How do you like the PVC elements? Are they ridged like white oak would be?
No, it is not rigid like oak, they both have their pros and cons oak is nice traditional material, but it is not easy to obtain long lengths of clear 1 inch thick oak probably can substitute 1 inch for 3/4” I never have.
Do you like how it rides with PVC?
So the reason I went with the undersea bulkheads was to make the boat more rigid because I am using the more flexible PVC. The performance is very good. One of the last owners ran his boat with a two stroke Evinrude /Johnson, and obtain speeds of 35 miles an hour.
Where are you? Hope all is well
@@worldboatskiff8709 - I didn't see any new videos. I was just checking on you brother.
I am building a skiff now, but it’s nothing you haven’t seen before. I think my next boat maybe something different.
flounder are great to eat,
good color well done.
just use a finner blade more teeth??smooth cut!
when i built my fishing dingy16 ft i did the under hu8ull bright yellow for easy visual if overturned at sea. with dark green topsides and soft pale green inside. white gunwales and spray rails.
good fairing means good resale price.
Great job, and good motivation. I used to live in Falmouth, MA. The scenery looks very familiar:..
👍
I've just started watching this video series as I've recently become interested in building another boat. Just a quick question regarding using construction plywood in my build. Since live in a region where acquiring marine grade plywood would be very cost prohibitive since it would have to be shipped in. Would regular construction plywood be okay if the interior and exterior was covered in fibreglass cloth and epoxy? Thanks.
Yes, use the best quality you can get.
@@worldboatskiff8709 Thanks. The best in my area is fir plywood, Good One Side. I'm quite used to using West System Epoxy and will plan to use this product in my next build.
What a terrific job. That thing is beautiful
Thanks I love the way the boat can get into Shallowater, but in the open ocean I wish I had a V-hull
Hi...I really like your process and method in building a boat...I want to build my own boat for fishing off shore here in Barbados ...do you have any plans I can purchase for a 12ft or 15ft boat like yours ? If so I would appreciate it and Thank you in advance for your interest...
Yes, you can make the same boat 15ft-6in it is fairly simple. But to be honest if I was going offshore, I think I would want a V- Hull boat.
@worldboatskiff8709 when I said offshore I meant no more than 2 miles offshore...do you give specs for the "Jig" you set up?...I will buy the plans I think this boat will do well for me and a friend...watched your videos for few weeks now to get a grasp..Thanks again for you reply and advice...God bless
Enjoyable Series. Thanks for sharing this. What kind of PVC planking did you use for the chines and frames? Marine specific or like Trex? How has it weathered? How is the epoxy adhesion and screw holding ability? Could you build this up and use it for the stem?
I am using AZEK Decking it is 100% PVC l think holding up well. I just started a new boat today and will use it again.
Great job what a beautiful boat and no leaks. About a 40 horse would be nice huh? Lol
30 hp will go 35 miles an hour. You don’t want to hit waves faster than that.
Get a battery caulk gun and you’ll never look back!
I’ve switched to the larger double cartridge guns, so I need a battery one that fits those
What would a boat like this sell for?
$9,000
Worth every penny 👍🇨🇦
love your series man. great job
Glad you enjoyed
Que#tion on the bottom two pieces. Would you reverse that lap joint f you did this again. I’m just curious knowing how the boat goes through the water. ? Thank you
No
Wow, you’ve done a remarkable job. Thank you for sharing. 👍🇨🇦
Thank you kindly

OK
What size engine do you recommend for this boat?
Up to 30hp.
🙏🍺
What do you think about shrinking that boat down to a 14 foot boat? How do you feel that would work with your drawings?
I have built this boat 15ft-6in you just use one sheet of plywood for one side
👍
When you put those 2 coats on the plywood at the beginning do you also coat the scarf cut or do you leave it raw?
Yes, I leave it raw until it’s time is glue
You lost me with the drain plug tube with the bolt washers and nut. What is that process for. I have used a lot of 5200 and you did a nice cleanup on it. Love the series. I missed my calling. Your jigs and techniques are impressive.
