Climbing Mount Everest in a gym. EVERESTING
This summary is to show my agony of 12 hours of climbing on a stepmill.
It took me 11 hours and 50 minutes which is the outcome of three months` worth of training.
You can read about the challenge and its concepts on everesting.cc/
Though it is basically means that you need to gain the elevation of Mount Everest`s height (8848m). In my case, it is nearly 45.000 steps on the stepmill machine.
This is the second time I have completed the EVERESTING challenge. Interestingly, the first one was a bigger catharsis once completed which is supposedly due to that taking nearly twice as much time as well as the setup was more appealing than this fake, humid and monotonous setup....gym.

Thank you James. Watching your intro video, I see you are already in shape and you have the concept right. I personally would ensure that taking a good variety of food supply (sweet, salt, bitter, soup, main, different drinks) My first completion was hell because i only took energy giving supplies which i started to hate quickly and then i wanted to eat other things but could not. For the second I took all sorts and that helped greatly to my mood. When I prepared for my outdoor challenge, I was mainly doing 90 min sessions on a mildly steep, 1km road back and forth for about 12-15K, 4 times and one interval training 2-3kms, clocking 8K on that one/session. I believe you have been running for sometime so to have such a well narrowed plan, you allow yourself goo amount of time. I am thrilled to follow your journey!

@@TeePolgar Thanks for the thorough response. Yes, it seems that variety is key in the food you consume. I actually only started doing any kind of endurance again recently. I ran a lot many years ago and have maintained decent weight, but I'm starting over a bit with endurance. I'm going slow, increasing weekly totals modestly, sleeping well and eating as best I can to give myself the best shot at this. Your experience and the small insights into your preparation are super helpful. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I was a host in couchsurfing for more than 9 years, I only used it to travel 2 times and I hosted literally hundreds of people, I loved the experience so far, but I feel absolutely betrayed Right now when my house is free and i want to have people over I face 2 options 1- Use a platform that allow me to host people and show them around without getting any benefits and paying for it with couchsurfing 2- Get paid to host someone on my house on platforms like airbnb when I can not only choose who stays but also have a company covering me is something goes wrong now think what will be my decision in the future and also think what will be the decision for the majority of the hosts, now think about the future of couchsurfing with no hosts... I loved the platform for a long time, but for me is clearly dead.

yall they make you pay like 15 dollars a year (even less if youre not from a rich country) and you're complaining? there are real people behind the company and they are doing the bare minimum to survive and keep the company afloat during a global pandemic so the rest of us can go back to enjoying it when everything ends. data costs money, its quite simple. i don't understand how yall expected a company with millions of users to remain free when they are dealing with that much data storage. sorry but these comments are just filled with privileged cheapskates. I am not even traveling this year but I am still paying because I want the company to stay afloat. its 2 dollars a month, don't be fucking ridiculous.

From now on I will be using Bewelcome and Trustroots as they do not force a charge on their users to use the site. Couchsurfing is conning people and charging them during a pandemic when most people cant travel and also charging people who a lot of them cant afford to pay for couchsurfing ( students, disabled and people from poorer countries ) Couchsurfing has completely gone against the spirit of the site and I wont be surprised if it ends completely soon because of their own greed and the way they are scamming people

I have no problem paying for services. I even have registered total commander and winRar because they are so useful. But here it's me providing the service. I host people since 2011, take them around, shelter them, feed them, guide them, make sure they have the best possible experience. I've even made a small website with tips and trips for my country. I've organized and hosted numerous events. And at te top of that I should pay some 3rd party for doing so? No thank you. At least let me log into my profile so I could delete the photos and all! :( Vultures are already circling over the decaying CS. A few days ago I got a message from someone trying to make some sort of air bnb/Couchsurfing hybrid based around unusual local stay and experience..

Can you suggest me an app like couchsurfing but free?

I had awesome stays using CS. I not only saved on accommodation but also met really great people. I don't mind supporting them. Their annual subscription is nothing compared to what I saved and the memories I have of those trips are priceless.
