LS ENGINE MARINE CONVERSION: Sneak Peek! Firing up the Engine for Testing!
Переглядів 3,2 тис.3 роки тому
After a long build we've finally got our engine on it's test mount. We've make a couple minor changes that we'll be going over in future videos as well as doing tuning to make this beast run smoothly. For Now - Enjoy the light show as we fire up the engine with the lights off for the first time!
LS ENGINE MARINE CONVERSION: Installing the Headers
Переглядів 23 тис.4 роки тому
Now's the time to install our Headers. We have a set of silver powdercoated wet headers from Lightning. Because we decided on a (much maligned) carbureted application, these headers won't need to have an O2 sensor provision that an EFI application would have. Follow along as we install the headers on the engine and install the water tree and lines to the thermostat housing.
LS ENGINE MARINE CONVERSION: Installing the Alternator
Переглядів 2,9 тис.4 роки тому
Before we installed the engine on the rails, we installed the alternator with our custom brackets. Here is a quick video showing the alternator being installed on the motor.
LS ENGINE MARINE CONVERSION: Installing the Carburetor
Переглядів 3,3 тис.4 роки тому
This week we install the carburetor on our LS motor. We had many questions on why we chose to use a carburetor rather than EFI. We did so for a couple reasons. 1, its more cost effective and we don't have to run an O2 sensor. See more at www.powerboat1.com

Changing the Shift Cable on a Berkeley Jet Drive
Bad azz!
How do you get a good working 02 sensor for efi if the exhaust is cooled?
The O2 sensor is placed before the exhaust gases and cooling water are mixed.
There is probably 5 grand or better in just the conversion for the LS motor. Wouldnt it be better just to build a non LS performance motor for the same price. If I had 5 grand to spend on a engine I could build a pretty hot motor , The build is really cool just dont see the logic with the Marine kit
curberator??? I am out
Carb? That’s a no for me gtfoh
Would this be better than a 454?
Is the website down? It said not available when I tried to find it.
Hope it comes with roller bearings and not ball bearings or its just as durable as original brass pump
I need a kit
Contact CP Performance 707-585-9871 they can put something together for you.
Is this required if you have a Mercury smartcraft gauge system installed 🤷🏻♂️
No. Smartcraft has a bullet connector for digital trim input.
@@rockerneck read the first reply on this topic 🤷🏻♂️
If an o-ring is used to seal between the Bell and the transom housing, does the o-ring go on the Bell after it is assembled and then install the transom housing last??
The o-ring goes on the groove in the bowl after assembly and then the transom housing is installed.
Do you assemble the bowl and oring before you put the transom plate on?
Hello from Australia, Nice work on your product, Would this fit a 1hz Diesel engine from a Toyota Land Cruiser, Thank you
OHHHHH THATS THE ANSWER THEY COME IN THE KIT!!!!!
WAIT WAIT WAIT WHOOAAA WHOOAAA WHOOOAAA!!!!??? WHERE IS THE LS THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY!!!!????? WHY IS THERE STILL AN EXISTING 4 BAREEL CARB ON TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS HAS TO BE THE UTMOST MISLEADING ONLINE INFORMATION TRADING OUT A LS BASED ENGINE INTO A 1980 STYLE MERCRUISER BOAT I HAVE EVER WITNESSED AND ITS DRIVING ME UNDER THE WATER!!!!1
This LS engine is built to be used with a Berkeley / American Turbine style jet drive. It is not built for any kind of Mercruiser applications. Maybe you should watch the whole series before commenting, it isn't misleading at all...
ls engines do not come with carbs dumshitt!!
ok ok ok enough! I respect your knowledge and direct info here yet what about the guy with the 1992 open bow boat powered by a tired 309 hours later center bolt valve cover small block gm 305 v8!!??? we want to stuff an LS 1 2001 era 6.0 v8 LS dressed v8 engine in place of that old tired small block? We should need direct info for water cooled manifolds and water cooled intakes infi and maybe even water cooled throttle body! and flywheel bolt up and even engine mount options!!!!!
I have a taylor with a Berkeley jet, who does these rebuilds anymore? I need to get mine done but don't know where to start asking.

