Right Now is The Best Time to Play Hunt Showdown 1896
Hunt Showdown 1896 is a good example of a game that found it's unique audience. And that audience is growing even in 2024. Crytek is a studio that management at Bungie should be studying before they even beta test marathon. Crytek isn't perfect by any means, but when they do get something right, they do it the best.

First day on the job of a LETHAL COMPANY
No Man's Sky was far from the first victim of publishers forcing out an unfinished overhyped game and then "fixing" it post launch with DLC and patches. No Man's Sky is just one of the more famous examples. The thing which sets No Man's Sky from many of the other broken and unfinished games that have been launched over the last four decades is that they actually made good on their promises to fix and expand the game, and even more mind blowingly, they spent years doing so without charging a penny for any of the DLC. That last bit is practically unheard of in this industry. I can easily count on one hand the number of titles I can think of where this has happened. There are two common outcomes when a game is released as a broken unfinished mess. One is that the game was an actual scam from the start and the devs and publisher run with the money from launch day and then the studio dissolves into the woodwork never to be heard from again. The second outcome is the big corporate route which is for the studio to actually patch the game post launch and then add the missing features using expensive installments of paid DLC.
There was no comeback the game is never what it said it would be
You echoed a lot of my thoughts in this video. I agree with you that other companies trying to do this is a huge problem. I also frequently ponder to myself how the hell Hello Games is able to keep pumping out these overhauls but I love it.
I never had any bugs in cyberpunk 2077 in day one release on pc, I was lucky I guess
And yet its still boring.
Gaming is broke.
Im just not fast enough.
small polish studio, lol i died, i thought CDP is a 30 year old studio
Forgive but never forget. I am looking forward to HGs next game but NMS was the last game I bought at launch and will never do again. But I do love that NMS is fun now. They could have just abandoned the game but they didn't and that is to be commended.
13:32 - passion? I mean that's like you say that it is enough that you, as a worker, get paid by appreciation. What is the money flow? Yes, passion is what drives it to finish it, but you need the money, so you might want to rather ask, how come that a small and a medium company has the money to fix their game and not the big ones? The answer is that, all of them has, however the big ones are too big, too bloated on management side and they are not careful with money flow. They just dump anything to start a new project, like Ubisoft to please the investors, however it will eventually dump them into the oblivion. A small company has one shot, or two, so they have to carefully manage their project to stay alive. So, from the surface and above money it's all passion, but the passion is built on a right money flow management + the necessity to do so.
oh and especially Hellogames, as you say, I don't have a single fucking clue where the money comes. Their development of the no mans sky DLCs are a part of creating their new game I believe, so a smart way to 1. building a new game 2. but by actually making your previous game better 3. so that one team is actually increasing your fame and maybe some revenue by the sells of the game (not sure how many are sold nowdays), also maybe they get a share on the ps+ because of the multiplayer aspects, I don't even know how that works 4. but in the meantime your new game is getting actually tested as well, at least the tech by the increasing community I am looking forward to install again this game soon. I played even on VR, but after I while I got tired of it on PS. Almost no good games, this was too time consuming, I only played GT7 and also my eyes didn't like it after a while.
I started playing this after they made it interesting; COVID had us locked down. Was a simple way to sort of meet up and hang out. I've seen better "games", but the experience of figuring out stuff is really fun.
Yea some blame falls on gamers constantly giving their money also they too need to held accountable, and bro no mans tiny studio isnt to blame for AAA broken releases lol you silly! Awesome video by the way.
9 year old? Jesus I’m getting old
Don't be me I've bought this game 3 times on PS4 then Xbox and then Switch. The switch version wasn't worth the 20$ it's trash barely functions. . The only good updates are PC only. now it's 59 bucks on steam get it on PC.. Fuck might be buying this game 4 times.
a Syndrome
Best redemption arc ever
You have made a beautiful video.
Wow am I glad I still kept it when I bought it all those years ago with the mentality: "It will get better" eventhough I never installed it.
I'm sorry but even if the game is "good" now, i can't condone the obvious scam tactics of how it came to be in thw first place.
11:44 wtf are u saying? Edit: I turned the captions on and now I got, I shouldn’t have to though. Speak clearly please. Take Doug Demuro as an example
It's always beautiful to see a game grow beyond its starting numbers, if [No Mans Sky] continues to grow in quality like this it may eventually achieve that.
for me what made me not play it that often is the game is cartoonisha and looks like a kid's game. this the only game which has base building and planets with atmosphere that has live and vegatations. i respect them for all of that but i am not gonna take this game over elite dangerous and star citizen. just wish it was less cartoonish....
I adore games that just spawn you and tell you to just figure it out Edit: if you go to the solar systems surrounding the galactic center, you can find a bunch of people btw
Never played, now after this video I'm even less interested...
ive never been this inspired to play a game from a video before
cyberpunk my guy? are you for real?
