Flowerbed Make Over Using Only GREEN & PURPLE / Loropetalum, Boxwood, Clematis, Wax Privet

Because I chose the wrong plant to put in my little flower bed, I had to dig it out and re-do the entire thing. My yard is full of so many bright colored plants & flowers that when I started to design the garden on the north west side of the yard I wanted less color. So I chose to use just two colors, GREEN & PURPLE. It was fun to look for a variety of shades & textures staying in the color sch...

I got a mum in July for my Anniversary and after it died I deadhead the plant and repotted it and hoping it will rebloom for me this Fall. I have been giving it Miracle Gro when I water. I do keep it in a pot and inside like a house plant because of how I live I don't get to garden any more with my health. I do hope it's possible to get it to bloom while living inside?

How do you return plants? Most places don't let you. Who knows what you did to it before returning it. I wouldn't want to purchase after someone returned. :)

My neighbors dog won't stop barking. My dad confronted them nicely once and she sent her son over to try and beat him up like it's high school. She is lazy and won't even yell at her dog. You have to constantly call the apartments she lives in and they won't even answer. I just wanna sit outside peacefully but I can't when a little ankle biter won't stop barking

Plant a big patch of clover for them to eat off to the side. The bunnies around here love clover and will only go for my plants when there is no clover left. I made the mistake of spraying weed killer on the lawn and it got rid of all the clover so they had nothing else to eat. I bought a bag of clover and spread it near the woods in the back, its grows very quick and the bunnies love it. ❤️

How do you care for them once winter comes? Do you prune them really short? Do you leave the leaves alone? Frost covers? We have a couple and want to make sure they come back next Spring 2025.

When we bought this house 14 years ago, there was already a very mature Sonic Bloom on our front lawn. It grows at least 12' tall and about the same width wise. But since it interferes with us getting in and out of the house at times, I cut the width back all around so it's more like 8' wide. It's gorgeous. And this year the honey bees are out in full force up here in Southern Ontario, Canada. I haven't seen them near this bush in about five years. I'm happy to have them back!

Yeah that's great for one small flower bed. We have nearly an acre of beds. Only two things work. The local bobcats and me.... We actually put a concrete strip and toe board under our fence and closed all the holes. So at least the backyard stays rabbit free. The front gets plants rabbits don't like. Our neighbor keeps asking why their beds get eaten to the ground and ours don't. I tell her it's cause I'm mean as hell and the rabbits can sense it! LOL

I have 2 Red Prince that are in full bloom April 1st here in NE Texas. They are planted on the NW side of my house, doing well there. They do require a lot of supplemental watering in our hot hot summers. I prune mine by 40% right after the blooms drop in mid April to keep them at a manageable height, they do not rebloom much. They grow about 24" every year.

Thanks for the tip! I have rabbits as pets, they're free-roaming in the garden but would like them to stop eating only some bushes and flowers. I will give it a try that, but from experience of how stubborn the little sh*tlings are, after a couple months they will start asking for some olives and feta for their "salad" as well.

My friendly yard bunny learned to avoid my garden this week after I gave my plants a dusting of red pepper. I planted some red ripper peas for her to eat along the edge of a blackberry patch. If she`ll leave them alone until they begin vining everywhere there will be plenty for her in August/September when she needs it. But she`s not a very smart garden manager from what I`ve seen.

Along the blackberry patch? A snake will surely come along and make an unfortunate meal out of the poor rabbit.
