Litteraturhuset, Amalie Skram-salen 11. februar 2020 kl 17.00
TROND F. AARRE

This psychotherapist, while being so convinced that antipsychotics are ‘effective’ for people with psychosis, he seems to know not much about the short and long term negative consequences of psychiatric drug treatment. He would do well to investigate more extensively the work of Drs. Joanna Moncrieff and David Healy. I also recommend the book Brain Disabling Treatments in Psychiatry by Peter Breggin, MD (a psychiatrist.)

The term depression is too vague and is just a profiteering medicalisation of unhappiness. Rather ask what causes unhappiness. Nothing to do with a chemical imbalance.

Let me tell you, folks, psychedelics, they're something else, okay? They're like the cavalry riding in to save the day. You take 'em, and boom, those crazy thoughts, they just disappear. It's tremendous, really tremendous. People don't give 'em enough credit, but let me tell you, they're doing a fantastic job, fantastic. We need to keep winning with psychedelics, believe me. Make psychosis great again.

The real problem lies with the notion that mental issues have a biological basis. Besides the fact that it is based on pseudo-science the main problem is that it entrenches the mind- body split and the materialist notion that the physical brain by some miraculous electro- chemistry produces mind and emotions. This is the most arse about face nonsense this archiac view still propagates.

We (the people with mental illnes ) pay a high price. Because we have to take the meds. they bring hurendous side effect. The biggest one for me is not being able to stay motivated. Or even to start a task to begin with. Anti psycotics when being used properly block. 80/90 procent of the dopamine D2 receptor also serotonine. This causes the patient to feel depressed as to being not motivated.

For some reason, I'm not able to edit, so i add that Chinese medicine causes NO HARM and can also be very effective and helpful for some things Big Pharma's narrative would likely dismiss.

Big Pharma's cost strategy is that for every drug they research that doesn't pan out, they must recoup the cost. So-called antipsychotics do not undo psychosis at all. This is information which needs to be known. They are simply drugs which have psychotropic effects, for CONTROLLING individuals. Imo these drugs are far more dangerous than marijuana, which can calm people and has a depressive effect in the nervous system. Big Pharma's model, although unspoken, is akin to the opium dens of yesteryear, condemning those with life's difficulties to a lifetime of feeding big business at the expense of their brains and healthy lives. Pot is not physically addictive. Big Pharma's drugs don't temporarily "work" until the brain is addicted to them, and getting off of them can be a nightmare. Information is power.

I was on antipsychotics and a bunch of other psychiatric drugs.Every time i asked the doctors if i could taper down to quit, they always rejected my question. "Better keep taking it just to be safe, it's too early etc". Eventually i was able to quit them on my own, it was hell but i made it through. And i'm doing much better now than when i was on them. Not one doctor or other person bothered to tell me about the severe side effects, or how horrible the withdrawals are from these drugs. The truth is that they're clueless about it. It makes me angry just thinking about it. They should only be used during acute phases. And tapered down as soon as possible. There will be cases where people with very severe mental health problems would be better off taking them for more extended periods or even life. But i'd say more than 75% of the patients I've met would be better off without them. Instead They're being prescribed more and more drugs, mostly to counteract the side effects of the other drugs. It's fucking ridiculous how these "professional" people operate.

  • @clausdamsgaard

Forced disability, it is put in the media, that psychotropics have a benefit as criminal persecution and prevention. So the established press brings news of shootings by the insane and the conclusion is we need more psychiatry and more neuroleptics. Psychiatry still can't admit what damage is done but get us more drugs and we get suppressed and cursed by society. There is no chance of psychosis even if there isn't any psychosis. The police keeps picking us up, drives us to the hospital and we get drugged with antipsychotics. You might be lucky to get stuff like clozapine, but people think this is the best antipsychotic and that proves you have schizophrenia. If you are lucky maybe 300 mg is enough to keep you drugged, and if you are not dying from a heart attack or some infection in a wound or your teeth, you learn that there is nothing wrong with you. Just that nobody likes you, and you are excluded in every way. You have suffered from stronger neuroleptics for so many years, that your ptsd turns worse and you get complex ptsd. The authorities do anything to keep you alarmed and the people who are resposible for the forced drugging have to admit, they have no idea, what's on your mind. And you keep erasing everything..

