Just finished binge watching the whole playlist. You certainly have provided a public service. This is one of the most comprehensive series that leaves out none of the crucial design elements, but condenses much of the repetitive processes. Overall, it not just a class on how to build a skiff, but also on how to produce a video series. Well bone.
I just watched every episode over the last few days and have to say this is the best build I has seen on youtube. I have learnt so much that I'm going to definitely try build one now. I really hope you do another project soon. Thanks from Australia 🇦🇺
Love your vids. Well done. A inspiration to me. One day. Even though i don't have carpentry skills. i know i can still do it. Love your beautiful boat. Its inspired me to build one as well . One-day when i can. Thank you so much for the great very informative videos wow.
Fantastic job on the interior layout and finish. Does really well with that 20 HP motor and stays dry. Great job on the design and build. Ready to build another one? Have a great week.
Thanks you were the first to build from my building plans, keep posting your progress on Facebook. facebook.com/groups/1187035325125966/ see you in next years Skiff Regatta.
Just finished watching your boat build series must say im impressed at how well that boat turned out Im planning on building a boat on my channel soon But its gonna be a flat bottom shallow water boat 4 feet wide and 12 feet long I already own a 10 ft boat (2011 tracker jon) and its great for one person but its a bit cramped with two people and gear
I can't say how much I've enjoyed watching this series. Outstanding how-to by a truly skilled craftsman. I love how the boat is built and generally the style of the hull except the upsweep of the bow is too high for me. Could this be lowered by say, half? Same freeboard but lower angle of the sweep? Thanks
I wanna start by saying thanks, yes many boats have been built with less bow flare, that is achieved by changing the angle at the chine. The reason for such an upturned bow is to keep you dry in the ocean from oncoming waves and spray.
Haven't watched all your videos but didn't see any foam flotation? Relying on the wood 🪵? Nice skiff Thay use them here in Newport beach ⛱️ socal Dory's launch through the surf🌊
@@worldboatskiff8709 l don't think so there used to be at least 10 back in the day now maybe 🤚 full it's seems to be thing of the past it's a tough life harder to make 💸 Thay sale there catch 🪝 in the morning at the base of New Port beach pier I'm 60 and I remember watching them when I was kid going through the surf 🌊. Hello, I want to learn, do you also use epoxy resin in combination with wood board? And is the glass 200g or 600g? Taiwan currently sees more similar 200g and 600g?
No, it is not rigid like oak, they both have their pros and cons oak is nice traditional material, but it is not easy to obtain long lengths of clear 1 inch thick oak probably can substitute 1 inch for 3/4” I never have.
So the reason I went with the undersea bulkheads was to make the boat more rigid because I am using the more flexible PVC. The performance is very good. One of the last owners ran his boat with a two stroke Evinrude /Johnson, and obtain speeds of 35 miles an hour.
The skiff is out of the garage, on to the trailer and into the water. This has been an awesome project to share with you and I hope I inspire you to build a boat also. If you would like to build this boat I have all the information recorded in building plans in both standard and metric measurements. At World Boat Skiff you build boats. www.etsy.com/shop/WorldBoatSkiff
Also I was more asking about delamination of the PVC material. Don't want to have to flip my boat every year to repair it. You used same epoxy that you used on the glass?
So the reason I’m confident with PVC glued with thickened epoxy is, I have used it on other boats that has been on for 15 years with no signs of coming off. Maybe with a chisel and grinder. But it is glued to fiberglass not wood.
Is there a way I could get your input on a wood boat project I took over. It is a 20ft sled. I would be happy to email or we could do it here it it helps others. Just needing some direction on process. I will share pictures with you. That is if you are willing or able to help support. Asking your advice due to the fact you have built more than most peoples share in wood boats and have some true real Do's and Don'ts Thanks I can provide you my email or vis-versa. Thanks Aaron

Wow that’s a huge compliment I appreciate that very much. Spread the word let’s get some more of these skiffs on the water.
Great job, and good motivation. I used to live in Falmouth, MA. The scenery looks very familiar:..

Can’t wait to see your boat being built at facebook.com/groups/1187035325125966/
I learned a lot about what you can do and what you shouldn't do, what tools you need and so on. Great job.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks. Was starting to wonder if I was ever going to see the finished boat. I'm in the process of building an 18' lumberyard type skiff.
Cool more skiffs 👍

That is so cool. I watched all the videos for this boat build..
Glad you enjoyed watching the series.
Thanks. Everything was very easy to follow and very inspirational.
You’re welcome are you talking about the videos or the boat plans.
Great job what a beautiful boat and no leaks. About a 40 horse would be nice huh? Lol
30 hp will go 35 miles an hour. You don’t want to hit waves faster than that.
Beautiful job!! You should be really proud of yourself. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome I’m glad you liked
Fantastic watched the whole build , really enjoyed thanks.

Love this!
Glad you like New video out today
This boat can take on some very very rough seas; providing it has a good captain and good bilge pump.
Awesome boat great job, some interceptors glued to the rear might help with the porpoising

I did put some foam under the seats, But I have not tested it to see if the boat will not sink when flooded. Do they still build the surf dory’s?

No I’m not gonna do that I’m gonna keep it simple these boats have been around for generations as fishing boats.
flounder are great to eat,
How well has the Trex or plastic Keil runners help up?
Do you leave this boat in the water all year, 1/2 year. Thanks.
The PVC runners are going to outlast me our boating season is May through October
Thanks. I am thinking of adding them to my wood boat. It is more if a river boat. So I would like to provide some abrassive protection for beaching.
Hello, I want to learn, do you also use epoxy resin in combination with wood board? And is the glass 200g or 600g? Taiwan currently sees more similar 200g and 600g?
Yes I do glue the boards with Epoxy. 600g is good
Yes I do glue the boards with Epoxy. 600g is good .
OK, thank you
How did the "plastic lumber" chine, strakes and runners work out?
It worked out really well I’m happy with the results easy to buy easy to bend and will never rot.
When I heard the band, I wanted to get as quickly back on the boat and head the opposite direction.
Thanks for the kind words.
Impressive
👍
Now I want a guitar because of this video
I think you should play drums
I really liked watching this build. How long do you think it took you start to finish?
I’m glad you enjoyed the build series that was a years worth of fun
Nice, any plans for that sir? And what is the make and HP you installed?
It’s a 20 hp but you can use a 30hp I was out fishing today 5 striped bass biggest was 29” building plans worldboatskiff.etsy.com
@@worldboatskiff8709 Cool
How do you like the PVC elements? Are they ridged like white oak would be?
No, it is not rigid like oak, they both have their pros and cons oak is nice traditional material, but it is not easy to obtain long lengths of clear 1 inch thick oak probably can substitute 1 inch for 3/4” I never have.
Do you like how it rides with PVC?
So the reason I went with the undersea bulkheads was to make the boat more rigid because I am using the more flexible PVC. The performance is very good. One of the last owners ran his boat with a two stroke Evinrude /Johnson, and obtain speeds of 35 miles an hour.
How do you feel the flat bottom rides compared to a v-hull ?
Well, a v-hull gives you a better ride. The flat bottom gives you nice even floor space and shallow water draft.
Hey Jerry, would something like this be okay to put oarlocks onto and drift downriver?
Yes these boats started out as rowing fishing boats.
What size engine do you recommend for this boat?
Up to 30hp.
