After buying the 147, I was in a hurry to do some urgent jobs, such as the timing belt replacement. So I decided to start with a polish. I know, makes total sense.

I thought that I could delay the engine replacement in the Rover 400, as it's still working, and buy a small city car instead for around 1000€. That was not what happened. Here's everything wrong with my decision - and the car itself.

Things went slowly but surely...until meeting a seized intermediate bearing on one of the driveshafts. If you want a clear, efficient tutorial, this is not it - I've only followed Haynes instructions when I really couldn't figure things out as they appeared.

The thermostat was still the original one, from 1984 - no wonder it had finally seized and led to overheating. Thankfully, replacing it is a simple job and it seems no harm as been done - I got out of the motorway as soon as I heard the coolant spraying in the engine bay. After this, the car has successfully gone for a MOT and it's been sold. I'm already missing it!