  • @simonvesterchristensen510

About the use of force: If a person behaves in a way that is very risky like running around in traffic or hitting everyone around, I would like that person to be restrained by the police. If that person’s caretakers is very clear about how protective use of force can be used, I might agree with their intervention, but doing so makes it very hard for a confused or enraged person to understand why force is being used, so that is why its best to seperate caretakers from enforcers. I know they are still part of the same system, but the dialog after the use of force will be easier. I would strongly recommend to have an open and empathic dialog after the use of any kind of force in all areas of society. Using drugs to force people makes the dialog impossible, so that is not a great idea at all.

You asked "How about chronic psychotic illnesses?" how do you distinguish being/thinking "psychotic" from being/thinking stupid? Some people are just plain stupid and are given the diagnosis of "psychotic". Stupid people might need to be controlled and how do you control them? You can't use (visible) ropes and chains today, it has to be invisible. Children who are supposed to learn to control themselves as they grow and mature are instead getting drugs today for their "mental illness". What will happen to them when they become adults? I predict there will not be enough qualified watchers to watch over the "mentally ill".

The reason why patients do better off anti-psychotics is not because anti-psychotics aren't useful. I believe they have some use in some cases. In *REAL* cases. But more than likely, many of these people never had a problem severe enough to warrant drug intervention. The problem is without drug intervention, the psychiatrist is left without a job. He does not have the same in-depth training in psychology that a PhD in psychology has. Indeed he may not even have the same level of training that an MS in Psychology has. He may not have the same level of training as a BS in Psychology has. So are you going to give up your $200,000 - $400,000 income when your daily job is to listen for 5 - 15 min and write a script for the latest anti-psychotic?

It all comes down to money. The pharmaceutical company controls our systems. Big pharma. They have more control then our government the amount of lobbyists. Pharmaceutical companies pay our psychiatrist to prescribe their drugs . Money or the love of money is the root of all evil. I work in a psychiatric hospital when meds don’t work we rely on ECT which for some people does miracles. Some patients meds make them worse. The sad things is we use these in trauma children to control behavioral problems

My God I can't believe she believes in forced drugging. The only time I've ever been extremely violent in my life was when I took my psychiatric drugs 'as prescribed, even becoming homicidal when forced into a cold-turkey SSRI withdrawal by my Dr's from drugs I'd taken for decades in which case I admitted myself into, what would by my last God for saken abusive psychiatric hospital. Their cure? Court ordered psychiatric drugs. This isn't mental health it's legal torture.

Shockingly, psychiatrists seem to ignore data validity. All the psychiatrists in my area rely almost exclusively on treatment with antipsychotics, giving them to adults even for sleep problems, etc., dismissing their dangers.

They are also too hubristic to think about the menticide they are causing! {James Davies, Peter Breggin and the CCHR are all very clear on this.}

@@stevekaylor5606 I was forced into treatment in New Jersey. I had to attend a group therapy. Most of the patients were seriously abused at some point in their lives. A lot of them tried to take their own life some were thinking about it. When I left I felt like someone sucked my life energy out of me. The treatment works for some people though. You can see them on UA-cam. they are happy schizophrenics that take their meds and it works for them

A room you can not leave is a prison, not a hospital, not treatment. Usually a trial and a jury decide if this jailing is just and necessary thing to do. Medication is for genuine disease, all psychiatry prescribes/issues are drugs because there is no physical disease. If you do not know the difference between drugs and medicines, you are in trouble. Helping people by shortening their life span from the drugs , is not helping them.

Been saying this for a decade. I was put on abilify in 2001 at 14 years old. It made me feel horrible. They tried Zyprexa. Made me feel worse. Tried seroqiel for a long time which was *less* bad. This was originally for depression anxiety and insomnia. Eventually I was diagnosed as schizoaffective and then later as bipolar I. I still have no idea if I ever was since they say about 1/3 of people recover from bipolar entirely or mostly by their 30s. I'm 34 and am more or less stable and have been for years. Still have depression and anxiety and insomnia but I'm on no meds and feel better than I have at any point. I was later put on Risperdal Haldol geodon etc. Finally I got off meds because I was sick of it. Had tons of side effects. Muscle wasting and twitches, some organ damage, pre diabetic state etc. In 2012 I had a manic phase and got prescribed lithium and a large dose of seroquel and was unable to speak in sentences for a month each word would erase rhe one before it. I could speak but had zero short term memory. Stopped after a month and spent another month in this state. Had to use a dry erase board to remember what I was saying as I was saying it They are toxic.