So when you tighten that bolt, it creates a flange on the other side, like pinning it over with a hammer
Is the epoxy that you are using UV friendly?
No it needs to be painted
where is the part 5 of building center console . nice video. .keep it up
Please wear a dust mask when sanding or cutting! It’s no fun but being able to breath! Read a labels and believe it when it tells you not to inhale vapors! You can research COPD and see how to protect your lungs! Be safe and good luck!
"Make some dust..." That describes most of my woodworking attempts.😅
Not sure of the need for the ribs after you've shaped the boat on a jig. A closed /capped gunnel would hold the top side shape? Good looking boat
You skipped a HUDGE HUDGE part right after you cut the plywood ! That joint is sooooo critical ! You just skipped right over it to where you were finished it and started gluing it. Now it's pointless to even watch the rest of the first video. I would have absolutely subbed and watched every one of these videos but I can't get my head around how stupid it was to skip such a critical part at the start of the construction.....
This boat can take on some very very rough seas; providing it has a good captain and good bilge pump.
Where did you get the glove box and tackle storage boxes? Everything I’m finding is ridiculously expensive
Boat outfitters it probably was expensive
Nice, any plans for that sir? And what is the make and HP you installed?
It’s a 20 hp but you can use a 30hp I was out fishing today 5 striped bass biggest was 29” building plans worldboatskiff.etsy.com
@@worldboatskiff8709 Cool
That's an awesome boat , great job
Thanks 👍
Beautiful boat.
Thank you very much!
When you first fit the chine I noticed you didn’t put glue, and I thought I would have put glue. I wonder why he didn’t put glue, and I thought about it and realized that gluing the chine to the side would make it VERY stiff and would probably crack or put stress into the material when the side of the boat was bent to the frames. And then you mentioned that you had a notion about the difficulty with bending the work. To me it’s pretty obvious that you are correct, and I came to the same conclusion before you mentioned it in the video ! Really nice attention to detail , fine work. Being a Newfoundlander power dories are the pickup trucks of the water, I’ve often thought about having a nice large one for up here on the mainland. They are becoming more popular today here in Eastern Ontario. I would much rather have once of these than a fibreglass one. I use a large aluminum boat, with wood interior for convenience. I would much prefer one of your boats, if I didn’t have to trailer much. Beautiful boat.
Thanks best of luck
Retirement project for me. Thank you.
Best of luck!
Beautiful boat, that guy's singing is awful.
🥁
Looks like a classic Midland. Nicely done, sir. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yes this is an excellent shallow water boat
Ton vidéo né pas complet why
I don’t know
"I rolled it out" Do you mean coated it with epoxy?? Good idea though.
I generally roll out the sheets of plywood with epoxy before I start my build
Does watching the printer, and watching him sweep sawdust, really help the viewer. Good content spoiled by boring content. Smh. I'll watch it all though.
Sorry 😢
are you really complaining about 7 seconds of printing action? wow... by the way...for someone who is new to this catching a glimpse of those prints might even be beneficial.
Impressive
👍
I learned a lot about what you can do and what you shouldn't do, what tools you need and so on. Great job.
Thanks for watching!
Have you gone into what type of plywood u use? is marine grade essential or can exterior be used? How much is marine grade now? thanks
The plywood is Meranti, Philippine mahogany, marine plywood. Marine grade is not essential but the cost is not that much different, it has a much better finish then fir plywood.
Is access ever needed under the floor? im strongly considering making a boat like this.
There is no access under the floor. The floor is 3/4 of an inch thick plywood.
How about a nice piece of stainless running down the bow for impact and to tie the two sides together? ya or na
Nay the boat good
What happened to the boat? thats a good impact.
So it turned out a 13 foot Boston whaler crashed into it
How do you feel the flat bottom rides compared to a v-hull ?
Well, a v-hull gives you a better ride. The flat bottom gives you nice even floor space and shallow water draft.
