventory to combat the low STR, or razor thin margins chasing the quickest selling items. The time to list and space required for storage are huge pluses in this business model of course. Thanks for the insights.
That’s a good point. I don’t usually pay much attention to the STR but something to consider. I think a lot of sellers (myself included) have in the back of their minds that, the more inventory I have listed, the more I will sell. If true, how much “more” remains to be seen for me. If I list 500 cards a day and consistently sell around 30 cards a day, is it worth it? Is that what it takes? Points to consider. Thanks for the comment. Just posted a new video recapping June and July.
I like to scan first then go back and list.
@@jmsportscards1046 nice. I do that a lot too. My office is upstairs and sometimes at night I like to chill downstairs and watch tv so I’ll scan a bunch in in my office so I can list with just my laptop since my scanners in the office.
Antique stores
Nice. I still need to get to some of those and see if I can find any cards.
@@CardZooSportsCards I was surprised. Never being to one I didn’t know that there are little booths that people rent out. It’s like a massive community of garage sales. There were probably 4 booths with cards. 1 was exclusively cards. Tons of them.
@@HewettBrian good to know, thanks. Bet you got some good finds!
Same way we do it for our store as well. Great way.
@@The_Main_Collector that’s good to know. I’ve tried card dealer pro multiple times, both for testing/research purposes and to see if it could actually work, and every time I land on getting so frustrated with it because half the cards don’t match, they don’t match correctly when they do, etc. if you don’t mind me asking, how much volume do you do via listings using the method I described in my video?
Can we just have a “Don’t Do” video 😂 the end was my fav part. 8:53
Haha seriously. Maybe I should do 1!
unrelated but do you know how to offer combined shipping as ground advatage when you offer pwe for single cards
You can setup multiple shipping options in your shipping profile/business policies. I’m not certain, but you might be able to setup a rule that says if it’s over a certain amount then it will switch to the ground advantage option automatically. But I feel like I did that in the past and it didn’t work. Good luck!
My biggest problem is what to do with all my base cards, I usually throw them away
I’d say most people probably do. I take a bunch of cards to goodwill every now and then. Sometimes I’ll list the base cards as a variation listing but unless you do that shortly after product release, you miss the prime selling time for those when people are set building. Some people group them with lots that they sell. But for the most part, they aren’t worth much depending on the player.
My base stuff I make into bundles of 50 cards and auction it off starting price being what it would cost me for postage/packing, sometimes they go and I make nothing other times a make a little on them. Helps reduce the bulk and as a added bonus sometimes brings in some cash.
@@1991MRstevo thanks
Was expecting something in the settings lol 🥹 gets super annoying scanning things again and again when you have 300 to scan. 😭
Yeah some folks have lucked out with other scanners and not getting any lines like the Ricoh’s. Eventually might try one but it’s a higher price tag
Great video
Thanks
How do you keep your cards sorted and organized to easily sort when selling?
I basically store them by letter and then number. So A’s and then smallest to larger number by card number. I do have variation listings in a separate pile so I can retrieve easily. But using that method, I can find any card in 10 seconds or less when I make a sale.
Thank you for this info. I am a new sports card seller that hasn't shipped internationally
Glad to help!
This is fire! Great advice!
Thanks!
