      Todd, I agree. I’ve noticed plant prices are much higher this year. The Crape Myrtle Tree was already planted in the flowerbed. It’ll bloom red. After driving thru the large parking lots I noticed all the flower beds had small perennial flowers planted underneath the trees. I wanted to stay consistent w/the shopping center. I don’t think the hibiscus would’ve coordinated well w/ the surrounding stores landscapes.

    One of my favorite plants for the hot and dry is Little Spire Russian Sage. It goes really well with black eyed Susan’s. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it used in a parking lot island, though.

    Can you also share what size midnight marvel you initially bought and planted (ie gallon, 4.5” pot???)