12:23 POLAND MENTIONED RAWAHAHA 🍺🔥💪🏼🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
CDPR is not a "small polish dev" they are also a big one with studios in several countries. I almost preordered Cyberpunk for PS4, dodged a bullet there. FFXIV was also a disaster at launch, they practically nuked the old version and re released it, now it's one of the most sucessful MMOs of all time
honestly, for all the nicety of redemption and passion and all that, for the sake of the industry no mans sky shouldve been burnt to the floor as a reminder that quality matters. instead we got hellogames job interview-fanfictions, studios that are so tonedeaf, you wonder how they even got into business in the first place, and quality comprehension so fkn nonexistent, that every political brainrot makes it into games without any first thoughts
No it didn't. Games always got updates. The only difference between no man sky and other games is people tried the game again in a large way That is it. It's no guarantee and no company is willingly making a bad game thinking they can fix it later.
Now if they could actually focus on refining and fixing things a bit... making NMS a more coherent experience, that'd be great. I settled down to finally "play the game properly" this year. After being bombarded with all kinds of random quests and tasks early in the game, with no real clearly defined progression system guiding them (like, oh have you thought about governing an outpost? Here, have a free freighter as well...), I started the "Dreams of The Deep" quest. After being directed to some really, really inconvenient places, and after travelling a full five minutes in my little submarine to reach a quest marker... I approached a mysterious underwater facility (re-used abandoned facility prop)... and- pop, the entire building vanished. It stayed vanished. The building was gone. Took off, landed. Left the system, came back. Building stayed gone. Couldn't complete the quest. So I guess that's... it for my save? Started playing Valheim about a month ago, and it was amazing... how complete and packed full of features an actual unfinished early access title could be. Had a go on Abiotic Factor as well, and oh look, another incomplete title with a stronger set of content than NMS. Let's keep things in perspective here - other small teams have done more with less publicity and funding and a lower price tag.
I think Final Fantasy XIV will always be my favorite zero to hero story. Insane how they turned that pile of shit around. Just got back into NMS for the first time since 2019 and I'm enjoying it though.
When No Mans Sky came out the reviews were absolutely dreadful. Fast forward a year and a half and all of a sudden No Mans Sky's reviews are improving by leaps and bounds. Now on steam the reviews are mostly positive. Yet the price is still $60.
I really liked NMS at launch but the repetitiveness made me fall off. Now I’m playing again and enjoying it.
I will try this game because of your video.
The best thing yet the no man’s sky still has enormous room to keep developing and growing the game to become and even more grand epic game the world has ever seen honestly speaking 🎉🎉🎉🎉
No man’s sky has the most greatest come back in all of gaming history facts❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cool and all, still a trash and boring game.
Bethesda please i would like more bethesda slop
The only thing hello games did was ditch all on what no man's sky was supposed to be about and just became poor mans Minecraft and yet playing this game is worthless anyway because it's confirmed 6 years ago this is just one guy stuck in the matrix for all iternity and even with theses fake story updates the game is getting and somehow worked for people to believe there not delusional failures from when this game first came out i can safely say this game didn't do the impossible this game will be the biggest failure for the rest of time and the fans will keep ignoring that and will argue with people who say otherwise
I'd say every team that has intergrity either fixes their broken releases or puts out finished games or does honest marketing tactics would lead players away from toxic companies like Bethesda and Bioware but the reality is players will buy every shite and that is why evil is allowed to persist. In fact they will react very strongly to every silly advertisement and brainwashing campaign put forward in the media. Even on paper mature gamers suffer these infantile fits the industry calls hype. They believe white is black, 1+1=3 and a turd is a birthday cake to convince themselves they did not just waste their money. The customer is entirely to blame here. I played Skyrim day one which was at least a 9/10 on release unmodded with minor funny bugs and games like Starfield are basically a copy a mockery made by lesser people who shouldn't work in gaming. Anyone claiming it's remotely the same situation is a liar.
it feels almost impossible to pull of what No man's Sky and cyberpunk 2077 pulled in today's gaming industry
This is the second time I've watched this now and there's a couple points I'd like to add. Sony paid for NMS's early development. Back then they were just realizing what they were excluding by not having an indie market and had no idea what they were doing. They made Sean do those interviews, which he was clearly unprepared for, talking about what he wanted the game to be versus what was actually attainable, but he was forced to launch it unfinished due to his contracts with Sony. No, he shouldn't have promised all that stuff, but he was also yanked out of his box and forced to do something he didn't know how to do. Secondly, NMS is able to update the game so regularly and for free because HG is an indie studio and even today, NMS only has about 20 people working on it. AAA developers simply have too much overhead and have to appeal to share holders to pull this off respectively.
bought this game a few days ago, and been about 20 hours in game, and im feeling like theres is so much to do, so much to explore, im only try current expedition, and i heard that they will re play previous expedition, cant wait for that.
ive wanted this game for a while and just recently bought it. im loving it, its such a great game nowadays
CP77 at release was not that bad. At least when i played it at release it was pretty good. Had some bugs, but that was normal. Skyrim was way worse. It was really bad on old gen console tho. Hello Gmaes is a fairly small studio and they make tens of millions a year. With more than one game tho. NMS isnt their only game.
i bought this a launch and the dev still haven't convinced me to comeback and spend 1 more second to play this game, they sell me an unfinished game and the experience is so bad that i dont want to give them second change.
I like this game but I stopped playing it because I am stuck on the original quest from years ago and CANNOT get it to start any of the new content. I've googled, I've watched videos, etc, but nothing works.
I absolutely love this game through and through.
"Broke the industry" lmao..