Anyone ever find what that hose part number was???
I have that boat now !
Great product! The shock absorption is nice on your drive. Most people don’t even know what it is. Hence the view count. Thanks.
Well almost 2 years later and no end result.. what went wrong?
Nothing went wrong, but COVID happened and priorities went in different directions and running this engine went to the back of the priorities list. The engine is still here and is being used to as a test bed to developing new LS marine parts.
Thank you for sharing,
Sorry but it bothers me to no end when people flip a motor over with the old oil pan still on literally all the grime at the bottom just falls into the rest of the motor
Hola Como esta nesecito comprar parte.
And it cost ???????

Good video seams like a good Product imbetweenBoats at the Moment but since i’ve owned 17 or 18 of them over the years it’s probably temporary i’ll check the Website but i’m guessing these Couplers will be available for the bigger Marine DeiselInboards and a Variety of Transmissions used in the Larger Sport Fisherman and Convertible Boat Manufacturers and Motor Yahts
So what are the differences in bearing clearance and piston to wall clearance from marine to automotive.
Nothing. The main differences are in the cam timing. Boat engines are low rpm versions. More like truck engines than fast car. Torque moves boats. And most outdrives won't hold up much past 4500-5000 rpm. Especially when ventilation or cavitation occurs. Marine no spark started. Backfire arrestor. Bronze freeze plugs. And depending, water cooled exhaust. But the engines themselves are basically the same
Thank you for this video brada🤙🏽Very educational 🤙🏽👏
Do you make this exhaust for 6.5 Gmail diesel
Negative, these headers are only made for GM Gasoline engines (LS, BBC, SBC)
i didnt quite see the point of fixing that pump there was nothing usable in it. just buy a complete new one
Not everyone has 5k laying around 😒
Yeah u use what parts you can salvage boats are expensive enough already
Where do u get the parts
CP Performance - 800-225-9871 - www.cpperformance.com
Where do u get the housing that bolts to the block an the jet drive
CP Performance - 800-225-9871 - www.cpperformance.com
New to jet boats. What’s the advantage to cooling the headers? Saves the hull from being heated more than it should?
What's the part number for the thermostat mounting bracket
Where's the heat exchanger.?will you run raw water thru a aluminum head engine? Thank you
Could anyone supply the link to this product it is EXACTLY what I've been looking for and can't find
www.cpperformance.com/p-109846-22mm-led-lit-electronic-push-button-switches-with-label-options-and-wire-harness.aspx
Does that pto n shaft set up work for Volvo Penta pjx jet drive?
Do you know how I can get air out of the hydraulic system that runs the nozzle on a Berkley jet pump
do you have a rear engine plate for an Ls4?
There are currently not any rear plates made to fit the LS4 application.
great very prfessional
Editing my response to bring it up to date correction here now because the O2 censor must not be a problem since there are so many exhaust and riser options now that offer an O2 outlets on them. What ever the design problem people where running into before must have been fixed. Saving the stock injector system should be easy but the controller may be changed to something like an EFI Controller instead(Holley EFI Terminator series). I would like to see a shaved down kit running the stock injection system. Not having to do the conversion would be nice and the money saved would go nice to the new exhaust system and a marine cam.
Thoughts for this application on a 1984 glastron Carlson cv23 day cruiser style boat
@@chrisgarrett1369 As long as it floats and you got the money money, send it! Just understand a new marine engine 350ci replacement engine will cost you 6 or 7 grand plus tax. If there kit cost to much then what's the point. Also I will mention, people have told me that you do want to invest into a marine cam since the wet exhaust can under back pressure put a little water in the cylinder. I don't know how true this is but definitely something to look into. Saved money for keeping the stock injection could go to this extra cost.
@@chrisgarrett1369 Had to update my original post since I looked into it yesterday. So read it and it might be helpful.
Did you ever complete this pump rebuild/replacement?
Will the stock Bravo Mercruiser rear engine mount work with the LS engine. You said in one video that the coupler would fit
Great video! Thank you!! Please do a video on replacing the steering cable on a jet boat as well. I have a 1979 Tahiti 21 foot Super Cruiser and would love to see a video on replacing the steering cable. Thank you!!
I have the same headers on my LSA powered jet boat. Also used some of the other parts you have here. Had to make a few custom brackets for the blower belt. Come check it out.
Can I get a complete parts list?
Contact Rick at CP Performance, 707-585-9871 to get a list of parts as some as currently in development.
What about the height, or side to side measurements? Will that be a problem changing cv angles? Is that something that needs to be measured as well, and does this apply to rail kits with no mounting foot angles on them? This is my first time doing this and trying to learn from anyone that’s knowledgeable about doing this! Thank you so much! Love all your videos, and really appreciate them!!!
